My only note is that Lara (?), the co-instructor, was a bit obvious about eavesdropping and it led to a really tense atmosphere among the students, some of whom were oddly careful about what they said but relaxed once they were in the elevator, out of earshot. Not a knock on the school itself but perhaps just a reminder to stay professional, as the instructors set the tone for the students!

At my first class, the instructor reviewed the basic punches with me and helped me to wrap my hands. I had to ask another time how to wrap my hands again but it was fine- the instructors are all super nice. Recently I had a question about a technique and I felt comfortable asking as well. I try to learn a little from each class and each instructor switches it up so you are not repeating the same exercises over and over. The general format is 15 min HIIT warmup, 15 min boxing, 15 min abs. It goes by quickly. The instructors come around and see how you are doing. There are plenty of lockers and punching bags so space has not been an issue. There are two showers in the women's locker room but I haven't taken an early AM class so I can't speak to whether or not they are typically in use. This gym has become a regular part of my routine. It does not have a close knit feeling- the classes are large and I could probably come and go each day without anyone knowing my name but all the staff are very approachable, friendly, and provide great workouts.

However, I was hooked to kickboxing and boxing the minute I finished the first class. Sure, I was sore like nobody's business and in places where nobody has business being sore. But let me tell you, you will want more. You will come back and you will ask for more of that pain that feels so good. Trust me. My heart has never beat so fast, nor hard and I have not sweat this much at Bikram yoga. I seriously had an adrenaline rush and a bit of an urge to lay down on the floor for a breather....um, you know, a rest. I wish they had a pool or hot tub because that would ensure that I would never leave (That and obviously work and stuff). The trainers are positive motivators who are passionate about perseverance in fitness and give you personal attention. (Kick Ass, SeaBass) Nothing beats punching out your aggression, getting a great, total body workout all while improving your life.

Hit House really pushed and challenged us - it was a really cool experience to try out their unique Bishop punching bags. A great workout and I loved how I didn't feel like I was pressured to buy more and buy a membership after our class. Tip: if you do the kickboxing & flow class (yoga) grab a towel so you aren't slipping on the fitness mat for the yoga portion of the class.

People can walk in and out of your "class" or there's other classes going on next to yours. It has the same vibe as a mediocre gym. I loved it immediately after my first few sessions and really liked/appreciated the time she took to help me perfect the basics! It solidified my technique and Rocky also constantly drilled some simple but VERY crucial skills (keeping your hands up, chin down, quickly drawing hands back to the face, etc.) into my thick skull. :) Even still now that I am more advanced at this point, she never lets me skimp on the details. My favorite part about working with Rocky is that she keeps it fresh-- switches it up and even though we always touch base on basic stuff when its necessary, her sessions are never boring! Which is miraculous to me because I get bored FAST.. I do love working out but everyone has their lazy days and on those days is when I'm especially thankful for this. Strike'ng Fitness has given me my start in Muay Thai and I will forever be thankful for all the wonderful things I've learned and trainers I have had the pleasure of working with. I came here twice, both for Matt's class and had a very intense, fulfilling workout both times (and can't wait to go again). Matt has a great personality for an instructor and keeps us all laughing and motivated without ever having to call anyone out. He also encourages people to stay after for the next class, which I suppose is only really possible for a location that is in a highly residential, but low traffic area. I appreciate that there are appropriately timed breaks as well, and one time the front desk guy (who I'm guessing is either another instructor or is just well versed in kickboxing) came by me to correct my sad excuse for a roundhouse kick, which was very helpful since the class is so huge, that the instructors often times can't see everyone. Along with this gym being on the larger side, it also needs a deep scrubbing and de-bugging (especially from the ceiling lights). Anyway, the music is great, the clientele seems to be a mixture of both guys and ladies, seasoned regulars and weekenders (like myself) so I never felt uncomfortable when I get lost. It's easy to pick up the routine since there's a lot of repetition, and once you go a few times, it's even easier to pick up. Like another review mentioned, I wish there was more time spent on the actual kickboxing portion than the warmup and circuit training/drills. Also, pretty surprised a kickboxing gym does not have showers, but oh well. I only go to CKO when I know I am going straight home afterward, so schedule wisely for those who have plans or work afterward.
