Amazing Art Expo sign
Stephanie T.

For 3 days only: Friday, August 29 - Sunday, August 31, there was a free Disney & Alice in Wonderland Art & Cosplay Expo in Hilton Providence Downtown Hotel. The website was easy to use to book the free tickets. The expo was open on Friday 6-9 pm and Saturday & Sunday 12-6 pm. I entered Hilton Providence Downtown Hotel on Saturday around 1:30pm and saw a sign that the Amazing Art Expo was on the 2nd floor. I headed upstairs and followed some more signs to the Amazing Art Expo. There was a table of prints selling for $15 each and free prints for sharing the event on Facebook or Instagram. The Amazing Art Expo had tables of Harry Potter, Studio Ghibli, Disney, Star Wars, Alice in Wonderland, and so much more prints. No photography was allowed in the room. The prints were selling 1 for $35 each, 2 for $30 each, 3 for $25 each, and 4+ for $25 each. David Sobolov, the Voice Actor for Emperor Kaido in "One Piece," Gorilla Grodd on The CW Network drama The Flash, and Sean Carlson, a freelance artist born and raised in New York, were both at the Amazing Art Expo. It was nice to walk around and see the different prints. There were a good amount of people.

Be advised, Hilton on Atwells is under major reconstruction - I just spent Friday night there - and would not if I had known about the construction. The noise is incessant and pervasive - from 8 am to 5 pm, weekends included. The only indication on the website is a small blurb saying the fitness center is closed due to maintenance. It is a mess - no internet and electricity is unstable as they work.

Room 2 double beds. Clean no issues

I was very satisfied with the proximity to the Dunkin Donuts Convention Center and within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, a CVS, and the Providence Place Mall. There is a Starbucks attached to the building, but there isn't an entrance from inside the hotel, but it is directly to the left when you exit the hotel. The majority of the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, with the exception of the gentleman working last night(3/19/22), we didn't make eye contact when talking and he body language expresed that he'd prefer to be anywhere but at work.. Our room was clean, the bathroom was clean, and everything was in proper working order. For me, the bed could have been firmer, but that is a preference. The only negative was there weren't any premium T.V. Channels. You stay at this hotel for the location. It does not describe itself as a luxury hotel; it is a basic 3-star hotel that I didn't have any negative experiences. Not going to blow you away with luxury, but it's a clean and well located hotel. I did let them know the U.S. Flag out front was worn and torn, and they said they said it would be replaced.

Antiquated AC system that was on 68 but felt like 75

I am not happy at all with this hotel. We stayed here for a wedding, and I should have done my investigation beforehand. Not worth the almost $300 we spent for that night. Maybe the price was high because of graduation season, but below is everything that went wrong with our stay. 1) the AC never got cold. We put it on 68 and it felt like 75 all through the night 2) the TV was working off and on. It was constantly giving us a no signal screen 3) the front desk service and car lot company was completely unhelpful. We had a handicapped placard and were unable to use the handicapped spot because people without a handicapped placard were parked there. We called for assistance and we're met with "it could take a while, there's parking across the street in the lot" 4) there isn't ANY complimentary coffee in the lobby. We had to go to the Starbucks, not attached - you need to walk out - to get coffee. But since the Hilton owns it, I COULDNT use my Starbucks rewards. 5) we weren't refunded for parking and were given the run around for who to call. The parking attendant was no help, and neither was the receptions during check out. 6) the curtan in the room would NOT close all the way, leaving a very annoying band of sunshine on our faces in the morning lol. I wouldn't recommend unless it's needed. Horrible experience, horrible service. Disappointed in this form a Hilton property.

There are two Hilton brands I tend to avoid, Hilton & Embassy Suite, as these two have seen much better days. Their newer brands are exceptional. I was in Providence on business, so I did not have a choice. The night shift desk agent was very nice. The revolving front door was broken with a temporary sign in place. The lobby was depressing and I avoided the Vig restaurant due to its poor reviews. The room was ok and the location is near some good restaurants.

This place is a mess, not worthy of the Hilton name. The entire hotel has a tired, worn-out vibe. The lobby's odor was nauseating. The first room (lower floor) we were placed in had a horrible stench. A worker came to the door with an air freshener that someone (a different room on the same floor) had ordered. He sprayed something that only made the room stench even worse. Our room was changed to an upper level (Hilton "Honors Executive" floor - see photo). Everything in the new room needed repair and/or replacement: torn furniture, rust stains in the bathroom, broken shower fixtures (see more photos). Definitely overpriced.

Definitely an unsafe hotel to stay at! I checked in on my Hilton app & they provided the digital key. I went to my room and someone was already assigned the room. The tv was on bathroom towels everywhere and a mess. I went to the front Desk and the lady who claimed to be a supervisor Cheney was rude, loud and ghetto. She refused to reach out to a manager saying it was too late to call the mgr on duty even though it was a safety issue. She downgraded my room no discount offered since I previously had a top floor kind bedroom purchased. I called the diamond desk and they said I would receive a call from the GM. Instead I received the attached email. He could clearly careless.... And insulted me with "depositing 10,000 points (which is not even worth a value of 1 night). I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. PS the room I'm in clearly has lock issues see pics.

The staff I'm here is extremely nice and very accommodating from the night auditors to the morning front desk supervisor she was practically helpful in believe her name is Chanise! However this hotel is in serious need of a remodel the walls are filthy half the tvs don't work and on top of that, the security guard was hassling my friend who was visiting!

Small holes on bedsheet & bed not done properly

It's so beautiful and historic, but what surprised us most was how welcoming and kind everyone was. We felt right at home. A very special thank you to Jenn, our shuttle bus operator -- she was AMAZING. So friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. She took us everywhere and made getting around so easy and fun. She really made our trip! We packed so much in -- great local eateries, walking around Brown University, wonderful museums, and fantastic vintage shops. But the absolute highlight was the WaterFire event. Absolutely magical and unforgettable. The Hilton was the perfect base for all of it. Clean, comfortable, great service, and ideal location. We can't wait to come back! Thank you Hilton Providence and thank you Jenn!

The only issue I had was that I requested a late check-out and the person working the counter really gave me a hard time about it. I understand that late check-outs aren't guaranteed, but her attitude about it was really off. She kept insisting that I need to speak with her manager to approve it, but she never offered to get the manager. I just gave up and decided to speak with someone else the next day. When I came by the next day, the person working let us have the 2pm check-out and the manager did happen to walk by and said it was not an issue at all. And it turns out the girl from the night before did mark me as a 1pm check-out. Honestly, though, this was still an issue because housekeeping came at 1pm to clean the room... The room itself was a room. Clean and standard to Hampton Inn. The bathroom was good, with a nice shower stall and good water pressure but a low flow toilet. My room was in a separate part of the building with only like 6 rooms on the floor. This was nice when it came to hotel noise. However, the windows are very thin and the complaints about car drag racing all night are not incorrect. The location of this hotel was fantastic, an easy walk to many of the sights in the area. One day we decided to take the shuttle and that was fabulous. This hotel is worth staying at for the shuttle alone.

So this will help the review. The Thursday night we stayed was my mother and I, she got a junior suite. It had 2 king size beds, a beautiful living room area with a lot of seating and tv, a huge walk in closet and beautiful decor all around. This was a perfect set up for all the girls to get ready for the wedding the next day, it was spacious and made for beautiful pictures. Some areas do need a little cleaning up, and some decor needed a little tweaking but overall the room was magical. We stayed on the 10th floor and overlooked the city, it was a beautiful view. An issue that I ran into was the doors slam HARD. You'll get used to it but it sounds so loud you can hear everyone leaving their rooms if they don't slowly close the door themselves. Also the toilets when you sit they move, kind of feels like they're broken even though they aren't so be mindful of that. And then being that high up be mindful it takes about 5-10 minutes for the shower water to warm up. It does get extremely hot after that waiting period but if you didn't know you'd think there's no hot water. The check in process both times was pretty smooth. When my husband and I checked in for our stay, the lady who checked us in was pushy and kind of rude. I didn't like her very much, an older taller woman. All the younger people were sweet as pie and very helpful. We stayed In a one bed and this was excessively smaller to what I had the night before of course but we worked with it. I think for the price point for this room it didn't match. Yet again we needed the hotel for pictures and the ambience, and it did its job being able to take pictures in the lobby, the grand staircase the balcony area all of those were worth it. But I would never get that room again , it's not worth it. The decor is beautiful don't get me wrong but we had too much stuff from the wedding that room became extremely tight- fast. The elevators are very small, and creepy. But they did their job. The security personnel were great. They did their job, were great to talk to, and very kind. They even helped us navigate places- when we had questions. They became like our friends because we used them a lot since so many of us were in and out to prep for my wedding adventures. All and all I had a great time.

ROOM: The suite was pretty spacious, with two king beds, a separate living room with a sofa. Had a fridge, coffee maker, safe, etc. The closet was huge, but oddly only had 5 clothes hangers. The sink area and bathroom were small and felt really cramped--also had poor ventilation. HOTEL/SERVICE: Overall, the hotel itself felt old and outdated. The hallway looked like it needed to be redecorated. Parts of the hotel (and room too) looked modern but nothing matched--it was like they threw a bunch of colorful decor and placed them all together. Front desk staff were not very friendly either. One good perk they had was they gave us two daily $15 food/beverage vouchers to use at the cafe downstairs. They also had a restaurant attached to the hotel so that was convenient if you were hungry. LOCATION: Good location, close to all the downtown hot spots, within walking distance. Also, there's a self-parking garage across the street. However, the hotel is located right across a park, so there was an event throughout the day which was extremely noisy and we could hear the loud music--was very disruptive when we were trying to rest.

Although the sheets were worn with holes in them, I was willing to overlook it because of the room size, view, and bathroom size. The second room on the east wing was smaller in space and size. The chair was in front of the mirror which was oddly placed. It was not as clean either with hair in the bathroom and towels upon arrival. Still, it was a good night's sleep. Just nothing to write home about. Great location though. You're right next to the mall and cvs and right across the street is the bus center and 2 blocks from train station. The rooms are spacious, but not necessarily in a good way. There is a tremendous amount of wasted space, the decor feels dated, and the rooms lack the modern technology and upgrades you would expect from a hotel charging these rates. Even the beds aren't particularly comfortable, which should be a basic expectation at this price point. The hallways are equally uninspiring and could certainly use a refresh. The lobby layout is another head scratcher. You have an upstairs restaurant, a small coffee and snack bar, and then a flight of stairs leading down to the registration desk. Add in the oddly arranged elevators serving the different towers, and the entire property feels unnecessarily confusing and poorly designed. Nothing about the layout feels particularly welcoming or luxurious. For a hotel attempting to position itself as a premium destination, the overall experience is surprisingly underwhelming. It feels like a property that may have been impressive years ago but hasn't kept pace with modern hotel standards. And frankly, at nearly $300 a night, staying in an otherwise rather dismal and boring downtown Providence makes the value proposition even harder to justify. **Bottom line:** The Omni Providence isn't terrible, but it certainly isn't impressive. It's an aging hotel charging luxury prices without delivering a luxury experience. There are far better ways to spend $300 a night. Disappointing overall.
