So this will help the review. The Thursday night we stayed was my mother and I, she got a junior suite. It had 2 king size beds, a beautiful living room area with a lot of seating and tv, a huge walk in closet and beautiful decor all around. This was a perfect set up for all the girls to get ready for the wedding the next day, it was spacious and made for beautiful pictures. Some areas do need a little cleaning up, and some decor needed a little tweaking but overall the room was magical. We stayed on the 10th floor and overlooked the city, it was a beautiful view. An issue that I ran into was the doors slam HARD. You'll get used to it but it sounds so loud you can hear everyone leaving their rooms if they don't slowly close the door themselves. Also the toilets when you sit they move, kind of feels like they're broken even though they aren't so be mindful of that. And then being that high up be mindful it takes about 5-10 minutes for the shower water to warm up. It does get extremely hot after that waiting period but if you didn't know you'd think there's no hot water. The check in process both times was pretty smooth. When my husband and I checked in for our stay, the lady who checked us in was pushy and kind of rude. I didn't like her very much, an older taller woman. All the younger people were sweet as pie and very helpful. We stayed In a one bed and this was excessively smaller to what I had the night before of course but we worked with it. I think for the price point for this room it didn't match. Yet again we needed the hotel for pictures and the ambience, and it did its job being able to take pictures in the lobby, the grand staircase the balcony area all of those were worth it. But I would never get that room again , it's not worth it. The decor is beautiful don't get me wrong but we had too much stuff from the wedding that room became extremely tight- fast. The elevators are very small, and creepy. But they did their job. The security personnel were great. They did their job, were great to talk to, and very kind. They even helped us navigate places- when we had questions. They became like our friends because we used them a lot since so many of us were in and out to prep for my wedding adventures. All and all I had a great time.

How does a room that entertainers that are performing at the PVD fest not have an ironing board? I just expected more from all the attention they put on certain places here in Providence. The city has to not favorite places that the city maybe tied to because there are other hotels we have stayed at and didn't have any complaints at all. It's the lower level of Marriott's long-term stay properties. The rooms are not really suites ... it's more like a regular hotel room with a small alcove with a desk. Those expecting an actual suite (which I've always defined as a separate bedroom) will be surprised to find a regular hotel room. The not so good ... - Pool is always ice cold. I don't think it is heated. Hot tub is warm-ish but kind of industrial feeling. There is a big glass window looking into the pool from the lobby. Not fun being watched while swimming. - The bathrooms are small and sparse with a toilet and a shower. The water pressure and showerhead were terrible. The water trickles out making a shower totally unenjoyable. Tubs of shampoo and body wash on the wall. The worst part is the empty bathroom acts as an echo chamber and the door is right next to the bed. Any tinkle ... or other sounds one might make in the bathroom can be heard as clear as a bell by anyone laying in bed. Don't be shy! - There are small maintenance issues here and there. Our roller shade was broken and only raised 3/4 of the way, meaning it was kind of dark because the shade was blocking the top of the window during the day. There were also water stains on the ceiling and rust on the shower door. - The fridge in the room barely worked and our food did not stay cold enough that I felt safe eating it after a day or two. The drinks were also barely kept cold. - Metal door to the room magifies sound, so any hallway noise feels like it's actually inside the room. The good ... - The staff here are great. The front desk was able to solve any problem and didn't act as though they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. We felt like guests. The breakfast attendant also was good and kept the place spotless. Although on the second day of our stay, they were out of most everything. Best scrambled eggs I've had at any cheap hotel buffet. - It's not luxurious by any means but the room seemed clean and the decor is a bit dark but comfortable. Bed is nothing special and linens feel cheap but no complaints. - One of the best in-room work station set-ups I've found with a comfortable chair and desk with plenty of space to spread out. - Very easy to get a 2 p.m. check out as an Elite guest. They didn't even hesitate to approve it, which is nice. Normally hotels fight you tooth and nail when you ask for a late check out, even as an Elite Marriott member. - Plenty of parking. It's a shame they don't have a bar, or little restaurant ... but I guess the area has lots of options. Tavern on the Square and just about every chain restaurant you can imagine and lots of fast food, including Shake Shack and Chick Filet. Pro tip ... there is a grocery store nearby named Dave's which has the best pizza by the slice and fresh soups and salads. Much better than fast food! Overall, there is nothing special about this hotel other than it's clean, comfortable and right off the highways.

The gym was ok, I'm not sure how often it is cleaned or attended to. The water station with cups was missing cups every day, so my hunch is it's infrequent. Lastly, echoing what someone else shared with the breakfast, I was a little shocked how much was pre-packaged cereals, Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, muffins, etc. I was grateful they had milk alternatives available, but otherwise not the best showing there either.

For myself, I don't need a B&B with the pricey high-end amenities. When I'm on vacation or traveling, I'm either trying to get away from it all, or can drive to a shop specializing in those things if I really must. Gilbert's was perfect for me. An old family farm, converted to a B&B, was quiet and comfortable. I appreciate the classic, not-so-modern, character of an old home. The interior was tastefully and simply decorated with antique period pieces supplemented with modern decor. The yellow pine hardwood floors throughout the house were gorgeous and were what caught my eye immediately. The old barn and paddock were hiding places for the three outdoor cats. The wild turkeys occasionally perched in the tall trees. The proprietor, an adorable woman, showed me through the house with all the nooks and crannies and hidden rooms that made me realize the house was a lot bigger than it appears from the outside. I couldn't have gone wrong with any room I picked. What made it feel like home, were the interactions with the owners, who greeted me, and the other guests, both upon arrival and at the end of the day when we returned from our adventures. At end end of my visit, I didn't want to leave. I already felt like I was home. And the good-bye hug went a long way to making me wish I could stay and and the same time start planning the next visit. Just like a visit to mom 's or grandma's.

Off the lobby is the breakfast area and it was a really nice touch that they had coffee, tea and water available all day. The room was also very clean and a good size with a small fridge and microwave. I was very impressed with the quality of the furnishings. One issues in the room though was that the pillows appeared tiny, like little squares. It was only after rolling off it it a few times that I realized they'd taken regular pillows and folded them in half before stuffing them into the pillow cases. Odd, but I just unfolded them and that was better. The other issue was that the walls must be super thin because I could hear everything on the TV in the room next door...even at 4am. Also someone was slamming doors repeatedly in the wee hours of the morning. I'm not talking about two times, it went on for a long while and no one from the management seemed to notice/care. I know it's not totally the fault of the workers, but man, when it happens that much I sure wish they would step in. Still, I'd stay here again, maybe the noise was a one off. The bottom line is that this place is clean and comfortable with some very nice extra little touches.
