Cute place and nice location. Confusing parking situation. I was told to move my car upon arrival to a lot down the street. It was pouring rain and was 4:30 pm. There was plenty of parking at the hotel. I was told I could move the car before sunset. So I did. The lot down the street had a sign for a nearby restaurant but not the hotel. When I called to check if I was in the right lot, I could hear the staff laughing on the other end of the phone. Not a nice feeling! Upon checkout I found another staff member who said I could have left my car until 1 am. Yet still, I would have to move my car to a lot down the street. I picked this location as it had parking. Rooms are small but fine. Please know that unless you pick a suite you have to park down the street and move your car. To the hotel, please train your staff. read more

Stayed here for a work trip. Staff is awful, rooms are terrible, had a broken toilet in our room and they provided no help. The vending machines were all out of order and when I called down to the front office for extra water bottles I was hung up on. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Ever. The restaurant in the parking lot is also filthy, trash bags overflowing and leaking onto the boardwalk. People outside smoking and nip bottles everywhere. So much false advertisement about this whole location, what a waste of a nice view of the water. Atrocious. read more

I called and rescheduled for this upcoming weekend. I was told I had to pay in full because I was rescheduling and did a room change. I didn't think anything of it and agreed. My husband is now sick with Covid. I called today and spoke with Megan (Supervisor) who said we cannot reschedule because I paid in full. I had no choice last week but to pay in full. I attended a wedding here with my bf earlier in June so this review is about the venue and the facilities. 3.5 stars. We didn't stay overnight at the hotel, they required a 2 night stay and we were only there for 1 night. It was an outdoor wedding, in the waterfront pavilion right next to the water. The ceremony and the dinner took place at the same location. It was a colder June day, so they had to close up the canopy, with these transparent shades. I recommend heated outdoor lamps which some outdoor dining places use in weathers like this! The outdoor canopy area does not have a bathroom for wedding goers and I believe that was one of the biggest cons, because if it rained (which it didn't), we would all have to go in the water (jk) or the nearest bathroom which was located a walk away - back into one of the buildings, around a 5 min walk. I believe they had exact number of seats during the ceremony, short walk for the bride to walk up to the podium. Pretty cute, but tightly seated. I remember lamb chops (which I didn't get to try!) and a burger bar, along with the charcuterie board contents for the cocktail hour. Burger bar was very creative. While the Bristol Harbor Inn is in a beautiful location, that's about the only positive I can offer. The rooms are extremely small, but the real issue--and why I'm writing this review--is far more serious. We stayed here recently and discovered something absolutely revolting. Like many hotels, they use that middle comforter sandwiched between two sheets to give the illusion of cleanliness. However, in the morning, my husband opened his eyes to find what appeared to be either blood or fecal matter on that middle comforter--inches from his face. This was not a small stain and made it painfully obvious that the bedding had not been properly laundered between guests. It was a complete biohazard and made us feel sick. We checked out immediately rather than spend another moment there. I alerted the front desk via text (as they had texted us the night before), but received no response. When I physically went to the front desk to report this disgusting find, the young woman there said she gave us a "slight discount." That "slight discount" turned out to be $28.98 off a $325 stay--an insult considering the health risk and the fact that we didn't even stay for the full duration. I followed up with a phone call a few days later asking to speak to a manager--none was available at 9:30 AM on a Wednesday. The same front desk clerk answered and informed me that no additional adjustments could be made. This experience was deeply unsettling, and it's clear the hotel either doesn't take cleanliness seriously or doesn't train their staff properly. If you're planning to stay here, I strongly urge you to inspect the bed thoroughly--pull it apart and check every layer. No one should ever have to wake up to another guest's bodily fluids. read more

Booked 3 rooms as we were attending a wedding nearby and other family was booked here. I should have checked Yelp first. Very overpriced for what you get. 2 of our 3 rooms were ready when we arrived. 403 we didn't check into until later that night at 945. The floor was wet and smelled of must and mold. No other rooms available. Next day offered 10 discount. Was then told it would be 30%. Never happened. Im not cheap but for $500 a night I expected it to be nicer. Live and learn read more

This place is THE most absurdly managed hotel I've experienced in the last five (5) years in terms of guest parking. We pay a premium to stay in Room 403 a supposed premium suite elevated above two (2) parking spaces. Problem is that those two spaces are unusable and the hotel gives parking privileges to other rooms but not this supposed suite they rented to us for around $375/night. Undoubtedly, the hotel is merely sharing parking spaces as the common area of what is actually a strip mall. There are parking spaces for other businesses including construction equipment and milk delivery guys. But the only logical inference to make of the parking situation and how managers deal with it is that apparently the hotel actually has no authority to provide parking for guests other than a couple of suites. They surely don't tell guests of this situation if this is the fact. Bottom line: DONT RENT ROOM 403 because it has no assigned parking and the bar patrons are rowdy until 12-2am and they like to congregate directly below the room, the milkman has no qualms about banging on the building at 3am and cursing guests to their face about having access to the storage area beneath the room, and the management exhibits a could not care less attitude about the parking needs for guests of this suite. It's not worth a penny over $75/night as the treatment is more akin to any random Motel 6 than it is a premium or even low-end average hotel. read more

We stayed at the Inn for the RWU graduation weekend and had a beautiful room looking out on the water. It was lovely and the woman who checked us in was delightful. Negatives would include the sole person working the front desk has many duties. The result is going to the deck for something and nobody is there. At times, one could wait over ten minutes for help. For a graduation weekend, more help should have been assigned. The parking is fair, but to be on the water more than makes up for that. read more

Don't do it. Lol. I didn't think to check Yelp reviews before I booked. Wish I had. The pics on the web site are not going to match the room you get. Also, they will give you a Queen bed, call it a "Standard King" and stand by that. I have a Queen bed at home so I know exactly how we fit in it. It's hilarious to me that they pull this stunt and think people just won't notice? Anyway, after checking in and seeing the size of our room, the size of our bed and how nothing matched the description in my e-mail reservation, I called the front desk to explain I think we were given the wrong room. At one point I said "our room also says vaulted ceilings and we don't seem to have that." She said "Where are you reading that? I don't know where you got that from but that's only in our double bed rooms" I look at my e-mail again and it clearly says "Standard King, vaulted celings." I could care less about the ceilings, but it was just definitely another sign we were in the wrong room. This is the same woman trying to tell me a Queen bed was a King. There was no point in arguing, she was NOT having it, lol. Our room was painfully small, very hard for two people to get ready at once. It was loud, shoddy, creepy as hell and I don't even mind about the parking situation. So wished we had booked at a chain. Watch your bill if you do book there. The management at this hotel is horrible. First, they double-booked our suite which had been booked 8 months prior for a wedding party. They were incredibly unhelpful in dealing with this issue which they caused, and they refused to take accountability or apologize for the situation. The gentleman at the front desk also attempted to double charge us, and hurried us out of the room we were put in because of their mistake. The Bristol Harbor Inn has a terrific location next to the harbor and walkable to many restaurants and shops. The room was adequate with one small window, slightly musty smell, bathroom was updated nicely. Know that there is an extra fee $25 charged for "amenities" - it was explained this was for "coffee, water, parking". There was no water, a tiny coffee machine in the room that went unused and parking was not on-site but down the road at the library. This amenity fee is a joke. The town is very charming and worth a weekend visit. read more

I booked this hotel twice so I could stay in the area to deal with some family business. I could not have been happier with this hotel. The location is absolutely amazing. You can walk to all that Bristol has to offer. The check in and out was super efficient, and the two different rooms I booked were recently and tastefully renovated. I do see some older, less favorable reviews. However, it's obvious that major renovations had taken place. The king beds were very comfortable, and the linens were high quality. The floor-through suite I had booked even had an Electrolux washer and dryer. The staff is very friendly, and suites even come with reserved parking spaces. I cannot wait to return. read more

I'm just about to check out, and am astounded that they are starting construction on the stairs right outside my room at 7:30 am. It feels like they are hammering and cutting right in my room. Yesterday at 7am they drove a man lift and parked it outside of my window. At 7 am with the back up alarm. I find it totally inappropriate that they did not inform guests of impending construction. If you want to sleep past 7, don't stay here. Other irritations: you can't park your car in their lot overnight, you have to park it down the street and walk. You can't enter the gym without being escorted, and it's difficult to find staff at the early morning hours I like to work out. I will not return. read more

Do not stay at this hotel unless you want to pay unreasonable rates for poor service. We had a 2 night stay booked. We arrived at approximately 5pm this past Thursday. The person at the service desk definitely thought I was doing her a favor by being there. I checked into our room which is much smaller than pictures on the site. The air conditioner was off and when we turned it on dust flew from the vents. The vents were loaded with dust. The room we checked into had industrial water pipes and shut off valves outside our door and very close to the entry. My wife hit her head on them as we entered the room. The shower does not have a bath mat and a face towel is used instead. I went to see the desk clerk to discuss the lack of cleanliness and the pipes. She apologized and did not take any action other than to tell me to speak to the manager tomorrow. On Friday morning I spoke to a supervisor since the manager was not available and she upgraded to a different room. I mentioned the issues and she was aware. The bottom line is we made the mistake of staying here. Do not make the same mistake. We could have done better at a Best Western or chain hotel. This is NOT a hotel that is deserving of the rates they charge and is NOT even close to becoming one to consider. read more

I think I'd probably recommend this place to travelers. I work in Bristol and only needed to stay when I had some car trouble one week. I don't know what other places in Bristol cost (here it's about $120 a night for a King bed), but it's right on the water and you're right in the middle of everything that Bristol has to offer, so it seems like a good deal to me. I thought the staff was really nice, and they have fresh fruit and cookies at the desk for guests. I had a King bed room which was upgraded to a "better room" for whatever reason, but it was tiny as could be, probably the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in NY, San Fran, etc. who are notorious for teeny rooms). Though, for one person it was totally fine. It'd probably be fine to two people too. I did however think the fireplace was super cute and the bathroom looked very pristine and luxurious with it's little lion embroidered towels. The bed was very comfortable and all done up with good linens. The "breakfast" is nothing more than your usual dry continental breakfast with some cereals, english muffins and pastries, but it's not bad. The pastries were really good, I actually ganked some and brought them to work for my colleagues. So yeah, I'd recommend based on location, and the price seems really good for Bristol. read more

What an unfriendly experience for my daughter's wedding. They double booked the room we paid for 8 months in advance, and were very unhelpful in making up for their mistake- splitting us up and forcing us to cram hair and makeup prep into a tiny room- then trying to rush us out. Parking is shared with multiple businesses, forcing us to spend a lot of time moving our cars many times to find legal overnight parking. My company hosts our Christmas party at this hotel every year, and I've been coming for 2 years now. The rooms are a little old fashioned in my opinion, but I can't really complain if I'm not paying for it. For those who are actually paying out of their pocket to stay at this hotel, the beds are stiff, the sheets are rough, the rooms are small, and the bathroom is pretty old. The one good thing is that you'll be located near the water which gives you a pretty nice view. Thei restaurant connected to the hotel isn't too bad either. I usually get the steak since our parties are catered. Beware, they do not restock their vending machines. After a long night of partying, we woke up thirsty for water but the vending machine was all out of water bottles! We were left with coke or sprite. I personally wouldn't pay to stay here, but you could do a lot worse. read more

I'm not sure what the recent complaint that there's "no wi-fi in the rooms" is about. I'm typing this, in my room, using the hotels wi-fi, which is both fast and stable. My room is quiet and it has drapes that block all the light. But, there is a bar next door to the hotel, so you may want to request a room away from the bar. Bristol's a nice little town and you're going to pay a bit of a premium to stay in the only hotel in the middle of a nice little town that does a lot of tourist trade. This is reflected in the price of the BHI, but it's a really nice little place with well kept and comfortable rooms. It's well worth the extra $20 a night to stay here, where you're within walking distance of everywhere you might want to go to. read more

We stayed here over the weekend for JP's college friend's wedding. I don't have any major complaints like the other reviewers...the Inn is centrally located in Bristol, we could easily walk to restaurants, bars and the church where the ceremony was held so it was nice to park the car and not worry about it until we left. The staff seemed helpful enough. Since we were taking a red-eye I called the night we were leaving to inquire about an early check-in for the following day. I was told "no problem," and let them know we would be arriving most likely between 11 AM and Noon. Well, when we arrived our room wasn't ready. We were tired and assured that the room would be ready within the hour. We decided to go find some food, but as we were walking out the front desk said our room would now be ready in 15 minutes. It was nice to see them make an extra effort to accommodate two weary travelers. We were on the third floor which has a weird layout, walking past some "antiques" for sale to get to our non-view room (we only paid $209/night for the room, the view rooms were running more). The elevator is pretty scary, we stuck to the stairs. Room wasn't huge, but not cramped either. Had a fireplace which obviously went unused with 80 degree East Coast days. Bathroom was a good size, but towels weren't the nicest. You receive a complimentary continental breakfast with your stay. I didn't make it down but JP ran down one morning and grabbed a yogurt, english muffin and a bagel. Apparently they were already out of fruit, which you think they'd plan ahead with a sold out inn for the wedding. All in all, we had a clean room and comfortable bed to stay in Bristol and enjoy JP's friend's wedding. I am sure there are tons of other much more quaint lodging options in Bristol if that is what you are after. read more

This is a classic case of pictures being very misleading, as well as their claim of a fully renovated hotel. Very uncomfortable beds with pancake flat pillows. A curtain as a closet door. An outdated bathroom with the exception of new tile flooring (the extent of the renovation claim). While the location is waterfront, the rooms barely have a view as there is a large tent and restaurant directly in front of the hotel and small windows. The walls and windows are also paper thin, letting in any and all noises. Our travel agent had booked us into a King with Fireplace, however that's not what we received, instead they put us in a standard room and said they didn't have any fireplace rooms available. Our agent had even called over the phone to confirm the fireplace room at the time of booking. The front desk could seem to care less about this. Total bill was still the same of course. We thought about checking out all together and going to another hotel, but ultimately decided to make it work. But we will never return, nor will our travel agent be recommending this spot, I am sure. While the staff is nice, the management clearly is flawed and hasn't armed their staff members with the tools necessary to focus on the guests and the experience of their guests. Which is the whole point of being in the hospitality business. We asked if they had water bottles for purchase....nope. Even the most basic of hotels/motels has water to purchase, especially in a beach town. There is no store within decent walking distance so come prepared or hop in the car to drive down the road to a gas station. We asked for some extra hangers when we checked in, 5 each, too which we were told "I'm not sure we have that", but they must have scrummaged some up somewhere. There are really no amenities other than your room. We also noticed that their weekend rate more than doubled to over $300/night, it may have been as a result of the memorial holiday I am sure- but I still have never seen a rate jump that much for so little. This hotel is absolutely not worth $300+ a night. I strongly encourage you to stay else where or an Air Bnb. read more

We were up in the Newport area this past Labor Day weekend for a friend's wedding. We decided to book at the Bristol Harbor Inn based on the amazing photos on their website. We were not disappointed. The staff was helpful and courteous and the rooms were adorable. The bed was super comfortable and the decor was perfect for us. I did feel the room felt damp, but I think it was just the air conditioning and it didn't ruin our stay. We loved staying in Bristol even though it was further from the wedding. WARNING DON'T STAY IN ROOM 205!! I have to say I'm very disappointed. We were in room 205 and we were woken up twice through the night because our room felt like it was shaking and there was a very loud motor noise that would last a couple of minutes, the first time I called the front desk and got no answer. In the morning we went up to the third floor thinking maybe there was construction going on and realized we were sleeping below a machine room and whatever machine was above us was very loud. When we checked out we mentioned it to the front desk clerk and she was well aware of the noise, that just made us more upset. Last weekend I had a super duper pleasant stay at Bristol Harbor Inn with one of my associates. Let's get down to brass tacks: the best feature of this establishment is its location. It is situated in a quaint little corner of Rhode Island that puts guests walking distance from a handful of varied bars and eateries. Additionally, it is so close to the ocean that you might as well be on a yacht! How darling! Our room was neat and came equipped with a fireplace to keep us warm on a chilly autumn night. It also had an adorable portrait of a little girl above it (so precious!). I think in the busier tourist season the BHI might be out of my budget range, but for this colder time of year it was an excellent choice. read more

We paid $1250 per night for the suite room 400. I must say it was the worst experience ever with the hotel managements and their customer service. The basic problem is the shift manager should not be in this business and must immediately get fired. We were told our room will be ready by 1:00pm for our bridal gust to get ready for rehearsal. We were told we had free WiFi throughout the suite. The room was not ready until 4:00 pm, one hour after the check in time. The WiFi did not work on one side of the suite. Come on, you pay this much money and the service and availability to be so terrible. I do not recommend this place. Please use Airbnb instead of this Inn. read more

There are so many reasons why I would like to give this hotel a good review. It's in a great location. The property is new and well kept. The bed is great. There is a lovely gas fireplace in our room. However, two factors combined to make my stay a less than pleasant one. If you are not a light sleeper or if you are lucky to get a different room than the one I got, these issues may not be important to you. First, the windows do not have drapes adequate to block light from the bright street lights outside. There are decorative drapes, blinds, and a sheer curtain but nothing adequate to darken the room. Looking at the photographs on the hotel's web site, it appears that some rooms do have drapes that would darken the room. Second, and most importantly, our room faced Thames Street where the music from a nightclub awoke me from my sleep. The noise got worse later as the club closed and loud voices invaded the parking lot on the other side of the room. To give the hotel credit, at our request, they did move us to a room on the other side of the property. I am not really sure what the hotel can do about the problem with noise from the club. Perhaps the persons or company that operates said club has more political clout that the hotel operators. If I had gotten a room originally on the quiet side of the building, I am pretty confident that I would have written a review that gave the hotel a rating of "as good as it gets" but given my experience with the drapes and noise, I can't do so. I would like to make one last note about parking at the hotel which is odd compared to most hotels you might visit. When you arrive, there is a nice lot directly outside of the front desk but you can't use that lot for more than a couple hours, i.e. long enough to check in, take your bags to your room, and get settled in. After that, you have to move your car to a lot that is across and down the street a few hundred yards. On an evening with nice weather, this is not a big deal for most people but if you are disabled or find yourself at the hotel on a frigid evening, you may not be happy about the parking. My room had excellent wired internet via a jack next to the telephone but the wifi did not reach the room from the lobby. The front desk will give you a network cable if you do not have one, but if your device does not have a network jack, i.e. if you have ipad, you won't be able to use the Internet except in the lobby. Update: We were moved to a new room that was quiet and had drapes. They also refunded half the cost of our second night's stay so I am now a fan again but would never agree to a room facing the night clubs again. In case management is reading this, there were some small issues with our new room (225). The tub was discolored, a few floor tiles were cracked, and one of the drapes did not open and close properly. Also, the first room had a bulb out in the overhead lamp. This is something housekeeping should catch and report. read more

If you're looking for a decent place to crash in the cute town of Bristol, you've found it. Looking for anything else? Ehh, nice try. To say that this place needs an update would be an understatement. It feels like Bristol Harbor Inn has mastered the art of "good enough." The rooms, good enough, although a bathroom light is out, the floor tile is cracked, and the air conditioner is so loud, you wonder if something recently died in there. The "free" continental breakfast, good enough, if you don't mind picking at what's left of mushy fruit and receiving a bill for an omelet that no one specified was not part of the meal. The parking, good enough, if you're cool with walking a few blocks every time you come and go. The amenities? Wifi, of course, which is now standard everywhere. The front desk staff is warm and accommodating and the Inn's location is great. Bristol itself is a cute and lovely town, and totally walkable from this spot. It's the only game in town, anyway. First, the good: 1. The inn is perfectly placed in the middle of all things Bristol. You really can't beat the location if you're staying in the area. It's right on the water (which has it's negatives in terms of the the wind), which can be peaceful. There are plenty of opportunities to walk to the local shops and restaurants also. 2. The service was quite prompt and polite. From the front desk people to the housekeeping - everyone was quite nice and responded to any concerns quickly. And then why I docked it: 1. For light sleepers, this place will be a nightmare. The windows are quite thin and let in quite a bit of outside noise. Worse however is that the doors don't have a rubber seal at bottom like some of the modern hotels, so there is a wide gap between the door and the floor which means every sound in the hallway comes right into your door. Get a light night crew coming back from the bars, and they'll easily wake you up. This gap also lets in a ton of light from the hallway and I had to roll up a blanket just to block the light. 2. No wifi in the rooms. There is an ethernet cable for those of you with that capacity, but for my money, I expect to get wifi in the room. There is wifi in the lobby along with a computer attached to a printer for guest use. But come on, it's common place these days mostly everywhere and the management really should get with it. This was easily worth a negative star. 3. The bed was hard and the pillows mushy. This is a personal preference thing, and maybe you'll love it, but it just didn't work for me. And that's really it. The Bristol Harbor Inn has quite a few different kinds of rooms that you can choose from. The two taverns nearby have good food too. read more

Do not expect service at this hotel. The "manager", if you ever get to speak with her (took me four attempts), is completely unapologetic for errors made by her staff. Additionally, her rude and entitled attitude assures that we will never recommend this hotel again. Watch out BHH, there are a ton of airbnb places in Bristol which will give you a run for your money. You no longer are the only game in town. I suggest you train your "management" in hospitality. That is after all what they should be, hospitable, and grateful to have rooms filled. read more

I recently stayed at the Bristol Harbor Inn for a wedding. The hotel was kind enough to accommodate us with early check-in. We booked the penthouse suite which is advertised as "The third-floor suite features two bedrooms, each with a plush king-sized bed, and a living area furnished with a dining table, two sleeper sofas, and leather chairs." This was going to be perfect so that a family of 6 (5 adults and 1 baby) would have enough room and privacy. Upon arrival it became clear that this was not the case. One of the "bedrooms" was actually a king sized bed in the living room (with sleeper sofa). There was no privacy and no common space for everyone to hangout now unless we went to the porch. I was very disappointed especially since it was over $400 a night in the summer months. Not as advertised and made for a stressful time trying to determine what to do. read more

We had a great stay, stayed during New Years Eve. very quiet and perfect for what we wanted. Our room had a fireplace which made it so much better than a regular room. We were in walking distance to restaurants and bike path, so we didn't have to do much driving. Decor in hotel is updated, makes you feel at home. We will definitely stay here again. read more
