The "Historic Dining Room" remains my favorite place in Montana. It's such a laid back yet very…read moreprofessional experience. Certainly some things have changed. The breadsticks--gone. Avocado--gone. But the Mud Pie and the freaking flaming Orange survive. Otherwise, there remains the excellent cocktails we always begin in the lounge at the back) and such a well curated wine list. The appetizers are creative and generous, lots to share. Recommend the beef tips ( actually now better than the prime rib IMHO). But the Chico salad made from their own garden is so great--fresh, goat cheese, nuts, light dressings so the greens just pop. Love it! Of the entrees the trout almondine is to die for, and don't skip the beef--the Filet Oscar and the Gorgonzola filet--are so tender and juicy. A real grill master at work. The duck breast is just phenomenal with explosive taste. What has dropped off, for reasons unclear, is the prime rib--overcooked, thin, almost tasteless. Perhaps it was just an off night for what for many years a signature dish. The mud pie has changed over the years--this year's recipe with moose tracks ice cream is both creamy and crunchy. And the Flaming Orange has never changed. God bless it. Yet the best part of Chico remains its commitment to service. Such a great staff. They deserve multiple hurrahs!

About twenty people were in it. Not crowded, but not the quiet soak we had in mind either. The property is historic and shows its age. Some will find that charming; we found it dated. Once we decided against the pool, there wasn't much reason to stay. We had a dinner reservation that evening and cancelled it rather than kill three hours waiting around. Fine as a quick stop if you're already driving Paradise Valley. Not worth building a day around.

My husband ordered the Loaded hash brown and he said that was good also. We sat at the bar and our server was attentive. This place is very popular, my recommendation is to add your name on their waitlist which you can access on their website. You will be provided with up to date information on your wait time.

Let me set the scene: family of four, Friday morning, stomachs growling like grizzlies waking up from hibernation. We put our name on the waitlist online (be still my efficiency-loving heart), strolled in, and were tucked into a comfortable high-top booth within minutes. No chaos, no scrambling, just a hostess perched on a step stool like a air traffic controller for pancakes, calmly directing her team to the next open table with the precision of a woman who has clearly mastered the Tetris of brunch seating. Now, the food. We ordered enough to feed a small army: eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, cold smoked slab bacon, hash browns, and a breakfast burrito. Every. Single. Dish. Had its own personality. This isn't a "one good thing on the menu" situation, it's an entire lineup of overachievers. The homemade ketchup alone deserves its own fan club; it's the kind of ketchup that makes you side-eye every bottle you've ever used before, wondering how you settled for less. But here's the real magic: it wasn't just the food that blew us away, it was the machine behind it. Our server, Adrienne, was an absolute rockstar. Warm, fast, attentive, and somehow never missing a beat despite a packed house. She even carried a credit card terminal so we could pay right at the table, no waiting, no flagging someone down, just done. That's the kind of small detail that tells you a restaurant actually thinks about its guests' time. And the vibe among the staff? You could feel it. These aren't people clocking in and counting the minutes, they genuinely seem to enjoy being there, and it shows in every interaction. I watched one of the managers get approached by customer after customer, all gushing about their meal, and she just stood there soaking it in like she'd heard it a hundred times and still loved every second. I told her, half-joking, that if I had to find one thing to change about our visit, I'd have to come back just to find it, because nothing, and I mean nothing, was even close to off. Not the food, not the service, not the wait, not the vibe. Jam! isn't just a breakfast spot; it's a masterclass in how hospitality should work. Do yourself a favor: put your name on that waitlist, grab a booth, and prepare to have your brunch expectations completely recalibrated.

I had their veggie burger, which was really good and had a delicious sauce. Others in my party had the cheeseburger and the pulled pork sandwich, which they both enjoyed too. We also got some drinks from their coffee bar, and their chai latte was great, just the perfect amount of spice for me. And they have a lot of fun coffee syrup flavors if that's your thing (toasted marshmallow, huckleberry, etc.) We skipped the bakery case, but they have a lot of tempting treats! We were there right as they were turning over from lunch service to dinner, so beware they do close for an hour for that (saw some sad folks wishing they could get in during that hour). They had a couple of tvs if you were looking to keep an eye on any games, but also the dining room is super cozy with a fireplace, and a couch sitting area for those just grabbing a coffee. It was snowy when we were there, but they have a cute little patio area too that I'm sure is great in the summer.

The first visit, my friend and I split a burger that was really tasty, moist and well accessorized. We got fries and a side salad and both were great accompaniments. The second time, I was hungrier and so excited to try the amazing bison ravioli. My only regret was the one that fell onto the bar when I was offering a taste to my friend. A whole ravioli went un-enjoyed by a tragic fumble of the fork. The ravioli was delicious and clearly made with love. The cream sauce was surprisingly light for a creamy sauce. I believe this could easily be their signature dish. My friend also had a pasta dish and really enjoyed it. Ambiance-wise, it can't be beat. I was genuinely taken by the collection of Nate Udd's artwork available for purchase, as well as the work of several other artists and photographers.
