Service was great, Kim was our server. We stopped for lunch on Saturday. Buffet only. Great salad bar, offerings were plenty. Main buffet had assorted chicken and fish, country beef and all the sides. I tried one of the baked chicken dishes, chicken a bit dry, green beans were good, hush puppies were excellent. The bbq chicken was also dry but the country style beef strips was best. Desserts were blueberry cobbler, needed whip cream and peach cobbler both were good. Very friendly and fun southern atmosphere. Local staple. Fun experience.

    Main dining room.

We stopped here for lunch and got pulled pork sandwiches and they had no barbecue sauce. It would be good to have it.

Good food and atmosphere. Like the anterior decor and servers where processional. The food tastes homemade. I would recommend.

We drove past twice before parking at the Hardware store next door and walking over. The exterior is...weathered to be sure. But that's not gonna stop us! The order window opened quickly and a gentleman efficiently took our order. Cash only. We got two hot dogs, an order of onion rings, a cheeseburger and a tea (that was the only drink available on the day I visited). We hung out until our order was ready then took it and sat on the tailgate of my vehicle to eat. The grease from the chili had soaked through multiple layers of the wrapping. Always a good sign! I had to look at the hot dog for a couple seconds because the chili looked unusual. It was mostly (very) saucy with some bits of ground beef. I was skeptical but on first bite...it was delicious! Certainly not what I'd call chili if I'm being honest. It was like BBQ sauce and ketchup mixed together, heated up, with ground beef conservatively tossed in. But again, it was great. The onion rings were good. Hot when we got them with good crispy outside. The burger was really good too. Lived up to the hype. I'd definitely recommend folks make a stop at Spencer's if you're in the area. Ambiance isn't overly impressive but focus on the food and you'll have a great time.

They were happy to mail some letters we had and offered to drive us to the store down the road when we asked where to buy some fruit. Let me also say that I am the consummate "foodie", my life has been driven by my passion for all types of food. When I dine, I try to go into the restaurant with no expectations, so you can pretty much trust what I am telling you about the experience. With that being said, we had just moved to Greenville a few days before and decided we needed to treat ourselves after the week of moving and unpacking. We decided on The Rickhouse, notwithstanding the fact that my first name is Rick! Anyway, we were sat immediately, and were approached quickly by our waiter, Christian. In short, Christian was fabulous throughout the entire meal, even considering the fact that it was only his first week on the job. He certainly has a flair for waiting tables. We ordered drinks and I have had a fair amount of Grey Goose dirty martinis in my life and let me tell you, the bartender knocked this one out of the ballpark. One of the best I have ever had anywhere! We ordered an app, the Chef Crab Dip and it was wonderful. Not too crabby, perfect blend of cheeses and pita chips that I am pretty sure are house-made. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu which was absolutely out of this world! I got to sample the other two entrees at the table, which were the Garlic Parm Chicken Pasta and the special that evening, which was a bacon wrapped Filet Mignon topped with a bacon jam. Both of them were also to die for! We didn't have dessert as we were stuffed already. The bill was $189, which I didn't consider bad as we had an app, three entrees and six drinks. While some might consider that a lot for dinner, I'm also the guy that doesn't bat an eye at spending $600 for a dinner for two at a gourmet French restaurant. Anyway, I can't recommend The Rickhouse enough. Everything from start to finish was just about as perfect of an experience as you can get at a restaurant! I just hope our next visit will be as wonderful as our first!

My sub was definitely on the sparse side. The 6ish inch sandwich arrived at the table warm on a small metal tray. The serving of salami was skimpy; I seriously doubt that it had much more than an ounce of salami and about the same size serving of mozzarella. Despite the modest amount of protein, it really was OK. I've had better versions of this sandwich, but I've had worse too. The baked ziti showed up piping hot in an enormous baking dish that dwarfed the metal tray of my sandwich. It was easily a large enough serving for two or possibly even three. I got to try a bite and it was also OK. There was a lot of pasta with a barely adequate serving of meat sauce and there was a lot more tomato sauce than meat in the sauce. The sauce was definitely on the sweet side; I've had baked ziti many times and do not recall ever eating sauce this sweet before. Our server was not overly attentive but did eventually refill our drinks. The restaurant is clean and had a bit of a 1990s feel. We both noticed that there was pay telephone in the lobby that appeared to work. It definitely reinforced the 1990s vibe. The restaurant charges a 4% fee to use a credit card. There really aren't too many dining options easily accessible off of highway 64 east of Rocky Mount until you reach the OBX. Momma's Pizza is a reasonable choice as long you have modest expectations.
