HIres Big H features Hires rootbeer, of course. The rootbeer is good stuff. I still think that A&W is the best regardless, but Hires has a very tasty brew.
That said...
I'm not impressed.
I've eaten at another Hires Big H location and the impression is the same: A tad expensive.
I was at the jazz festival and decided to get a snack. Fries, onion rings, and a medium rootbeer. Granted the food was good. Fries were good. Onion rings were good. But they should be called "onion collars" instead because they were cut so w-i-d-e. They were easily 1/2" - 3/4" wide. It made it a bit awkward to eat. The breading was good, though.
So those three items were $16. $3.95 for a medium drink. That leaves close to $6 each for the fires and rings. A tad expensive.
And it took around 10 minutes to get this simple order. Not quite understanding that.
Had to ask for napkins. The order didn't come with any and there are no napkin dispensers anywhere in the restaurant, not even on the tables. Rather inconvenient.
Well, that's my take. You can try it for yourself. The food's good, you just have to decide if it's pricey for you or not.
5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money.
4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business.
3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it.
2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money.
1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs! read more
