Myself and 9 of my best friends were on Alex's pedal tavern for my bachelorette party and it was literally one of the worst experiences of my life. I have done a pedal tavern in Nashville and had an absolute blast, so I expected the same from Austin. Alex was TERRIBLE all around. He was rude, boring, sketchy, and unsafe. He got our pedal tavern stuck in between 2 TRAIN TRACKS. How does that happen?!?! A train flew by not even 10 feet in front of us, the train driver literally mouthed 'WTF' to Alex, multiple girls flew OFF the pedal tavern and Alex didn't even ask if we were okay? We could have died because of Alex's careless attitude. We asked if we could add more time in return for the terrible, unsafe experience, and he said he typically offers a deal that if every single one of us writes him a 5 star review, he will give us 2 extra minutes each - we obviously did not do that since I would NEVER false advertise and give him a good review after our incredibly bad and dangerous experience. We were all so confused why Hipside Peddler had such amazing reviews, but it makes sense now that we know Alex bribes drunk girls to give fake, untrue reviews. I am not one to typically write bad reviews, but this was so so so scary and I want other groups to be aware!!! Use another company!!! We were left on the side of the road and waiting until someone came to tow us. I can't say enough great things about the experience and the couple that operates the tours. To start with, the "vessel" itself is flat out impressive. There's an iPad, audio input, places to keep your beer cold, and backs on the chairs (seriously, don't underestimate the importance of that last feature). I've done similar tours in other cities and Hipside's bike is on another level. A+. The tour itself was awesome. Having already experienced west 6th the night before (we were there for a bachelor party), we opted for the east 6th tour to see another side of the city, which was perfect for our group. They took us to a solid combination of fun neighborhood dive bars and a great cocktail bar to finish up the tour, and our driver provided solid recommendations along the way. Speaking of the driver (and her husband, the other operator), what an awesome crew. These two were so warm and inviting when we arrived, incredibly patient throughout the tour (even during our drunkest/loudest/more obnoxious moments), and you could tell how important it was to them that we all had a great experience, which we certainly did. Overall, 5+ stars around for the experience, level of fun, tour route, quality of the peddler and staff. Very disappointed by my experience with this company. My group had purchased a group tour for a bachelorette party. We received a call 15 mins before we were supposed to meet that the bike was broken, but was being fixed and we'd likely start our tour a little late. We waited at the meeting point for 45 mins with no word from the driver. Finally we received a call that the bike was broken and our tour was being cancelled. While we were offered a refund, it was very frustrating that we had planned our day around this activity, paid for ubers to the meeting point, and wasted 45 mins waiting at the meeting point only to be cancelled on. Would not recommend booking with this company. read more

Seriously this is one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. I've seen these pub crawls throughout town before and always thought they would be fun. So when the opportunity presented itself I jumped at the chance to try it out! Hipside Peddler definitely did their research and created a comfortable and enjoyable biking experience. The seats themselves have backs which is nice because one could easily fall into the street after one too many drinks. There is a platform to step on and off the bike versus directly into the street. The music can be (and should be) cranked up and there are places to charge my phone because (honestly) it is going to die quickly from all the pics and videos. This was an amazing group activity as I was able to catch up with friends I don't see often and explore the East Side (which I'm rarely on as I live in north Austin). MUST DO!!!! This was my first time to do a pedal party and we had a great great great experience!!!Our guide was Andre and he was the best!!!! -very kind and personable! My friends and I wore wedges and we were still able to pedal just fine! They have a cooler available and cup holders/koozies for cans. There was an aux cord for our music too. ***BONUS- this pedal party had backs on their seats (a lot of companies do not) and a platform for getting on and off- I can't imagine doing a pedal party that didn't have these two things!!! Everyone that works there that we interacted with was awesome!! Very friendly and they all went beyond and above our expectations!!! Like other reviewers this was my first time on a beer bike and I'd definitely do it again. We had Johnny as our captain and he was great - friendly and professional. The bike itself is very comfortable and fun. I'd recommend wearing tennis shoes instead of flip flops because you do have to pedal hard at times. It's worth the work though - burns some calories so you can drink more beer! Overall, a great group activity and a unique way to see East Austin. read more

Our driver was awesome, the locations we stopped at were so fun (Zilker brewery & Lazarus were the favorites), and everyone had only great things to say about this experience! If you have a chance to stop at the little yellow shack across the street from Grackle, get the frozen sangria to go! Only wish we could have kept going when our time was up :) Great customer service and quite a treat - highly recommend! I've done a few bike/drinking tours and expected to have a blast in Austin on this one.... The first stop we went to was a bar in the middle of nowhere with staff that were extremely rude. Very unexpected considering our group were the only ones providing them business. After this stop the bike began to make a clicking/banging noise when the group would peddle. It was night time at this point and every single person on the bike was dripping in sweat trying to make the bike move. I think I sweat more trying to get this bike to move 4 feet than I do in my daily CrossFit class in South Florida with no Air Conditioning.... When you have 10+ people peddling (hard), 2 brides pushing the bike from behind, and the employee pushing from the front, I think it's time to accept there might be something wrong with the bike. Not only was this disappointing, but to top it off, the driver kept stopping us completely in areas that aren't exactly safe for a group of girls to be hanging out in. We had a homeless man holding onto the bike at one point and we had a man asking us questions and not leaving us alone when we were just stopped in the middle of the road in some neighborhood. Not once did the employee seem to consider our safety. I get it you sign a waiver, but I'd expect a reputable company to be concerned with keeping their paying customers safe and comfortable. Needless to say, after the multiple issues, we never even made it to another bar. The employee told us to hold tight and keep drinking while he called his manager regarding the issues with the bike barely moving. Well sorry, but normally when I hang tight, it'a not usually surrounded by sketchy individuals. At this point we ditched our beer and drinks we brought on the ride and called an Uber to get us to a safer part of town. Even our Uber driver said "I would not be hanging out in this part of town. Normally the rides are in a much more populated and safer area." There was another group on board with us that left as well due to being broken down in an unsafe neighborhood. It's unfortunate because we paid a lot of money and pre-tipped over 20% to have a trip cut short by circumstances out of our control. I would expect a full refund for this considering we went to 1 bar, had a broken bike, and were forced into an unsafe situation. Hopefully the company will make this right and work to improve so that others do not have the same poor experience. read more
