Hot and sour soup

So yummy! We drive by here all the time and have never stopped until today. The woman that runs the restaurant is so nice and the food is so good. Two of us shared beef fried bao, beef, dumpling soup, and scallion pancakes. We also got to try the hot and sour soup which was delicious. Everything was served piping hot and we will be going back for sure!

Something unique, off 84th and Center ST. To describe Bao, I couldn't give it justice and would recommend searching for Mike Chen or Strictly Dumpling on youtube and Bao. That being said I had a fried beef bao, with pork potstickers and was treated to a cinnamon desert. The dishes were very tasty and not over filling. They also had a vinegar based sauce that was a nice alternative to most soy based sauces that added to the flavor and wasn't overbearing. There was a gentle "clear your sinuses" sensation to the sauce but it wasn't as strong as some hot sauces or horseradish sauces tend to be. The server told me it was the mild one. I would definitely recommend Hipbao if you are in the area looking to try something different.

Beef Fried Bao

I have been looking for a bao place in Omaha so I was excited to see how many options they have on their menu! The fried bao were very good but you can see the filling doesn't have much. I still enjoyed it. The dumpling soup I had to add some of the sauce they gave me to the broth since it was really lacking flavor, but once I did that I really liked it! Loved the texture of the dumplings. The inside of the restaurant was also pretty clean. However I am giving 3 stars because it was not as flavorful and wowing as I hoped!

Juicy pork dumplings

My husband and I came here on a Thursday for lunch. It wasn't too busy, so we got our food within 10 minutes. It was hot, fresh, and tasted wonderful! We started with the crab Rangoon plus sweet and sour sauce. The triangle shape was different, but I loved the crispy edges! We got the juicy pork dumplings, and they were certainly juicy! The pork fried bao were another hit. We wish they would've had water available without having to buy a bottle, but that wasn't a big deal. Soda was available through a normal soda machine. We had fantastic service from the cashier, who looked like could have been the owner, and we'll certainly be back again.

Beef Noodle Soup

Nice to find a variety of foods out here in Omaha. This place is great for a quick bite and if you want to get away from burgers and pizza. The spot was nice and clean and the service was absolutely fantastic. The food was ok. The buns lacked fillings and seemed like they were frozen. The pancake was a bit hard - like it was twice fried and the beef used in the soup was chewy.

I love Chinese and love bao (type of Chinese-style dumpling). This place left a lot to be desired. First, the pork dumpling noodle soup. The noodles were like those in a Campbell's chicken noodle can, except this broth didn't have much taste at all. The pork dumplings were tasty and there was a generous amount but I could not finish the soup because of the lack of taste. Next, the steamed-fried pork bao. The bun itself was pretty good and the meat filling not bad but gosh they were essentially empty buns (see picture). Some buns had less filling than that. They do give 6 bao in an order. I'd want to give this place another shot but probably won't return for some time.

Crab Rangoon, Vegetarian Potstickers, Vegetarian Spring Roll

The food here is amazing. Service was impeccable and incredibly fast!! Family owned is the way to go. The restaurant is clean and quiet and a great place for a quick bite of delicious asian cuisine focused on bao , soups , and potstickers. Would highly recommend if you haven't tried this place yet !

We've enjoyed Hip Bao on two occasions, and each time, we were thoroughly pleased with both the bao and noodle soup selections. The dumplings, potstickers, and green onion pancakes were also delightful. We highly recommend this place. The lady at the counter is friendly and welcoming. You won't be disappointed with the food and service - it's worth a try.

Pork & shrimp wonton noodle soup and Pork Fried Bao (6)

I was on a work trip and was looking for an authentic dimsum spot for dinner. The lady was so sweet and kind. She got my food ready so quickly and all the food I order for take out was still piping hot when I got back to my hotel. She also made sure I have the dumpling sauce and chili oil in the bag. This spot may not look as appealing outside but what matters is their fresh hand made dumplings and baos that are wrapped so nicely and sure is with passion for this type of cuisine. The lady also said that they put extra pork wontons for me which I didn't expect. This place exceeded my expectations! I totally recommend this place to everyone.

Steamed beef bao

Amazing!!!! Do NOT let the dine in area fool you. First time we got take out. Second time we ate in. We've had the pot stickers, the steamed bao, Beijing noodles and chicken dumpling soup. Not a bad review for any of these choices. Both times the service and reception was polite and swift. It is mostly self serve if you dine in....I hope traffic increases to where they can upgrade from plastic wear and small paper plates but that should not sway your decision to not try HipBao!

I ordered the taro steamed bao and the chicken fried bao. I ate a few of each on the way home and they were really good. I plan to order both again. I prefer the steam bao if it's fresh but if I eat it hours later the fried bao is better. The chicken in the bao had a good flavor. Maybe next time I will try to warm the steam bao in the microwave with a damp towel around it and it would taste better if it does get cold. The cashier taking my order was really nice and friendly too.

Fried Pork Bao, absolutely delicious!

Went right when they opened. Food was okay, nothing to write home about but filled the craving for Bao.

Omg yes. Idk what…read moretheir sauce is for their cucumber salad, but it is so good. Black bean and chili? Got the pork steamed dumplings as well. A bit too salty and I wish there was more filling, but still great l. Human chicken was also good, but the sauce had a bit too much starch in it. Customer service was superb. Ugh I'm still dreaming about the sauce in that cucumber salad!

The staff was great, they sat us in a corner so not to bother anyone with our little guest joining us @ 4 mo old, they were helpful, warm courteous, and prompt. The dumplings came out rather quickly, and plates came roughly around the same time. The food was hot, very good, and authentic. Our soup dumplings were some of the best I've had in a long while, the sesame balls were scrumptious and I recommend both! The crab rangoon was incredibly fresh, the shells were still crunchy the next day after sitting in the fridge. While not normally a fan of them, these were delish, definite recommendation. The interior was bustling! Different types from all walks here for scrumptious dumplings. It was pretty busy for a Saturday night, most tables were filled. Very clean place. Reasonably priced, warm staff, amazing soup dumplings, and good location!

Heard from a Chinese Food influencer, and I whole heartedly agree, Chinese restaurants should have a 3 - 3.5 star rating. Raters should talk about the "rude" service, but talk about the good food. Here, the service is given by people of Chinese Heritage who were raised to be efficient, focus on the task (take order bring food) and not be icky-sweet and waste time. This is that place. Some ghost kitchens can be pretty good, depending…read moreon which brick and mortar restaurant they're run out of - and I think that formula shows here too (in not a good way). I was cautiously optimistic because I like bao buns, so I gave this a shot. I ordered a few things to make sure I liked at least something: -Spicy Mongolian Beef Bao: This was my favorite thing I got. It was a nice little soft bun filled with a tangy beef mixture. It wasn't too spicy, so don't let the name scare you off. Just a little twinge of heat, but mostly for flavor and not blasting you out of the room with spiciness. -Teriyaki Chicken Bao: I usually love teriyaki chicken, but I didn't love it in this bao bun. The mixture inside was overly sweet and there was no other flavor to cut down on the cloying flavor. I tried dipping it in the provided soy sauce, but it didn't help very much, so I sort of gave up on this one. -Spicy Kung Pao Chicken Bowl: This was a nutty mixture of toppings with little bits of chicken, all over a big hunk of white rice. The chicken was good and packed a little punch of heat. The rice below was ok for a while, but it ended up not being super flavorful once all the meat and toppings were eaten. Maybe it was a little too much rice to mix with the small amount of toppings provided. -Ginger Chicken Potstickers: These were pretty flavorful and they did not skimp on the filling. The crimped spots holding the potstickers closed was a little bit too crispy (I like them to be a little crispy, but this was on the verge of burnt and hard.) All the items I ordered (including a $3 soda) totaled about $30 before tip, just to give you an idea. The packaging was done well and branded with the Wow Bao logo, which was nice when so many other ghost kitchens just use the host restaurant's packaging/containers. One thing I will note, though, is that the bao buns have a little paper underneath them that says what the flavor is, so you can tell which is which - but that paper sort of sticks to the bun, so be sure you take that off (it's a little hard to remove!) I'd say if you're craving delivery bao buns or rice bowls, this is an okay choice - but I'd recommend a few others (non ghost kitchens) before this one.
