Koi pond behind the B&B
Patrick M.

My partner and I traveled to Bristol to attend a wedding. Doug and Liz accommodated our travel plans as they had a room avaiable . They are just exquisite people who love what they do! The home itself is a historic fixture in the heart of downtown Bristol with walking access to so many great things! Bristol boasts some of the best dining and cocktails in the east bay and the island so the location is second to none. The home is just lovely with precise attention to detail. The kitchen and eating areas have been completely renovated along with a brand new guest room. We stayed in the Garden Room and it was beautiful. We had a very comfortable bed, tons of plush towels, several windows with one in the private ensuite providing generous amounts of natural light. The bathroom was large with a large shower - powerful water pressure with nice hot water. We decided to sleep in a bit in the morning and the house was very quiet. Our room overlooked the adorable little back yard that boasted two sitting areas. One was around a lovely patio and the other was next to the koi pond in the yard. This would be the perfect place to have a cocktail or just spend some romantic time alone. Breakfast was so wonderful! Liz and Doug make quite the spread and we were very impressed. For breakfast we had frittata and toast with baked candied pears. Everything was scrumptious! The coffee was hot, fresh and perfect! Liz and Doug love to engage in conversation with their guests and are genuinely interested in where you come from and what brings you to Bristol. This is what I love about a B&B and especially about William's Grant - you feel so at home you almost forget you are away! If you are going to stay in the east bay look no further. You are taken care of with top notch service and attention. We will certainly be back to stay with them again as we could not imagine staying anywhere else! Enjoy!

View from the front entrance of the beautiful William's Grant Inn. What a perfect and adorable colonial abode!

I chose to accommodate myself, my mother, my then fiance's mother and aunt, and my 5 bridesmaids at the William's Grant Inn after some research into affordable, but adorable B&B's in the Bristol area. I am so happy we stayed here as Diane and Warren were wonderful hosts, who made us feel welcome and at home the day before my wedding. The various rooms have different themes and colors. There was even a quaint koi pond in the backyard! We rented out all the rooms the night before our wedding, and all of the women enjoyed their stay in comfortable beds and with warm showers and clean robes to boot! Diane and Warren's hospitality and great service were even more evident the following morning (my wedding day). Our complementary breakfast included delicious, hearty and home-made french toast, muffins, yogurt, fruit, OJ, milk, coffee, tea and eggs. We used the sitting/common room upstairs for getting ready, having my freelance hair and makeup artists work with us here. We were also allowed an extended checkout time of 1pm, and the hosts were gracious enough to hold our belongings and luggage for pick up after the wedding. My wedding took place at Linden Place in Bristol, an amazing venue, just a few blocks from this quaint inn. I highly recommend this inn to those who relish in homegrown service, hospitality, and vintage, adorable flair! Disclaimer: I thought most of the beautiful rooms at the inn had somewhat of a feminine appeal, so check with your boyfriend or husband if they can take the cuteness :)

Cute place and nice location. Confusing parking situation. I was told to move my car upon arrival…read moreto a lot down the street. It was pouring rain and was 4:30 pm. There was plenty of parking at the hotel. I was told I could move the car before sunset. So I did. The lot down the street had a sign for a nearby restaurant but not the hotel. When I called to check if I was in the right lot, I could hear the staff laughing on the other end of the phone. Not a nice feeling! Upon checkout I found another staff member who said I could have left my car until 1 am. Yet still, I would have to move my car to a lot down the street. I picked this location as it had parking. Rooms are small but fine. Please know that unless you pick a suite you have to park down the street and move your car. To the hotel, please train your staff.

The vending machines were all out of order and when I called down to the front office for extra water bottles I was hung up on. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Ever. The restaurant in the parking lot is also filthy, trash bags overflowing and leaking onto the boardwalk. People outside smoking and nip bottles everywhere. So much false advertisement about this whole location, what a waste of a nice view of the water. Atrocious.

Stayed for a cold winter weekend in February to get away. This is one of those reviews I hesitate…read moreto write because I don't want to let the cat out of the bag but we had a great experience. There are surely some nice places to stay in Newport but we wanted something a bit more eclectic and unique/boutique. When we saw the pictures of the decor and that each room was decorated uniquely, we were sold. We learned when we arrived that this is operated almost like a bed and breakfast with Will and his partner as the hosts. Check-in is available until 8 p.m. and the hosts live on property and can texted or called with any needs after hours. Each morning a cold gourmet breakfast is provided with takeaway items. Everything is homemade and unique. There are no hot items such as breakfast sandwiches but you'll find poached pears, chia seed pudding, fruit cup, hard boiled eggs, etc. The breakfast items were a bit more sugar-centered than we normally eat, it was a nice treat/calorie splurge. The room was spotlessly clean, as were the common areas. Hand sanitizer was located throughout the hotel and most guests wore masks. Little touches like free bottled water, french presses and coffee, and open cabinets for glasswear. They also had a wine hour with free glasses of wine. There is a big stone firepit with chairs which they will turn on when you want to use it. This was nice for a cigar and a glass of wine in the cold. We stayed in the St. George Suite on the 3rd floor. It had some funky purple wallpaper and a mini-library/gas fireplace in the small sitting room area. It felt hip and eclectic and fun. The windows had water views in the distance which was nice. The room also had a Tivoli radio (unfortunately bluetooth connection was impossible) and a wall mounted tv. A skylight above the bed was nice but ensured an early morning wakeup as there was no way we could find to close it. The bathroom shower was amazing. It was literally almost the size of our bedroom with 3 showerheads and a little thing with jets. It had a skylight so lots of natural light and a small bench. The white marble was classy and the water temperature was good. We loved the shower! The only thing we did not like about the bathroom is that it was right next to the bed which could potentially make things awkward soundwise. The doors on the rooms also did not to much to protect the sounds. We could hear others' conversations clearly and were all 'treated' to quite the 2 a.m. lovemaking performance by our hallway neighbors. That was really the only fault we could find with our stay. Overall, if you are looking for unique and classy, this is a great place to stay. The design elements are unique, the hosts are friendly and thoughtful and it's very comfortable and clean. It's one street's walking distance of the famous Cliffwalk (bring a mask, even though outdoors people wear masks in RI). You can drive or uber to downtown quickly and there are a few restaurants that are walkable. I also will commend the property for not charging the ridiculous 'resort fees' or parking fees that many properties charge. I'd rather know the total price upfront vs. being charged $30 for wifi and newspapers and am glad this hotel doesn't do the resort fee nonsense.
