The food was decent enough, but the service was some of the worst I've seen anywhere. And by terrible, I mean that I was the only customer in the place and it took a solid 5 minutes to be acknowledged as having walked in the door. Then there was the teenaged girl who was my "waitress". (I use that term loosely) That girl has no place in the service industry with how she speaks to guests. She was very snide and snippy with me when asking something as simple as my drink order. If you see a packed parking lot out front, it's not for this place, it's for the Mexican restaurant next door that has better service and better food. read more

Excellent. Batter in the lemon shrimp is LIGHT. Egg drop soup was great. Very fresh. You can tell it's made to order. Lovely having DESSERT choices. Fried bananas were great. Everyone loved it. read more

Quiet Asian restaurant next to a very busy Mexican restaurant , don't let the crowded parking lot drive you away! The variety is great, they do have vegan options, i high recommend the spring rolls, always very fresh. Food does take a little while, but it is because it's made to order. Really good food. I had the Szechuan Pepper and he had the Bangkok Basil and both were excellent. We chose the combo dinner, which came with soup and a spring roll. We both chose hot and sour soup, which was really yummy. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and every part of our meal was delicious. We will definitely be back. read more

Had lunch here today for the first time. The outside is deceiving. Once you walk in you'll notice the place is decorated nicely, furniture is kept up, and it is immaculately clean! I ordered the spring rolls and bun vermicelli pork and egg roll. They were both great! The staff were extremely friendly and even brought me a slice of dessert on the house! Let's just say that since Hoa Son opened up...hunans who? The food is phenomenal. The service is amazing. The portions are HUGE! So impressed with the dine in experience. The staff is so kind and very patient and our drinks never got below half. We highly recommend this restaurant as the best in town (in terms of "Chinese" food). read more

So disappointed this time. Drive extra miles to come here and usually it's amazing. Short staffed. Chicken didn't taste good. Undercooked. Wanton soup had old wanton so not good at all. Hot and spicy tasted like it had something g wrong with it. Sweet and sour sauce was jar and old. Wrong order delivered and just shocked. Going to try it again but not to soon. Outstanding. This restaurant is a gem in this little town that really is up there with anything you would have in Austin or Houston or Dallas. There is another Chinese restaurant in town also, which is more established but this one is far better. The ambiance is nicer. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food is fresh and outstanding. I have had their salted spicey frog legs are are flafored to perfection and served over a bed of lettuce with a dressing that is simply exceptional. Their pork egg rolls are very unique. Very crispy. The Pho is outstanding. You get your choice of meat. You will get of generous portion of meat. I have had the Mongolian Beef, General Tso's chicken, Bangkok Basil with beef, Spicy Jalapenio with chicken, Tangy Orange, Saigon Chili Lemongrass . My husband has had the Vietnamese Crispy Egg Noodles he enjoyed. Everything here is wonderful Don't stop at the main course...try their gree tea ice cream and fried bannans with a honey glaze..now that is living. You will be a repeat cusomer after your first visit, but everytime you visit you will be greeted as if you were their very special guest. Everyone very catoring. This is a hidden gem. Nice large place where we were able to easily social distance. Super friendly service. The pho and vermicelli were comparable or maybe even slightly better than similarly priced places in Austin. But the calamari appetizer was amazing... maybe the best prepared calamari I have ever eaten. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area. read more

Even to-go orders are always fresh and hot. The portions are great for the prices as well! My favorites have to be the veggie eggrolls, the wonton soup and the general tso's chicken. They always make sure to throw in extra soy sauce and chili oil (packaged in house) and there's never been an issue with payment processing or picking up to-go orders. Quite the surprise -- really neat and clean inside, comfy chairs, nice decor. The menu was approachable. I had the chicken with lemongrass vermicelli, and it was excellent -- savory, plenty of lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumbers, and peanuts. The accompanying sauce was excellent. In addition, I recommend the peanut sauce that came with the spring rolls -- too many restaurants put out something that MIGHT be peanut sauce, if you could get past the muddiness. This, though, was very good -- perfectly savory and had a nice delicate quality to it. The server was really nice, the price wasn't too bad for 2 people who had three appetizers and two large main entrees (one was the seafood special, which was excellent). We'll definitely be back -- it was a cut above the ordinary vietnamese/chinese place, and really convenient, right on 290 in town. read more

This was a surprisingly good hole in the wall location! They moved from Houston and have a good story about what places them in Giddings. I was very pleased with the shaking beef and the calamari. My husband andd I are new to the area. Love Pan--Asian food but haven't had much luck finding a place we would return to after trying many similar restaurants from Bastrop to Columbus. This place is by far the best we've had in Texas and we've tried many from Houston down to Corpus Christi. We've been here about a half a dozen times in the past two months. The food is always fresh and delicious. Favorites are the Pho Tom, Vietnamese Spring Rolls and Shaken Beef. Would highly recommend this place. Service is always prompt and friendly. read more

This restaurant completely failed any standards I had for Vietnamese food. I am Vietnamese and I know home cooked meals are better but sometimes a bowl of pho at a restaurant is quicker and satisfies me. But my experience was awful. My pho broth tasted of MSG and powder, I could barley eat it. I was looking forward to it because of all the great reviews that have been posted on Yelp but I stand corrected. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is its nice servers, but not even that was anything to make me come back again. If you're ever hungry in the small town of Giddings, TX save your time and go to the McDonald's down the road. read more

Pleasantly surprised by very good food and service. The fresh spring rolls we're good. Main courses were crispy noodles with combo chicken, beef and pork. I had the vermicelli bowl with lemongrass beef; well prepared with nice presentation, and plenty of lettuce at the bottom. I'm from Giddings but I don't live there now. I came home for the holidays and my mom and I didn't want leftovers. She's usually not too adventurous with food, but I convinced her to try this restaurant with me. I love pho, so I was so surprised to see a Vietnamese restaurant in little ol' Giddings, and not only that, the pho was excellent, better than the last bowl I had in Austin! But first, when you walk in you'll notice how clean everything is and the whole place smells lovely (the bathroom, too). The tables and floors were immaculate and just that right there impressed me. I got the Pho Tai Nam and my mom got the pepper steak lunch special (couldn't talk her into trying anything Vietnamese, but maybe next time). The pho broth was spectacular, the bean sprouts and accoutrement were super fresh, the beef was tender; just perfect. My mom was raving about her pepper steak so I tried it, too. Soooooo tender and flavorful - I have to say it, this wins over that other Asian restaurant hands down. I just realized I was so amazed by the food, I forgot to take a picture. Service was excellent, as well. Giddings, y'all better keep this place. I hope to eat here again next time I'm home. read more

Excellent and authentic Chinese and Vietnamese. Great stop from Houston to Austin. So friendly and accommodating for a non-adventurous 5 year old (plain chicken from the fried rice next to steamed rice - a huge hit). Lemongrass beef - is out of this world! All excellent. Clean. read more
