I usually do business with Foothill Feed down the street. But when they didn't have a product I needed they suggested I call the Hitch'n Post. I have now called 4 times since this morning and not once did anyone pick up the telephone. I still need the supplies, but you can be sure my next phone call will not be to here. read more

I bought the highest priced riding pants in the store for my wife on Saturday. The brand is Iridion and they cost $125+tax. They lasted 1 hour in the saddle on Tuesday before the leather shredded apart and several holes developed. We called on Wednesday and were told to speak to the owner about a return the next day. We went to return them on Thursday and the store was closed for no reason. Frustrated to say the least. read more

The plus side is that they have a cute, well-maintained front store with a decent selection of tack and horse supplies, and some equine-themed gifts. The bad, horrible side is just what other reviewers here have mentioned--the customer service is beyond horrible, and they keep running out of feed without warning. The running out of feed I could forgive, but not the horrendous customer service. The young girls behind the counter are snotty, entitled and rude to people who are spending HUNDREDS of dollars a month. As a result of their attitude, we have stopped buying from them altogether. That means that thanks to the deplorable attitude of those girls, this business has lost about $4,000 or more a year from one previously dedicated customer. I wonder how much more those girls are costing them. I've taken my money down the road to Foothill Feed. Not fancy, not perfect, but I've never had a supply issues from them, and i have never been disrespected. read more

I've just recently started buying food for my dogs here instead of at PetSmart and I'm so glad that I switched. Not only am I getting a higher quality food (Canidae vs. Nutro Natural Choice) but I'm paying LESS for it. The 4 lb bags of food have always been in stock (this was a huge problem with Nutro over the last 4 years or so) and it's about a dollar cheaper than Nutro. The parking lot is small but seldom full and it's easy to get in an out of since it's at an intersection with a stoplight. They also stock Canidae cat food here and if you were once a horse crazy kid like me, this place is just plain fun to look around before you make your purchase. read more

I have been coming here for several years to purchase hay and I have always received excellent service but yesterday unfortunately my experience left me feeling slighted. There were no parking spots (not uncommon problem there) so i had to park in the back alley where I had to pick up the hay anyways. I ran inside to pay for the hay and came back out to prepare my trunk. No one was there for a few minutes then the cashier came out to tell me to move the car because this other woman needed to get into the back. Without questioning I moved to front (she told me they would bring the hay up front which I was doubtful about because that would be difficult) but I just did what I was told. Then she came back out to tell me to move to the back again and next time not to block the back alley keep more to the side. I said sorry she said everyone learns!! That stung! I apologized to be courteous. Then come to find out she made me move for another customer who was there to pick up merchandise in a hurry! I was there in the back waiting already. So somehow I had to make way for this other customer. I hate to think it was racially motivated because I am asian and the other woman was white. The cashier working yesterday was asian too. (I have never seen her before) anyways, I have never complained on yelp about any business but I think the whole situation could have been handled so much better. If I was asked politely if I would mind moving to let another customer who is in a hurry to pick up first I would have gladly obliged anyways, rather than tell me I was blocking the driveway. I will continue to but hay here because they have good price and quality and up until yesterday I had nothing but good service from them so that is why 4 stars instead of 5. Had to take 1 away for yesterday. This is update to my review. I added 1 more star. When I went this morning to purchase hay, everyone was friendly and helpful. I am THRILLED WITH THE NEW MANAGEMENT here! Wow! The place looks amazing, they always have everything I need and bring in items if they don't carry something to ensure I get what I need. Cole and his team are polite, pleasant and easy to do business with. As a result, I have found myself only shopping here. I used to shop at Foothill Feed, and we LOVE Aundrea, but the loader there was always extremely unpleasant with a nasty attitude of entitlement (like I OWE him a tip) and we found him downright rude each time we would go in there! I found myself dreading having to pick up feed/hay! How ridiculous!? Now that Hitchin Post has changed hands...it is a pleasant happy experience with happy loaders who don't look at you like you are a pain simply because they have to move themselves and load your car!!! read more

This is my new favorite store! Excellent customer service, and everything was so neat, organized and clean. I can't wait to come back and spend more time perusing everything. After 3 years of terrible frustration, I stopped patronizing my local Yorba Linda Feed Store. Hitchin Post is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better! They even deliver on orders over 100 dollars. Tonight I was pleasantly surprised by a message from Cole (the owner). It is not often-in my experience-now days, to receive a sincere and humble apology. I was contacted by Cole today who explained to me that he was entirely unaware of the event which occurred last week regarding our hay delivery. I understand that owners are not always aware of every action taken by their employees. Unfortunately, one of his let him down and it reflected poorly on his business. However, to take responsibility and offer sincere apology is honorable and APPRECIATED. Cole went out of his way to make sure this unfortunate incident was made right. We are pleased and grateful for his concern and follow through. I therefore am changing my review to that of a positive one. We all make mistakes...it's how we recover from them that matters. The store is a little disorganized and focuses more on equine equipment, but they do carry an assortment of feed for other animals. Their feed prices are ok and they do sell in smaller bags than 25 pounds. The people who work there are pretty nice too read more

I live up the hill from the Hitch n Post so I have become a regular customer. My horse is a picky eater and I can always count on them for good quality hay, even if it costs a little more than others. I usually order a delivery of feed from there about once a month and their delivery guy is incredible! He even empties out the bags of grain into my storage bins. The last time I went in was because I had questions about rain rot and Alisa, one of the girls that works there was very knowledgeable and was able to help me find the product I needed. read more

I have been going exclusively to Hitch'n Post for hay for my bunnies for over a year now and the staff has always been helpful and courteous. I buy hay by the bale and they are one of the few places that lets me break down and re-bag my hay. I try to go during their off hours so I don't disrupt their business. One star less due to them not selling hay by the flake and large garbage bags like some other places. If more bunny people frequent them, I'm sure they would sell hay in larger bags, just make sure they know you are requesting this. read more
