Chicken Tikka Masala and veggie samosa on basmati rice with green condiment sauce
Page T.

**NEW LOCATION** 442 Uluniu Street. Same phone 808-262-1800. Much larger space with tables and seating somewhat similar to what Tokoname (the previous tenant) had. The vibe is a bit more upscale but the prices seem the same. I ordered takeout: chicken tikka masala and veggie samosas. It came with basmati rice and little containers of a green sauce, which I think has coriander and yogurt. The chicken was very tender and all was yummy. The estimated time was 20 minutes and it was about that long but I arrived later than that so am not sure. But it wasn't 45-60 minutes like at the old Kailua shopping center location. (And no chicken roaming around inside, lol.) It wasn't busy as it just opened in the new spot and there is lots of street parking on Sundays. (Whatever you do, don't park in the lane that leads to houses.) There was a party of four enjoying their dinner--without me asking, one of the men told me the food was great. Hope this quality keeps up after business picks up. I posted pics of the menu but those are available on their website.

Had lunch here. Food came out quickly, the staff working there was nice, and prices for the lunch special are reasonable. You get a ton off food so you could probably split it into two meals. I was the only person dining in but there were plenty of takeout orders. As for the food, I got the chicken tikka plate and some plain naan. The chicken was tender and flavored well, the curry was also tasty. The naan paired well with it all. The basmati rice was a little bland though. But that's minor. Overall, a good experience.

We were really hungry and placed a takeout order they gave us stale food, the food was smelly and tasted bad. The samosa has no salt.

Amazingly good, magical food. Five star food in a small, humble space. Did I say the food was outstanding?

Ask the Community - Himalayan Kitchen

Do they have new hours?

Yes lunch 11:00 -2:30

Can they do a Paneer Tikka in the tandoor?

Yes can do .., just not in the menu .. but if asked yes we can Do it .. you can text at 808--358-7158 if any questions too regarding the Menu

How are they with food allergy concerns?

We are cooked to order. We are very concerned and we cooked according to our customer service list.

Are there certain hours to call to place a take out order?

I called fairly regularly from 5-6:30 this evening (Monday) and got no response. I was really craving Indian food so finally my husband and I drove over. The restaurant was completely dark and there were no signs...have you shut down? There was no…

Why is it called Himalayan kitchen? Dishes sound like Indian dishes. Do they have Mongolian dumplings?

No Mongolian dumplings. They do have a few curries and dishes that are not traditionally Indian, but most of the menu is very similar to Indian food.

However, we had our fill of other asian cuisines so we finally checked it out. I knew it would be good since they have opened a sister restaurant on other parts of the island. Once you find a parking spot and you enter the place, the strong and delicious aromas hit you immediately. Just from the smell of the food, I knew we were in for a treat. They seated our family of 4 right away. Service was speedy and attentive. We were treated like one of the family with premier hospitality. The lassi's were delicious. I appreciated the large portion for those drinks. As I suspected, our eyes were too big for our bellies and we ordered too much to finish. I would recommend ordering family style if possible. The white rice comes with your meal. Don't forget that even though the entrees look like they are in small bowls, the sauces are rich and fill you up fast. Nevertheless, I suspect that no matter what you order here, it will be on point. Everything tasted wonderful. We very much enjoyed our dinner and the prices were decent for Hawaii. We will surely be back in the future.

Service is amazing and they're super friendly and helpful when we have questions. My coworker always gets the chicken briyani and a side of garlic cheese naan bread. He gets the same thing every week! I tried the butter chicken (10/10) it's perfectly sweet and flavorful! Comes with a side of rice that's seasoned very well! And I always get a side of naan bread too! Portions are reasonable but the briyani is a pretty large serving.

Minimal parking as it is shared with other shops. Once inside, plenty of seating, tables are setup for small parties but looks like it can accommodate larger groups. Staff is friendly and expect food to take 15-20m to arrive. They use traditional servicing bowls and the Naan Bread that served at the table looks perfect. I took my food to go, ordering the Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan. The heat level can be adjusted and the chicken was tasty and not drive for using white meat. It comes with white rice the size of a medium Chinese to-go white box. The bread was very flavorful and good. Pictures are up to date, to-go looked the same when opening the package. Since this was a to-go meal, the negatives was the bread being wrapped in foil and it was soft and becoming chewy. Would be nice to place in paper or parchment to help maintain the crispy. The other was no utensils or napkins, so make sure you have some or ask. I did not see any signs stating to request. Highly recommend to stop by even if alone. I added this to my list of places to come back to when I visit again.

Our faves are the lamb rogan josh, palak paneer, and of course the butter chicken. Their mango lassi is also so refreshing and a must whenever we come here I usually get the mulligatawny soup as well. it has a hearty texture from the added lentils and is very fragrant. They dont do fancy-schmancy stuff with a shaving of onion over the top of half an entrees worth of food then drizzle the plate with a design and smear it before charging you an arm and a leg. No sir. This place feeds tou and feeds you well. The serving size is enough to have you waddle down the steps and out to your vehicle. I ALWAYS fill the table with food, even when it is just me dining in. Freezing the leftovers has become a magical part of the experience. From the Samosas to the Momos (dumplings) to the tikka masala. I had a BBQ chicken on the bone (tandori) and it came on a hot griddle with onions carrots, green squash and tomatoes. The garlic naan is so delicious, but dip it in that sauce that coats the tikka masala and you will thank me later. The mango smoothie (Lassi) is amazing everything. They have 4 areas to sit in: Main dining area, balcony seating. An area that I will call the inner courtyard and a brightly lit room right off the courtyard (which is where I like to sit so my photos come out better lit). There really isn't a bad choice. Parking is abundant right outside in the pay lot, but we have found parking nearby for free. The service here has never been less than as amazing as the flavors upon the table. Local or tourist, I highly recommend this place to all.
