This bakery is a hidden gym in Wallingford. I seldom find authentic Japanese desserts outside of Asia and was surprised to find that hiroki exceeded my expectations. I got there at 3:30 and most of the desserts were gone, the seating area was also closed. So if you want to sit down, make sure you go there earlier. Parking was not a hassle as this street of small businesses is in the middle of a residential area. Pictured: Cassis mousse torte w/ summer berries: a little tart, but the added jelly on the top of the cake complimented the berries. Green tea tiramisu: It was a perfect blend of green tea and tiramisu and was light and fluffy. Flourless baked chocolat: (my favorite!!!) an almost soufflé texture. Hiroki is a cool place run in the increasingly hard to find humble way of a hard working buddhist (or so I gather by the pamphlets in the entry). Everything is made on the premises and is fantastic in taste and presentation. I had a macchiato and a russian tea cake. It, the tea cake which is more like a tiny cookie, was just like my grandmother used to make for the holidays. They have orchids that are happily flowering in the entry way. We asked how he was so successful in tending to them. He said that he didn't really do anything, but waters them "maybe once a week." Wow. So these gorgeous orchids, some of the most difficult plants to raise successfully, have been blooming in the high traffic entry way because of the heat from the kitchen, the steam from the espresso press, the moisture from the open door and people breezing past. Possible. Or perhaps the proprietor of Hiroki is being quietly humble about his mastery of cultivating them in the same way that he makes individual desserts; with such exacting care. I love Hiroki, little Bakery in Wallingford / South Greenlake Neighborhood! It's a Japanese bakery. Every single piece of the cake in the display is very delicate. I really love their tiramisu. They have both green tea and regular flavors. For the regular one, you can taste liquor. It's very flavorful. I also like the cheesecake souffle. Parking is good because there's a customer parking outside of the shop. In this area, it's rare to offer parking. Say, if there's no parking, I would still come back. Why? Summer in Seattle is great with lots of events to attend to on the weekend. After a short visit to University Street fair we stop by this little pastry shop call Hiroki for some dessert and they were amazing. Despite the look from exterior, this Japanese owned pastry shop offers tons of choices. We ordered banana coconut bread pudding (very hearty, kind of remind me of banana loaf but in a quiche form?! it was so dense and good), honey mango cheese cake (top layer is the honey mango sauce, middle layer is the cheese cake, and bottom is chocolate crumbles - need I say more? If you don't know what to try for the first visit? This is IT!), and chocolate puff pastry. It's hard to call favorite but the first two are definitely something we'll order again and again. I was in the area, felt like dessert and saw the good reviews so I thought, hey, why not! I am a SUCKER for cake, especially ones that are more creamy than sweet. This place certainly hit the bill. I liked it. It was tasty! It's a small place in a cool little neighborhood in Wallingford. But, for the price of the cake--$6 for one small slice--I expected a few things. One, I wanted the cake to be truly an experience I didn't feel like I could have any where else. Tasty, great texture, sure... but nothing that made me go WOW, I need to GO here. Next, I wanted a fancier interior. Nicer decor, artwork, tables, lighting... something! While it's not a dive--it's quite nice, if really pared down inside--again, if I'm paying $6 for a tiny slice of cake, I feel like I need that extra wow factor in ambiance AND taste. It didn't. This place is a solid 5 stars. I came in quite late(almost closing time). They still had a great variety of options. I decided to go with the signature here: green tea tiramisu. I brought the cake back to my apartment and tried it right after(about 15 mins after). The cake has a strong intensity of matcha but also well balance with how smooth the tiramisu was. At first, I think the cake here is pretty expensive,but after trying the cake, you can actually taste how great the ingredients were. The place is a little hard to find,but there is a parking lot at the store, so no need to worry about that. I would come back here again when I really crave good cakes. Right after the initial shock of how flippin' delicious both of 'em were, I had this enraged desire to scour all of the Yelp reviews to see if any of my friends had been here and why the f-word nobody told me about this place... but, my rage would subside after every bite and bliss would wash over me...then rage, then bliss, 'til it was all gone... then sadness. I've lived in Seattle for 3 years now and I had never been to Hiroki until today. How could I be so blind? I wanna slap myself. Great baked goodies. What more do you need? I didn't get to try his pastries today but I got myself a cream custard, a chestnut roll cake and a cream puff. My husband got a gateau chocolat. I was also going to get a macha latte but the owner recommended that I try an iced houji latte. So I did. And it was delicious. I wasn't sure if I could control myself, but I only ate chestnut cake and the cream custard after I got home. Cream puff will have to wait till, well, tomorrow morning. The chestnut roll cake was so delicate and just the right amount of sweetness. Cream custard tasted just like cream custard in Japan, so I danced with joy. My husband ate his gateau chocolat after dinner. I managed to steal some bites. HA! I always tell people how I miss Japanese cakes. Well, I can just go to HIroki from now on. Life is good. Cute little shop by green lake. First thing I noticed was that they have their own private parking lot! This is a bonus because the only other parking is by the street, which looked to be kind of packed. Right upon entering, there was the display of all the goodies. We came pretty late in the afternoon so there wasn't much left. I was really sad they didn't have the green tea tiramisu because that was on my list to try. I got a caramel macaroon (really really good!) and a Russian tea cake (this was pretty standard to me). My boyfriend got the honey mango cheesecake and I had a few bites of it. Delicious! Great mango flavor that melted in your mouth. I got the matcha green tea latte and I have to say it was sooo good :) I couldn't be more happy! Its goooooood here. There is a very unique and exotic selection of desserts and baked goods at Hiroki. Such things like Green Tea Tiramisu, Peach and Ginger Scones and Mango Cheesecake. There is always something different every time I visit. You MUST try the Haupia Cake when its available, its like a flavor bomb in your mouth...you can't really beat coconut and passionfruit together in perfect harmony. Try to come on the weekends if you can, they have many different items that are only there on the weekends. There is also a lot of amazing things during the holidays or during different seasons They make a great cup of espresso and have great selection of teas as well. The quality of everything is just on point. Its a great place sit and read a book while having some dessert, I used to study here quite often. Hiroki's is a tiny bakery but its very warm and cozy. I've seen pictures of the cakes from here for a few weeks and always wanted to try. We came about an hour before close on a Thursday night and there were still some good options of slices left. We got the chocolate cake and the green tea tiramisu and both were good in their own way. The chocolate cake had the taste and texture of the edge of a chocolate lava cake if that makes sense and the green tea tiramisu had a good light creaminess to it. If anything I would want slightly more green tea flavor but I would get that again anyway. Will definitely be back to try some other cakes there. Came in after a Sunday run with my friend who was salivating about the desserts. She got a matcha latte, I got a hojicha latte, and we split a green tea tiramisu. I loved the lightly roasted notes of the hojicha, which in comparison made the matcha latte taste pretty mellow, but still good. I would say they were very solid options, but not particularly life changing - I mean this in a positive way. Sometimes you just want to eat something that feels familiar and comfortable. The green tea in the tiramisu was somewhat overwhelmed by the alcohol taste, but the texture was amazing and the cake was soft without being too soggy. The lure of the baked goods cabinet was too strong, so we each went and got another item to go. But the lure of freshly baked goods was stronger yet, so we ate them in the cafe. We got a bacon & cheese roll and a blueberry scone. The roll was surprisingly dense, a solid but not groundbreaking choice. The blueberry scone had a crunchy, milky crust that's probably the best scone crust I've ever eaten - it was like a shortbread cookie. The insides were buttery soft and although delicious, paled in comparison to the crust. However, I could have done without the glaze and powdered sugar, as it was plenty sweet enough. We ended up getting a few things (unfortunately, not the green tea tirimisu- we were told to come when they open for that). I have always loved Japanese desserts because they are usually not as sweet as American desserts. Yes it is a little pricey for a slice of cake but that how much Japanese bakery usually cost. I decided to drop by here on an impulse and because, despite having just eaten lunch, I was still a little hungry and hoping to kill the ravenous beast in my stomach with a sweet little treat. Enter: Hiroki. It's a small little cafe, one that you could easily miss while driving. They offer a small parking lot right outside the building, which is nice. I ordered a Cassis Mousse Torte, because I love cassis, I love mousse, and the combination together is alogether awesome. The total rang up as $6.30. I took one bite and was in Cassis-Mousse heaven where sugarplum fairies were spinning in pirouettes and a wave of love just came over me. In other words, this shit is delicious. It was the perfect blend of tarte and sweet. It wasn't too heavy, but it wasn't too light either. The sizes are perfect, too. Despite my sweet tooth, I didn't feel like I'd had too much but I didn't crave more. It was just... perfect, all around. I was extremely surprised, but now I understand why Hiroki gets such high reviews. Is it worth the price tag? Maybe not for a daily trip, but definitely once in a while, it is worth the splurge. Prettttttttttttty pricey for what it is. Most slices of cake average $5-6 a slice which is a bit out of my usual cake slice budget. We tried the Green Tea Tiramisu and some sort of raspberry cake (Cassis Mousse Tarte?). I think the Tarte was the winner for the both of us that night. The cakes aren't overwhelmingly sweet which is nice. Props for a really cute, cozy atmosphere. 4-5 tables. No free outlets to plug in electronics (I looked around because my cell phone was dying). One of the best green tea tiramisu's you will ever try. If you have ever been to Umi's in belltown they get their desserts from here. I've only had 1 item from here, and it was the item from the Seattle Foodie 100 list: the pumpkin cream puff. We stopped by in January to try out this thing. They didn't have them available. We were told to come by in October. What the... ?!!? You have an item that makes a list of the top 100 dishes in Seattle, and you only make it ~once per year?! Okaaaay... Now, to be fair, after my dude posted a review going "WTF?", they did offer to make it for us with an advance order -- anytime throughout the year. That was cool! October rolled around, and we decided to stop by. Sure enough, they didn't have any available. *sigh* Apparently they only take advance orders of them. So, we placed our order for 3 of them and came back a week later to pick them up. I will say it was quite tasty. Though really, the whole thing consisted of about 1/4 c of pumpkin pie filling, some cream, sandwiched between a little round puff pastry. It was done incredibly well, though I thought the pumpkin pie filling could have used a little more nutmeg and cinnamon seasoning. All of the desserts in here look great. It just so happens that every time I've stopped by, I've been trying to "behave" calorie-wise, so I stuck to the plan of trying out the cream puff. It is very small, I think maybe it could fit ten people, maybe. I have tried a couple of their sweets and have had a few of their teas and loved them all. What prompted me to finally write a review was their matcha tea tiramisu cake I ordered the other day. ( You should call 2-3days ahead to ask them to make a cake..they have a few other cake offerings) It was deeeelicious!!! For 10-12 people, it was $58, and worth every bit of that. Hiroki is a gem hidden in Tangletown that is the perfect combination of cozy and delicious. You're greeted by a large case of desserts when you enter and you know good things await you inside. I was quite impressed by the selection for such a small case. When I came in I eyed orange rolls, honey mango cheesecake, pineapple sour cream coffee cake, and so many others! Not only does Hiroki offer wonderful pastries prepared in a Japanese style (not as sweet, softer dough) but their beverage menu had matcha and houji (roasted matcha) green tea AND 3 alternative milk options. I get very excited whenever I see oat milk on the menu, so I ordered a Houji latte with oat milk and an orange roll. Be warned, the space is quite small. There are only around 5 tables so I can't see more than 10 people fitting in the seating area. Luckily it seems some people stay and some people just stop by. There is only one person manning the registry so sometimes there is a line but they seem to do a quick job making drinks and getting items out.
