We have Ho Ming almost every week. The food and service is consistently excellent. Tonight Pearl went out of her way to make our experience outstanding. When we picked up our order they mistakenly put vegetable lo mein in the bag in stead of beef lo mein. We hadn't even realized it yet when Pearl rang our doorbell with the beef lo mein. Orange beef was terrible. Lots of fat and not eatable. Fried rice dry and not appetizing. About the worst Chinese place I have eaten.

We ordered take out this evening. The fried dumplings were burnt black, the General Tso Chicken was so overly spicy, I couldn't eat it. There was no soy sauce, mustard or duck sauce in the bag. My daughter's lo mein was inedible!!! Will never go there again!!!! read more

Id give ZERO if I could. The rude girl who legit talked over me the entire order sends the spiciest chicken ever. Im talking off the charts and ignores the fact that she didnt even ask or repeat what I ordered. When I called she goes "well it's is what it is" ok well your watered down sauce, chewy questionable anything other than white meat chicken should be enough to not go here... but her annoyed and IDGAF attitude is the icing on the cake. Legit says s+ for spicy plus on there, you cant even touch it its so spicy and she goes we ask usually but its up to the customer. Which she had no answer for when I told her again I didnt order spicy, just repeated her "well it is what it is". We had a nice meal, our first time at this place. It was recommended by an Asian woman, which I took as a good sign. The food was fresh and tasty. And the cook was willing to make cold sesame noodles with rice noodles INSTEAD of wheat noodles. He garnished it with carrots and bean sprouts, etc. This proved to be a great gluten free option, which I very much enjoyed. We'll be back to try other dishes. read more

Pretty good Chinese food. Shrimp and lobster sauce was amazing. Shrimp fried rice was excellent also with a generous amount of shrimp. Little disappointed with the eggplant and garlic sauce with chicken, sauce was somewhat bland and eggplant was greasy and way overcooked. Will try again at some point. read more

I have been going here for years. Food was good and prices reasonable. I picked up an order last week. The lady told me the total cost was $49.50, I gave her my credit card but didn't have my correct glasses on so didn't check the receipt until I got home. She added an extra $2 service charge but never told me. Thought It was pretty sneaky. This kind of crap makes me go elsewhere. Just check your receipts. read more

Why is it so hard to find good Chinese restaurants on LI? Problem with many Chinese places is that they won't throw anything away even if it's old! They only worry about the bottom line. Ordered from this takeout place for the first time since its only 10 min away. Ordered wonton soup (poor quality dumplings and broth had very little flavor); house special Lo Mein (fair rather than good because noodles were over cooked); young chow fried rice (fair because rice was definitely old probably from few days ago); shrimp in lobster sauce (Good and probably the best thing we ordered) and chicken with vegetables (fair). Won't be going here again. I guess I'll try another Chinese takeout around Mt. Sinai. read more

It really is a shame because ive been coming here for a long time the quality has gone down hill so much it's honestly comical . the straw that broke the camels back was ordering at 7:00 PM and being told 30 min after arriving at 7:30 i was told the food was not done but would be ready soon i waited a additional 45 min until i walked up to the counter and told her to cancel it she frantically told me " the food is ready" so i waited another 5 min then walked out and got wendys down the road . terrible i wont go there anymore and fyi they charge a additional 3% on all credit card orders and no matter what the issue they will not give you a refund read more

This is a GREAT little, family run, take out Chinese food restaurant. We've been coming here for at least 10 years. It's the BEST Chinese food around. Tonight we ordered chicken and broccoli and sesame chicken. We also really enjoy their pork lo mein and their moo shu pork. Their food is consistently delicious, portions are sizable, and their prices are reasonable. When we have a hankering for Chinese food, this is our first choice. We do a lot more cooking at home now than we did when we were younger. Back in the day, I used to order from here almost every week. Ever since Szechuan Garden suddenly closed up, I have sought decent Chinese food. I noticed the high marks this take out place had received from folks who obviously were born without taste buds. The food was inedible, chicken in both the chicken with broccoli and the chicken London was coated in a fatty, slimy textured mystery substance. The chicken itself was cuts from only areas that are unknown to humankind, pulverized veins were rampant in an attempt to tenderize old, tough poultry meat ( whatever happened to tender white meat ??? ). I've tried this place a few times. Found it very very inconsistent. Recently I had hot and sour soup where they added sliced pork to it, which is unusual to find these days. Unfortunately the pork was bad so it couldn't be eaten. I just ordered pork egg rolls which were dripping with grease. The roast pork yay gow mein soup was actually better than most places as the pork was shredded and mixed well with the vegetables and noodles. I also made the mistake of ordering orange beef. I was hoping for crispy beef gently coated with a sweet and spicy orange glaze. What I got was a container of beef glue. Soggy, oily and completely inedible. If I lived closer I would have brought it back. Even the broccoli that comes in it was completely over cooked. Will not go back!!! read more

Great take out. Amazing chicken and broccoli, chicken friend rice is great, awesome fried wontons, and the Mei-fun with vegetable is great as well. Food is always super fresh. Nice mom and pop type business kids are always friendly. A true place you want to spend some of your food budget on. Expect a lil wait food not always done on time. But again Worth The Wait!!!! Disappointed. Regular customer. More than a few minutes away. Got all the way home to find s missing item. Had to go all the way back. Finally sat down to find one other dish was incorrect. All I got was an abrupt sorry along with "you want credit or refund?" Not stellar customer service considering I didn't make the mistake. Two different employees handled the transaction. They both dropped the ball. I worked in retail for 35 years. I would have offered my customer something for their trouble to at least keep their business. read more

This take-out restaurant is a gem right here in Miller Place. All items on the menu are cooked fresh and the containers are always over-filled. Their Cantonese, Szechuan and Hunan styles are on a par with any restaurant between here and Manhattan. My daughter, a NYC resident, always waits to come home for her favorite Szechuan Chicken - even though China Town is on her doorstep! The counter person, Johanna, is delightful. She is always happy to cater to special orders and makes sure everything is exactly to your liking. They have a sister restaurant in Coram, Ming Garden, and if you are coming from that direction, you will find it as good as this one. read more

Went here based on other Yelp reviews and they were pretty much spot on. I wouldn't call it the best Chinese food that I've ever had, but it's pretty darn close and it will be my go to spot when I'm visiting Long Island. I will call the cheese wontons the best ever though. They're huge and really flavorful. Also on the order was General Tso's chicken, which was a little too saucy but just spicy enough, steamed dumplings (I've had better), and vegetable lo mein, which had nice thick noodles. I am so grateful to Ho Ming Kitchen, for they are so kind, considerate and protective towards allergy children., My daughter is 12 years old and has never eaten in a restaurant in her life due to life threatening allergies to milk, eggs, peanuts,treenuts, garlic, shell fish, and beef. My daughter has eaten all summer sweet and sour chicken, chicken with rice soup, and tofu with mixed vegetables in a sauce they named after her called Angel sauce that has no oyster sauce in it . They use that sauce in her chicken and broccoli as well which makes it safe, the sauce is a clear color. I would like to thank them for their diligent effort in keeping allergic children safe. read more
