Ho Mei - Yummy kung pao chicken. Skipped the rice / noodles $5.60. - Chinese Near Me - Wheat Ridge, Colorado

Huge portions is an understatement. My friend is local to Denver and suggested we go to a $1 scoop place. It was the first time I've heard of that, and wow! When ordering, we just ordered a regular plate, and I guess they count the scoops on their end? The picture of my plate was about $7 and some change. It also included a canned drink! I accidentally sent the staff into a laughing fit, but it was great to share some laughs before heading out. I would come back! read more

Ho Mei - Lo mein, fried rice, Teriyaki Chicken, and broccoli with beef - Chinese Near Me - Wheat Ridge, Colorado

I think Ho Mei is by far the best bang for your buck in Denver. For $7 you can get a HUGE plate of food plus and a side and a drink. They aren't stingy at all on their portions here, and honestly 1 of their meals is enough to feed 2 people. Is the food the best? No. But for $7 you can't expect it to get a Michelin star. It's on par with Panda Express, but much cheaper. They serve people lunch line style, so it's very quick and efficient. The restaurant seemed clean, and there is space to eat there if you want (although most people take it to go). I wish it stayed open later! read more

The people leaving bad reviews on this place are just too picky because our food was DELICIOUS. We probably overate due to large portions and loving the flavor. This is better than some of the pricey places I've been to. The restaurant is clean, the service is quick, it's a convenient location and you cannot beat the price. We each got 2 entrees, noodles and a side and canned drink and paid $17 (there was two of us). Don't listen to the bad reviews go give this place a chance I swear you won't regret it. read more

OHHH I have been cheating, and this place is not much to look at, it is a TAKE FOOD OUT PLACE! But!! Service is more than pleasant: "you don't want more food!" NO! My dog and I can't eat that much, then we no charge, yes you must charge me for your food. This goes on for a few moments, and I do pay for what my dog and I can eat. Geezzz I hope you are laughing when reading this! Becuz it's a true story over the last 6 months when I found this corner Asian eatery with great food. We only order 2 things each time, the same delicious items! The Portions are huge: I have to plead, as in "BEG! PLEASE NOT SO MUCH FOOD!!" I love the fried rice and shrimp without the peppers, SO DOES MY DOG!! It is CHEAP AND HUGE! Litterally I must beg, please LESS FOOD! And the cost of the delicious Rice & Shrimp (am admitting as a vegetarian, I love their fried Shrimp) so does my dog, she salavates for the tails! This is a giggle, yet, off of Sheridan and 38th, there is a little side parking spot, people move in and out quickly, while inside are the incredible aromas of multiple choices of everything that might be at an expensive location. The interior is not great, my dog and I go to the park to eat and enjoy the fare of meal for just $5.25 HUGE PORTIONS, I can't eat that much, my dog does! IT'S DANG GOOD! NOW I'M HUNGRY~ We have to go and beg PLEASE NOT SO MUCH OF YOUR GREAT FOOD! read more

Ho Mei - She LOVE HO MEI food!! We both do! - Chinese Near Me - Wheat Ridge, Colorado

My husband and I were craving Chinese food. We live in Texas so we were unsure if we could find a place that has good food but also economical. Well we DID! We passed by this gem and noticed the busy traffic they had. Always a great sign when a restaurant has constant traffic. We parked and went inside to find an entire menu of food under $5. We got back to our Vrbo and stuffed our faces. The food quality was amazing. read more

You know, sometimes cheap Chinese food hits the spot and Ho Mei is my go to in the Wheat Ridge area. How can you possibly argue with $6.55/absolutely PACKED plate that includes 1 main dish (fried rice or lo mein), 2 sides (my favorite are orange chicken and jalapeno chicken), and a choice of an appetizer (egg roll or 2 cheese wontons)? That's right, you can't. I would highly recommend getting the hot and sour soup as well which is $2.00 for a small container and $4.00 for large (large will probably feed 2-3 people) as well as the hot chili sauce for $0.25 each. Check it out! read more

The restaurant was clean, the food is good, the service was efficient and the price was really good. I was surprised at how much we liked everything, the kung pao was my favorite. It had huge chunks of veggies which were cooked perfectly and just enough spice to make you know it's there. They have about 3 booths and a few tables to sit at and eat. It's served in a container to go and the lady I had pilled it in there! Worth the price, you get a soda and egg roll with the meal for around $6.50. I'll be back read more

The deal of NW Denver. Think Panda Express, in both the order structure and menu options, but half the price and triple the food. $6.85 for a combo plate of a carb (steamed rice, fried rice, or lo mein) and two proteins, a side of either (2) cheese wontons or (1) eggroll, AND a can of soda. You see how much lo mein they heap into the platter and you think "that's a great /sized portion" then they go for a second scoop. They have all the entrees you are used to: orange chicken, beef and broccoli, kung pao chicken, etc. Get the jalapeño chicken over the kung pao IMO. It's a wicked deal. Is it gourmet? No. Is it cheap? Hell yes. Take it to go and you got yourself dinner and second dinner. read more

As if the area didn't make me uncomfortable enough! There is graffiti all over their bathrooms and the smell of grease is apparent throughout the restaurant. I tried getting a veggie delite but even that made me queasy (I think there is chicken in the chow-mein), but at least there is a good drink selection. read more

Ho Mei - Little place. Keeps their food hot-to-serve! - Chinese Near Me - Wheat Ridge, Colorado

Holy crap. The portions, the flavor and the price are all hard to beat. A combo meal, priced at $6.85, is easily enough for 2 meals potentially 3 if you're not a big eater. Both the orange chicken and the jalapeño chicken were fantastic. Couldn't recommend this place more read more

For the price this food is great! I'm from HTX and this taste better than a lot of spots and haven't been to one cheaper!!!

I was hungry for Chinese food and it was suggested we try this place. It always seems busy enough so people seeking good cheap food are stopping in a lot. Now realize this is not likely a place to eat in and it's not the highest quality but it's cheap and filling. The standard seems to be three huge amounts in a container for about $6.55. You choose fried rice or lo mein. Nothing special about that but it is heaped into the container. Then you choose from a variety of selections each of which is heaped into the container. We had three such containers and believe me it was heavy carrying it out. One container could easily feed two people and not just small portions! Given the high prices for food, even Chinese food, it's tough to go out nowadays. But if you want decent quality food heaped into a container this is the place to go. Inside the place is clean and the servers are efficient. I'm impressed. We tried a variety to include orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, happy family, jalapeño chicken (it's very mild), pork, and the egg rolls. For a few bucks you get a lot of food. Put this on your list of places to try when you're really hungry for Chinese food and don't want to pay a lot for it. read more

The portion of food and drink for $5 you cannot beat. I went here toward the end of the day so the items to pick were on the low side, so I ventured out of my usual by ordering sesame chicken. It was a bit heavy on the breading so I'd get something other than that or orange chicken. I thought ordering the bbq pork would be too much but it looked good and the guy behind me received a huge helping of it. The noodles were very basic without much vegetables. Other than this though we enjoyed everything else. I would get food there again hopefully when there are more items like salt and pepper shrimp. read more

Not really something to brag about. At the end, it was a win for us since we didn't get food poisoning after seeing this fine establishment. The food was eatable, the price was very affordable, the atmosphere was that of an abandoned gas station. I would not return, just not my cup of tea. There are other Asian places that although a little more expensive, the experiences is way better. To each its own. read more

My sister told me about this place when I first visited her a year ago. I now live here and I have to say it's very yummy. We all go at least once a week. There isn't a lot of seating so we just order to go, just as yummy as if you were eating in the restaurant. The employees are all very nice. My favorite thing to do is, order crab-cheese Wontons,Kung Pow Chicken, Lo Mein, and Orange Chicken and take it home. read more

For what you get it's really not a bad place. Aesthetically it doesn't look great from the outside but good price and good people.

I've been coming to this place for months, and I am so happy they are still open for takeout during this crazy pandemic. It's a poor neighborhood made poorer by this place. The Lo Mien was colored and flavored dry-ish spaghetti. The General Tso was also dry and old tasting. The Chicken and Vegetables were made spicy with powder which still hadn't integrated with the food. I asked for chopsticks and was charged 50 cents a pair for used cheap plastic ones. Unless you like to live a Gibsonesque, dystopic lifestyle, or are in abject poverty and can't leave the area because you're restricted to a wheel chair and have a flat-tire, or for some other reason, skip this one. PS I never did figure out what the $1.39-a-scoop was, but I'm sure this will be revealed to me in a nightmare, perhaps as I digest tonight. read more

It is the cheapest chinese food I have ever found. They aren't the friendliest but they make some great orange chicken and give you a heaping plate of food w/drink for like $5. I wanted SO BADLY for the majority of Yelp reviews to be wrong about this place, but alas, the people have spoken. Granted, it is a BUFFET and my total with 2 entries, rice, spring roll, drink came to $5... It still was not 3 star worthy, and I hate leaving bad reviews. If you MUST then order the sesame chicken, you will get a decent bite about ever 3 tries. About the orange chicken, just don't. I would go so far as to say Panda Express is even better - and I don't eat at panda. I don't want to mention this but I feel it's necessary - when I was checking out someone eating in the restaurant returned their food because they found a hair in their meat. The people are so friendly and wish them the best of luck. read more

Not sure why all the negative reviews. We always get the potato chicken, beef and broccoli and the salt and pepper shrimp, all good for a dollar scoop place. My girlfriend and I have been looking for a solid by the scoop location in town since we moved to the west side. After a number of locations we've settled on this little spot for its overall quality after trying it 3 times now. The only things we've ran into is the selection can be a bit limited, and the pepper shrimp still had the shell on the shrimp which threw us off and left a mushy extremely unappetizing shrimp inside. Avoid the shell on shrimp, and hopefully miso soup is added to the menu. Otherwise this location is spot on for cheap by the scoop. read more

I happened to be in Wheatridge near 38th and Sheridan this morning with a friend and this place was opened early so we thought this was our lucky day - before 10 AM like their sign says. We were in there just to get some Chinese takeout and the place smells like rotten fish. If you want an inexpensive buffet place everything for $5.00 - this would be your stop. I can't recall the last time I have ever done this but instead of ordering anything we just walked out of the restaurant. We're just doing the Wendy's drive thru window today. It's not one of my jokes either - the Department of Health should be called on those people. I am posting no photos because pictures cannot convey the nasty smell of this place. read more

Ok, you have review this place for what it is. It's a by-the-scoop chinese place. You don't go into McDonald's expecting an amazing burger so don't come in here looking for authentic chinese cuisine. For $5, you get huge portions of pretty decent chinese food. You get rice or low mein, two entrees, either an egg roll or two won-tons, and a soda. Sometimes it's off brand, some times it's not. As with any buffet type place, the food is better when it's fresh, so try to pick something that's just come out. They tend to replace the pans pretty often. We usually go with the happy family, kung pao chicken, beef and broccoli, and sometimes sesame chicken or general tso's. There is always enough for lunch the next day. read more

Leave it to me,to be the one reviewer ,out of MANY, who has had consistently great food from here! First off, they only use WHITE MEAT,in their chicken entrees! To me, this speaks worlds! The food is hot and their helpings are HUGE! And for under $5, I have a carton full of supreme fried rice, 2 entrees,( love the Peppered Shrimp, and the Sesame Chicken is always killer!) Their CrabCheese Wontons are completely fresh and the cheese stuffing, gooey and sweet..YUMM! The only items I wouldn't give a thumbs up, to, are the generic egg rolls, blah, and the Lo Mein is just too " Spaghetti- ish". Of course, the atmosphere is DEFINITELY NOT first date material, but I'm always satiated and keep coming back for more! I mean, hey..where else can a single gal get 2 meals( I told ya., BIG portions) for $5 !!! read more

Daughter and I went in and saw the combo special for $4.50, rice or lo mein, 2 entrées, cream cheese wonton or egg roll and a canned soda or water. sounded like a really good deal so we ordered that and a couple extra entrees at $1.35 for each scoop. wow they really filled that foam box. Sometimes Chinese food at "scoop" places can all taste the same. not this place. With each bite of each item we were impressed. everything was great! and all distinct in flavor. the sesame chicken was nice and crunchy and light in color as was the sauce. bbq pork, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken and happy family were great! although the happy family didn't seem to have any seafood in it....I think its suppose to.
