This place is absolutely amazing. The staff are wonderful. So helpful and hardworking. The grounds around the Inn are nicely manicured is beautiful, even though it is near a highway, the landscaping hides most of it. AlI still could hear the birds singing away their little birdie songs. The room was clean and well taken care of the room was absolutely clean. They were no cobwebs in the bathroom or in the corners of the room. The room came equipped with all the amenities and microwave a fridge, air conditioning, a nice flatscreen TV, and a safe. The room did need some minor up keeping for instance, the lock on the sliding door, a pin needed to be fixed. Their cable was not working properly and we couldn't get all the channels and the remote only helped you change the channels, and raise or lower the volume. There was no channel guides and not all the channels were coming in. Over all the facilities were great and if I ever need to come to New England again I will check the availability of Inn. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! WHY? READ BELOW!!! We (family of 5 all adults) started off in room 134 in the Executive Building which is a non-smoking room. When we walked in, we were met with an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. The wall paper was falling off the wall & there was a giant hole in the glass that was "fixed" with duct tape. Sketchy. We immediately called the front desk & they moved us to another non smoking room that smelled clean. The staff was helpful & punctual in fixing the problem. We then stayed in room 140 with a roll away bed & 2 double beds. Upon first impression it looked like this place had not been updated in YEARS! There was a silver box where people could place used razors in which was very sketchy, our beds did not have a comforter just a sheet, the mini fridge was wobbley because it only has 3 legs, there were hardly any outlet ports in the room (only 3), & there was a giant crack in the window that was "fixed" using plexiglass over it, & we had a beautiful view of the parking lot to make sure our car didn't get stolen. I did go to the front desk to get 2 comforters so the double beds had more than just a sheet layer. The roll away came with a pillow, sheet, & comforter already made. The only updated item in the room was the mini shampoo, conditioner, & body lotion & the air conditioner unit. THIS PLACE IS VERY DECEIVING!!! The pictures of the hotel are of the updated building & updated rooms. They NEED to do a MAJOR update on the Executive Building in the back where we stayed. The staff is friendly but this hotel is a pig with lots of lipstick. I appreciate the updated carpet and paint but that's where it ends for this place. While the room was spacious, the refrigerator made a noise all night, the balcony lights never go off and there are huge gaps in the curtains so the room is always bright. Pluses were a HOT shower and as another reviewer noted, no bed bugs. It was a legitimate concern given the comforter had stains and the mattress is definitely from the 80s. It'd take a lot to restore this place to glory but the location gives it potential. You can tell they are trying. read more

I cannot believe I paid $185 for one night at this place. I'll start by saying people live here, like LIVE here live here. While we saw families, most tenants looked shady. We actually considered leaving upon check-in because we worried our room or car would be broken into, but opted to stay because this was literally the only hotel we could find with availability within 1.5 hours of our next destination. (NOTE: I live in Philadelphia and am well familiar with inner city crime and "the hustle," just to provide some context. I'm not some suburbanite who feels unsettled easily.) We were in town for my daughter's graduation from Brown University and this is the closest we could get to Providence for under $1000 per night. Booking.com rated this place 4 and had nice pictures. What a joke! But the joke was on us. As soon as we walked into the lobby, we knew it was a sham. I didn't get pictures of the lobby furniture but it looked like they picked up some sofas from the curb in front of a frat house. The hall going to the room smelled like my Grandma's old storage shed. I shot a video to show just how big of a dump this place is but Yelp doesn't support video so I screenshot parts of it so you could have some idea. Please, please, please don't waste your money here! If not for it being graduation weekend, we would have definitely found another hotel. Unfortunately EVERYTHING else was booked up. The graduation was great though. Website shows two choices of rooms with balconies that allow dogs. When we got here we were told that there are no balconies in the pet friendly rooms. Stayed in the Executive Building. The room was very hot and I had to call the front desk to turn the AC on. The person came to the room and was down on her knees trying to find the reset switch- something had triggered it. The mini fridge almost fell onto the floor because it only has 3 legs. Wall paper was torn and holes were in the walls, no outlets near the bed to charge your phone. I had purchased a new charger and block that didn't work when I plugged it in but worked just fine in my car and at home. The shower faucet was stuck and when I finally got it to work I couldn't shut it off- the bathroom looked like a steam room. What was super creepy was 2 peep holes in the door- one at standard height and the other at kneeling height- very sketchy. I usually don't leave reviews but there was unfortunately a lot of issues with our stay. We stayed in the executive suite, we had a very bad experience. Staff hung out by the door arguing about work issues. Came back after a movie and found boy underwear under the bed that was not anyone of ours. Rooms felt dirty and very outdated. It's a very beautiful area and the view was great. Service from staff was just weird and we felt unsafe in our room. Also lots of noises during late hours (we stayed mon-wed) so there were not many people staying and there seemed to be the workers just lurking around during 11pm-3am (my partner stayed up and watched). It was just very odd, many of the things in the room were broken and outdated, definitely needs to be checked out. This sh*thole deserves NO stars. I wouldn't let my dog sleep here. My husband booked me a room with a jacuzzi for my first Mother's Day. As soon as we walked in the room, the first thing we noticed was the smashed walls, peeling wallpaper, and soda on the ceiling. Then we noticed Nip bottles under the shades, and our tv was so fuzzy. We called up to have our TV fixed, they called back two hours after. We checked in today at like 4ish, we left by 7ish. They offered us another room, all set. $150.00 gone. Carpet on hallway stairs don't appear to have been vaccumed in recent memory, room was dusty. Hung clothes in hangar rack which partially detached from wall when 2 shits and 3 pairs of jeans were hung. None of the exercise equipment worked, and all were physically broken or show extensive wear. Electrical socket by bed table was dead. No breakfast which is offered by other local hotels (unfortunately booked for this trip). Stay here as a last resort. read more

We arrive and I choose to pay at Hotel but by the time arrive my Credit card was already charged and besides that they did charge me $100 deposit that nobody notify me; we check-in and got to the room and unpack my suitcase and was ready to put my folding clothes into the drawers but all the drawers were full of curtains and pieces of oranges. I did call the front desk and went there and ask to talk to the manager which it was so RUDE to me and my Wife. At that point, I ask for my money back and he said pack your stuff and leave. We will never go back to this place. New Owners who believe Customers we something to them. So do your self a favor and keep looking. Where to start with this place....first thing you notice is the strong smell of old cigarette smoke, most likely stuck in the old carpets. Next just from a quick inspection of the room, found some kind of sticky substance that was on one of the headboards that looked like it dried while it dripped down the headboard. Also the same thing on the front draw of the wooden desk. Next was the bedding....stains on the sheets and 50% of the pillowcases. One of the comforters after removing them and looking at the bottom side had a cigarette burn and an area an inch in size that looked like a chocolate or poop stain. After going to the check in desk and asking for new bedding sheets and pillowcases, we notice that when we removed one of the stained pillowcases that there was a stain that covered more than half of one side of the pillow that looked like a mold stain/some kind of stain. When I went to the desk to ask for new bedding one of the employees came with me to look at the issues. One of the bed sheets had some kind of a clear stain the size of 4 inches by 4 inches and it looked wet. I wasn't going to touch it, but he did and said that it was dry. He said that is was from detergent when they were cleaned....regardless of what it was, you can't put sheets on a bed with any kind of stains....buy some new ones. I didn't look under the bed....didn't want to. Tried to go out on the deck, barely touched the handle for the screen door and it fell off of the track. Something that I considered minor was the bathroom door was damaged at the top corner and made it hard to open/close the door....with everything that I mentioned previously, the door was the least of my concerns. Comments similar to mine have been going on for years and it doesn't seem management/ownership cares. I would hate to ruin anyone's livelihood but in my opinion this place should be shut down. I can't imagine how many sanitary violations this place would get if inspected. I booked based on the pictures online, which looked nice....but that must have been a room/rooms that were properly taken care of purposely for the pictures. Please read the reviews of the place and do not book a room solely based on the pictures. I can only imagine that the vast majority of the rooms are in a similar condition to what I have described in my comment. So far from walking in and out of the building today I have heard two other guests complaining to management about cleanliness issues. Please do not stay here, you will be severely disappointed. When you fist walk into the lobby, your hit with the smell of cigarette smoke and on top of that no ac. The employee's were rude and didn't care about what my family and I had to say. The room we stayed in was extremely outdated and unsanitary (even though they display a "newly renovated rooms" sign out front). There was stains on the curtains, the bathroom door didn't fit the door frame...therefore it didn't close, and regardless of the "non-smoking room" it smelled of cigarettes and a lingering smell of marijuana, the toilet seat wasn't fully attached to the bowl, and overall seemed unsafe. The sheets and comforter were disgusting. We had to go buy a new sheet and comforter set, along with room spray. Sadly we booked the hotel without reading reviews and booked based on websites pictures. The prices do not match what you're a receiving for your room. This place is not worth a penny of your money. I have never written a Yelp review prior to this. My boyfriend and I are avid travelers & hotel goers. We are used to all kinds of places and really aren't picky so long as we have a good bed to sleep on & a safe place to stay. We were trying to find a place In/ near Newport but everything was completely sold out or priced outrageous so we decided on River inn and suites, a 30 min drive to Newport, still about 500 for 2 nights. However, This hotel was among the worst we have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived there were police/ ambulance outside picking up an intoxicated women. Numerous drug deals going on out in back & actually saw someone soliciting a prostitute as we were walking into the hotel. I'm already aware Somerset is not the best area but the condition & cleanliness of the hotel was unlike anything we'd ever seen. The carpets in the hallway looked as if they'd never been vacuumed or cleaned. We actually went out and purchased our own blankets and pillow cases as there's were stained and ripped so badly that we felt uncomfortable sleeping in them. Also, There is bed bugs as pictured below which is something neither of us have ever experienced and was actually quite horrifying. Please be very careful prior to booking at this hotel. Me and my friend came here yesterday. It was alright. The swimming pool was amazing, it was clean. The bad part is that there was like 5-8 people in the pool, and training was happening without any warning. People were screaming in the pool. The hallway is a long way to walk down to the pool, and fitness room. Me and my friend got 2$ for snacks. Her chips got stuck inside of the vending machine so we had to go all the way to the front desk. It is such a small hallway, it is dangerous. With the hallway being that tiny, people could easily snatch you into their bedroom. The fitness room is tiny and the equipment does not work. It is freezing in the fitness room. There was a sketchy man that winked at my friend. It took several minutes to get into the pool, it was confusing. The door was locked and 2 people tried to open it. We stood there and so did others. It was a bit of a struggle to get it. In the bathroom there is only 1 stall. I was trying to use the bathroom, but it didn't lock. I tried opening it with it locked, and it opened. There was no mirror over the sink, which was not a problem but it's a bit weird. The shower does not have a door, it only has a curtain. It was a bit short. People could look under or over. Or easily just slide it. There is no protection in the shower. If you come to this place, I recommend only coming for the pool. read more

Room 143. Disgusting. The room hasn't been deep cleaned in a very, very, VERY long time. It did not "smell" as though it had been cleaned upon arrival. We booked a room with a jetted tub and river view. I didn't even want to shower in this tub, let alone soak in it. The bottom was black (attached photo doesn't do it justice). The tub's outter frame looked like it had lots of mold and was coming apart. Lots of water damage over the sink. Caked on dirt and dust on the water sprinklers and the ac unit. Slider door very hard, heavy to push open, kept stopping up. There was hair on the toilet and in the sheets, including what looked like pubic hair. You could hear the neighbors shower running. No warm water in sink. The room door wasn't flush with the doorframe, so there is a giant gap, causing you too see people's shadows as they walked by, increased noise level. Room 143 is close by the main entrance to the building, so anytime the main door was opened or closed, it caused our door to shake. I've attached numerous photos of the rooms condition. We walked around in our sandals, I didn't dare go barefoot. There was also a big dark red or brown sticky splatter on the wall. The back patio had a single, dirty, old, weathered, clothed chair. The units below us had likes of broken tile and fast food wrappers in the grass. The view straight across was pretty. Roadway on either side. We did not use the pool, it was very crowded and looked cloudy. Signs posted out front state HBO, that was NOT included. TV was fuzzy. The remote was caked in crud. Mini coffee maker without any coffee bags or pods. We were only away for one night, not worth the $181 price tag plus $100 security deposit. We were told it was sold out, we wanted to enjoy our one single evening away from home as much as possible and had plans to go out so we tried to make the best of it. Photos of the rooms online did not align with reality. Front desk gentlemen at check in was overwhelmed, he could have used a hand at 3pm. He was very friendly though. Long wait and line to check in. I would not stay again. It's a shame, this was our first night away alone together in nearly 11 years. We have 4 kiddos so this weekend away was a such a BIG deal for us. We wanted to stay elsewhere but even booking 4 weeks in advance, the options were slim. Booking. com needs to update their information, it is incredibly deceitful. Save your money. Bed bugs and no accountability. I travel a lot for work and leisure (biking, hiking), and I've stayed in many places globally and in the US. Some are great, some are good, some are so-so. But this place is by far the worst experience I've had. We stayed 2 nights over Labor Day weekend in 2021. The place was not cheap, ended up over $200 per night, which is too much for a room off highway with loose wires, stale smell of smoking, unpainted patches on walls, noise from other rooms and from the yard. But the worst was the realization that what we thought to be a bad case of mosquito bites turned out to be bed bugs. I've never had bed bugs bites before and only diagnosed these upon return home. Since we stayed 2 nights and kept our things in the room, the risk of bringing bugs to our car and apartment was high. We had to get rid of belongings and hire bug treatment service, notify building and cause commotion to neighbors who had to go through the stress of inspection. I contacted the hotel to notify them of the problem in the room and request to at least reimburse us for the room charges considering the hassle and extra cost caused to us. After several emails, I have not yet received any response or at least an apology from the management. This is shameful to say the least. read more

Yet, information booklet and other things around the hotel are still baring the Quality Inn name. Hallways smelled of smoke, urine, among other things. Room smelled like smoke despite being smoke-free. Free breakfast was mediocre and that's being generous. Despite all that, it's next to a bar with cheap drinks and across the street from a liquor store. The hotel staff was always friendly and very accommodating. Pool looked halfway decent. Linens were clean. In all, it served its purpose for a place to crash after a wedding and it didn't hurt the wallet too much. read more

I checked in and found the carpet in need of vacuuming. I looked at the couch and saw that it was stained. I went to call the front desk, picked up the receiver and there wasn't a cord attached to the phone. I walked down to the front desk and the lady said "housekeeping was gone for the day" (3:15pm). I said I wanted a clean room. She then went to the back room, came out with a vacuum cleaner and handed it to me with the admonition, "return it here to the front desk when you are finished vacuuming!!" I told her that as a paying guest I should not have to do any vacuuming and said that she should do it if, no one else was around. She said "I'm not in housekeeping!" I said neither am I. I immediately checked out while she was threatening to charge me for the room anyway! I left and went to the Hampton Inn that was clean, comfortable and I didn't have to vacuum! read more

I walk in the lady at the front desk is taking a nap I told her I just booked a room and she says that she could not find it even after I showed her the confirmation number on my phone! She then asked for my credit card and swiped it multiple times and then tells me I have no funds on it and ask me if I have money on it ? I never felt so disrespected in my life! After about a hour of going back and forth she tells me my room is all set, I go to enter my room and I hear screaming down the hall way here she comes running saying your card has no funds ? How did you just book me a room say it's all set then tell me I have no funds? Last year we stayed and the rooms were deplorable.. we were told they were in the process of renovating. So this year I called to check on the renovation process and was told they couldn't promise me a update room! Even tho I called ahead and he was rude about it! Front desk agents were very customer service oriented. The hotel was just aquired by new ownership and they aren't sparing any costs with the a complete renovation. I peeked in one of the rooms,being renovated and I must say its modern, sleek and stylish ill be back here to stay in one of these rooms for sure. Overall experience was great read more
