Not a bad spot for Indian food, pretty average flavour, nothing outstanding. I'm used to Punjabi style which is more intensely spicy with heavier use of onion. Needed more achar, but it was removed once the appys were done. We ate most of the achar straight out of the dish for want of more spice and flavour. The food here is very middle of the road but will satisfy one's curry cravings. The channa with paneer (ceci curry) was good, the baingan bharta was missing depth and that lovely roasted flavour. The masala lassi was very plain, no real masala. A bit overpriced for what you get in my opinion. Not sure I'd come back, would probably try something else, though this spot looked to be the cleanest of those along this particular street. Best Pakistani food in all of Italy! Loved this hole in the wall spot (it's kind of far from main city but def worth the uber drive). Everything we ordered form the kabobs to the rice to the masala chai was just spot on! The portions are smaller than what we get in the US so def order multiple quantities a for groups larger than 2 ppl. The service was prompt and to the point, and our food came out in a good amount of time. Cute decor inside and plenty of seating for all group sizes. I'd def add to my list when in Rome! read more

This place is a hidden gem in Rome, Italy! I would honestly describe it as a cultural combo of Indian and Pakistani food. Inside, the ambiance is very dark and the tables have ornate decorations that transport you to India. Customer service is solid and very attentive. I ordered (Podna di Currie Pesce) which is curry fish! It was extremely delicious and flavorful! Dipping the nan bread into the flavorful curry was pure bliss for me! In talking to locals afterwards, we learned that this is a common scam to charge us an Illegal "service fee" which is not disclosed on the menu and then Simply state the total and use our credit card to charge it. DELICIOUS - the best Indian food in Rome! We had such a pleasant evening here. The food was an absolute dream. We've been to 2 Michelin restaurants and dozens of of amazing Roman eateries on our trip, and this was the first place we both agreed we'd genuinely want to return to for a second time. The inside is beautiful and genuine, it really feels like you just took a step in to royalty India. But the food is where it really shines... We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo. The sauces were both creamy and packed with flavor and spice. Our side order of basmati rice and garlic + butter naan made for the most delicious meal. We also ordered a Mango Lassi and Banana Lassi, both of which were extremely authentic and delicious. The service is straightforward and to the point. Polite, but without the wasted small talk and fake smiles, which I really appreciate it. Here it's all about eating good Indian food and being comfortable. The inside was very beautiful, the chairs were beautiful wood and the tables seem to be hand carved. You could see the craftsmanship on the walls with handmade art. Some of the best Indian food I have had in a long time. I had the chicken tikka masala and stewed zucchini from the tasting menu--both were very fresh tasting with the right balance of spices. I ordered medium spicy and it was perfect. The samosa was lackluster; I would suggest trying a different appetizer. I'm on vacation and would not have thought to eat Indian food in Italy but I arrived in Rome during the post-lunch/pre-dinner void and was starving. This place was open and close to my Airbnb. We had grown a little tired of so much pasta and decided to try some Indian food while in Rome. I had read that Indian food in Rome was excellent and they were right. The restaurant is a little bit away from the main train station, but can be accessed on foot. The area surrounding the restaurant isn't the nicest and can be sketchy late at night. We tried to get a taxi to take us back towards the Pantheon but couldn't find one. We ordered an appetizer of samosa I ordered the Kashmirvegetable korma which was delicious and had lovely flavors. My husband ordered Chana masala and said his was delicious as well. We paired all of that with ice and butter naan! The server was very attentive. Food quality was a mixed bag. We ordered paneer tikka and there were literally 3 cubes of paneer served (really??). The naan and daal makhani were delicious. Puris were bad (all purpose flour based instead of wheat based) We were seated at a table and when I placed my hand on the table, there was gooey stuff and we had to be reseated. I went in today after reading good reviews but was sorely disappointed. The owner wanted me to give 5 stars but the service was poor. The washroom did not have running water. Naan was undercooked. Chana masala was pretty average and serving size was small. They did not have tap water for consumption and charged 3 euro for bottled water. I did not get a bill too. While on vacation we wanted a break from Italian food and stumbled upon this restaurant. It was right by the Vittorio Emmanuel metro stop, we walked for maybe 5 mins or less from the station. There were about 3 other tables with people at the restaurant. Menu is pretty big and the food was really good and affordable. We got the dal makhani, chicken madras & mixed pakoras. Rice doesn't come with the foods, so you have to order the rice separately. They have a tandoor so I'd definitely suggest getting naan. We are going back again for tandoori chicken. Service was great. Very friendly servers greeted us right away and got us seated. Ambiance was typical Indian place. On the door it said they have WiFi though we never tried connecting. read more

Went here for lunch one day in Rome to satisfy a big Indian craving I'd been having. It certainly satisfied the craving, but it wasn't that memorable. We ordered three 5£ lunch special. Some sort of curry chicken, lentils, rice, naan, and a tiny plate of some raw veggies. Chicken was alright - good spice to it, but not much meat overall. Lentils were good, not amazing. The naan was pretty tasty. Good value for what we got. Maybe ordering one of the proper main courses would've made for a better meal. We just didn't want to spend 10£+ each on one meal for lunch. Wow. Amazing. Its amazing how much a reataurant can suck. They had us sit on a dirty table in the back of the restaurant with no light, the melted candles were dripping all over and if all that was not enough the face of the waiter was screaming dissapointmemt in life, as if he had wanted to be an astronaut but became a waiter instead. Than we asked for hot water for the baby food, lucky for us that took its time too so we got up and left before we ordered any food or before we got the hot water. The prices are the same as everywhere in the center of Rome (lets not forget about inflation) but what makes it worth it is that the quality is in the food. When in Rome...eat Indian food! Seriously! We arrived tired and frazzled after hours of wrangling over rebooking a cancelled flight, then wandering for miles looking for the "perfect" Italien meal for our last night in Rome. The universe sent us here. We were immediately presented with pappadum and chutneys. I'm not usually a pickle fan, but their pickle exploded bursts of salty-spicy goodness onto my taste buds, perfectly playing with the crunch of the pappadum. Bengan bharta was pleasantly smoky, hot enough to bite a bit without making us cry, and delicately sprinkled with black cumin and ginger. The chicken tikka masala was juicy and pleasingly spicy. Not as creamy as some versions I've had, but delicious. Rice, naan, and a beer rounded out our meal. We were too full to try their tempting desserts. Food was fabulous, service friendly and efficient without being rushed, and they welcomed us in at 10:45pm. Definitely recommend. read more

This place is downright disgusting. The location is in some shady neighborhood where you will feel unsafe to walk in to begin with. The decor in the restaurant is outdated, dirty and dingy. The worst is however the food - stale subjis soaking in some God-forsaken oil. My husband and I ordered dal, aloo gobhi, rice and roti to-go. We both agree that this is the worst food we have had in our lives. Just the smell of the food will make you want to puke. Since both of us were super hungry, we were forced to eat a portion of what we bought and hoped we wouldn't fall sick the next day. Please do yourself a favor and Don't eat here!! read more

Maybe I've been spoiled by all the great Indian restaurants in New York but this place is not up to par. After a week of Italian I just wanted to try a different cuisine. The food isn't bad but I've had better. The only dish I liked out of the 4 different dishes we ordered was the butter chicken. It was aromatic but wasn't too overpowering. Everything else was overly salty. The curry fish and the tandoori grill platter was so salty it wasn't even edible. On the other hand service was good the waiter was very accommodating. I told him the dish was too salty and he was kind enough to bring it back. Unfortunately the new dish he brought out was just as salty. I think I've learned my lesson, when in Italy just stick to Italian food. read more

After eating Italian food for days, we definitely needed a break... So, we looked for indian food using the yelp app and found Himalayas. The restaurant seems to be in a shady part of Rome, but we managed just fine around the area. They brought out complimentary pappadam and assorted pickle and sauces, which were good. The pappadam was oily though. We saw someone at another table eat a big scoop of pickle and started turning red and coughing... For the non-Indians out there, be careful with the pickle. It's kind of like wasabi where you don't want to eat too much... We ordered the chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, and mixed vegetable (carrot, cauliflower, peas, okra) dishes in addition to carrot halwa and chai tea for dessert. Since we like it on the spicier side, we asked them to make it extra spicy for the chicken dishes, and the food came out just like we like it, though a tad spicy.. But very good with raita and water to calm the spices. The chicken biryani was our favorite. The boneless chicken pieces were very well marinated/flavored. It was a little on the oily side, but had great taste. The mixed vegetable dish was also very good. We have been to many indian restaurants where the mixed vegetable dish was so-so, but Himalayas had a much better offering. Again, the mixed vegetable dish was on the oily side though. For dessert, we tried the carrot halwa. It had pretty good flavor, but could tell they reheated it up for us since the temperature was not even throughout, some portions were cold and some hot... We also ordered indian chai tea, which was good. The only qualms we had were the oil/ghee used a little bit on the excessive side and that some of the garlic/ginger spices were not minced finely enough where you could accidentally get a big piece that would overpower the flavor. Some people would say ghee/oil is definitely needed to enhance the flavors... So maybe, it was a necessary part to make everything taste good... read more

We had vegetarian items so cannot comment on the meat dishes. Vegetarian fare was much above expectations. The curries were spiced to perfection. Absolutely the place to go if you want North Indian food in Rome. We were visiting from NY and after 15 days in Italy could not even contemplate another pizza or pasta. Enter Himalaya's Kashmir. We had the Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Jalfarezi and Chicken Palak (spinach) with Naan. All were great and authentic. We grew up eating home cooked Indian food and this hit the SPOT. Not overly greasy like many other Indian places. The tea was authentic and great as well. Good value for money and highly recommended. read more
