Our tour guide, Larry, was phenomenal. He's animated, engaging, and has a way of making you feel like you're living the story rather than just hearing it. He made great eye contact with everyone, pulled the audience into every moment, and had us hanging on his every word. I was a little worried my daughter might lose interest, but she was completely immersed from beginning to end. The tour itself is incredibly informative, and you leave with so much more knowledge than you came in with. If you have the option, request Larry! you won't regret it! The only downside was that the tours are packed. At times people were left standing in the hallway trying to hear, and during the basement portion (which we paid extra for), the line stretched out the door and many of us couldn't hear what Larry was saying during the final stop. It's a small disappointment for an otherwise exceptional experience, and I hope they consider limiting group sizes so everyone can fully enjoy the tour. Even with that, this is a place I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. It was unforgettable, and I'd go back again in a heartbeat. I'm hoping my daughter choose another camp in the area so we can stay the night next time.

Here are some issues we experienced during our stay at the Christopher Dodge House: My first morning after shaving, the bathroom sink had a slow drain. I have a sink full of shaving cream. I told the manager at breakfast and I received a text around 11am saying they'd fix the issue. I left around 1:30pm, the housekeeping-maintenance staff was gone! I spoke with Kate, the front desk manager who was the one who fixed the sink, made the bed and gave us fresh towels. (Love Kate) Our room was very charming. A large King Size bed with a pretty quilt gave us the feeling that we're staying in someone's home. From the exposed brick in the bedroom to the homemade cookies, it was all very welcoming. When Kate gave us a tour, we were shown the coffee station. This was all free but the bottled water is on the honor system and not free? Strange but ok... Let's break it down: Bath products: Dove Shampoo/Conditioner/Body Wash. It did the job, was it special? Nah. Bath towels were thick and plush. Bed/Pillows: Firm mattress, firm pillows. I guess it all depends on your preference. Breakfast: This was some High School Home Economics, basic food served to us. Each day we had two choices written on the blackboard, substitutes weren't mentioned to us. The first day I chose French Toast with bacon. The bacon was overcooked and the French Toast was Wonder bread with hardly any cinnamon. Pure Maple Syrup on each table was a plus. The continental breakfast communal table had cereal, hard boiled eggs and toast. A very basic breakfast selection. Today my wife and I both had the special of the day: Blueberry Dutch Baby. My wife's breakfast was wet and jiggly? Each day we left the dining room underwhelmed. Parking: If you stayed in a hotel, it would cost on average $30 per night. We had free parking during our stay. I had leg surgery a few weeks ago, to check into the B&B it's a very steep staircase to get to the front desk. If you have mobility issues, this would be a challenge. Christopher Dodge House is a beautiful, New England Bed and Breakfast in Providence RI. Free parking and close proximity to everything was a plus.

We did a four night stay at this inn. For us, the location could not be beat because family was…read morevery close. This inn consists of two very old homes side-by-side. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the second house, but was told that the rooms in the main house are a bit nicer. This is not a new made to look old inn, rather historic and romantic homes. Our room was very comfortable. However it took a bit to get it right. At first we could not get a window to close because the counterweight was stuck in the wall. The owner had to come late at night and cut the cord to the counterweight and close the window. The bathroom Windows counterweight had already been cut, I'm not totally repaired. In addition, the window air-conditioning was very loud. It took some jiggling and repositioning of the unit to get it to an acceptable level. However, the air-conditioning worked very well. I am sure that with with give me a stork home the maintenance is ongoing. Just need to watch and make sure that the maintenance doesn't slip. I read through some of the reviews about not caring bags, non-flexibility of the breakfast not make the order meals, and the Wi-Fi. I don't think ever in a bed-and-breakfast/never seen anybody carrying bags. The breakfast staff worked very hard and produced an abundance of tasty food. They did ask if we wanted something different each morning then what was on the planned mignon. The cornmeal blueberry muffins were absolutely fabulous. Joy did a great job with all of the food preparation. The breakfast room was wonderful and very pleasant to start the day. Now the wifi - tried to connect several times on multiple devices, however it was never successful. The Wi-Fi system needs work. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay. We would definitely return.

The stunning antique decor, delicious breakfast and jacuzzi tub were a perfect balance of comfort and hospitality. It was whisper quiet, we enjoyed looking at all of the historical artifacts throughout the house as well as the jazz music playing at night on the sound system in the foyer downstairs when we came back from our night on the town. For breakfast, we had a delicious spread of sausage, eggs made to order, home fries, fresh fruit, toast and fresh sticky apple cinnamon rolls made by Sydney and Regina. The coffee was freshly brewed, all the while we had some great conversations with other guests in the dining room. I highly recommend this property for couples that are enjoying a weekend away from the everyday chaos, history fanatics, honeymooners, baby and bridal showers and small weddings. They had a bar with two staff members that kept the line moving and the drinks flowing with great personalities. The passed appetizers were all delicious. The staff that passed them around was also pleasant and not at all pushy or intrusive. Dinner was excellent. The staff was excellent. Room coffee - those little shrink wrapped trays common to most Marriotts sucks. But the closet, fridge and microwave were all in tip top shape. Bathroom was clean and mold free. Feather free pillows too. We would definitely stay here again.
