Castle Hill Inn is GORGEOUS! The hotel is also beautiful, and the help from the valet and the hotel staff was amazing. The restaurant itself was good, not great. I got the classic blueberry cocktail that I had been hearing about: it was refreshing but nothing special. We got a salad to split, which had some delicious marinated beets. The favorite part of the meal was actually the roasted corn. It had a little kick to it which was delicious. The fish tacos and burger were pretty good, nothing too special write home about. The service was great the entire time. However, there were DOZENS of bees. It was super difficult to enjoy lunch with them constantly swarming food and drink. Honestly, it kinda ruined the experience. I hope they find a way to control that.

A few years later.. still a wonderful experience. Came on a week day afternoon and sat on the deck overlooking the water. Delicious cocktail menu!!! We split the calamari and a creamy salmon or crab dip with home-made potato chips. The perfect summer light lunch!

Blueberry lemonade (not good at all) and red sky at night (decent but incorrectly garnished). Do not recommend.

For such a picturesque venue, we had higher expectations on quality control. The drinks tasted like watered-down juice, but that could be easily overlooked if not for the rude bartender. I ordered 2 drinks at the bar and before I could touch them, the garnish on one fell off. I politely asked for another garnish and the bartender proceeded to pick up the lemon that was on the table, and placed it into my drink. I asked for a new drink as that wasn't hygienic. He left me waiting while making other drinks then remade my drink hastily and without care and stated "no garnish". I politely said I'd like the garnish it's supposed to come with (need it for the pics!) and he gave me a wedge instead of a slice. I left a 20 percent tip but we will not return. 2 stars at the location is beautiful.

Such a beautiful inn to visit! We went to Newport for a bachelorette and was the perfect spot to end our trip. We rented the blue chairs ($25/person) which if you have a large group I recommend but if there are only a few of you - you can try snagging one of the white chairs. Had a drink on the water and it was so fun watching the sailboats sail by.

Our favorite place in Newport! We love coming here for lunch or sunset and dinner. This trip we stopped by for lunch and were seated in the front room on a beautiful day! It was restaurant week, but we chose the regular menu items today. Grilled cheese with butternut squash soup was good. We all prefer a sweeter profile for soup like apple/ginger/cardamom type flavors vs spicy with cumin... Chicken salad with fries was solid. My salad with lobster salad was absolutely delicious! Desserts were very good. Nice selection with different flavors. Service was very friendly, although a bit slow today! Just a great place to walk around or sit out and have a drink during the warmer months! Love it here!

Beautiful place. Unfortunately it was early spring during a downpour. This spot exudes class. What a view!! Burger was a burger.

We went to the Lawn Terrace - Bar at this hotel. Great view. Service was amazing and the ambiance great. We had wine and martinis. A great place to stop in for a drink while in Newport!

Highlights 1. Friendly Service 2. Epic Views 3. Good Food Stopped in for the first time today while visiting from out of town and loved it! You must valet your car upon arrival. The actually hotel is very cool, historic and feels elegant. I did not have a reservation, but I was able to grab one of the last spots at the Terrace Bar. The bar is open air and an awesome place to grab food. My server got me a menu immediately and I ordered a glass of white wine and a lobster roll on gluten-free bread. My food came out quickly and it was good! You are definitely paying a premium for the views and I wouldn't say this place is exactly budget friendly. After lunch I ordered one more glass of wine and enjoyed it on "the lawn" which had tons of Adirondack chairs facing the ocean. This is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon!

After dinner treats at the end. Nice way to finish the dinner.

If you want to feel special come to Castle Hill Inn. This is our 8th year coming to this gem and now it just feels like home when we step in... I might have protested a little bit after the price bump but I couldn't stay away for too long. Walking into the restaurant I felt so welcomed. Carl was our server tonight and he was on his A game as always. He really knows the menu inside and out. I'm pretty sure he practices on the delivery of the menu at home. He's a man that takes his job seriously. He has worked at Castle Hill Inn for 2 decades! If you get Carl consider yourself lucky. We ordered from the 6 course menu. It changes quite frequently but some of the perennial favorites are always there. The oysters are served three ways. My favorite was the one with the marmalade. The salty briny taste of the oysters paired really well with the sweet marmalade. Always excited to taste something new! The fois gras is super buttery. Admittedly I don't eat fois gras too often but it's really excellent. Monk fish was very fresh and the dwenjang sauce was surprisingly spicy. Admittedly my 4th course was a little bit of a disappointment. Carl described the Pennsylvania Hen dish so vividly I had to try it. Even though I'm really a strict beef guy. I have a rule about never ordering chicken or salmon at a restaurant unless it's fried chicken or raw salmon. It was definitely presented exotically but the flavors fell a little flat for me. Chicken people will love it. But those beef lovers out there stick with the beef. BTW my kid absolutely loved her beef dish. American Wagyu cooked perfectly medium rare. She savored every bite. My wife looked at her and told her to make sure she marries a rich guy to support her beef habit lol. For the 5th course I had the chocolate dish which was great. And to be honest I can't remember what I had for the 6th course. Food is always great here but for me the service is what makes everything stand out. Carl and Harrison, along with the rest of the wait staff made our night very special. The timing of the dishes were spot on and our glasses were never empty. All 4 of us had a great time and we always look forward to our next visit to this magical restaurant.

This was a perfect stop for viewing the sunset and having a few cocktails, yes its expensive. But ii was worth the stop and views alone. There was a wedding the day we visited, so it was very busy. Parking was easy and free down the hill. This place is absolutely beautiful, from the outside and inside. I would def go back and visit on a less busy day. Dont forget to visit the lighthouse, the walk isnt far from the parking lot. Next time I will make reservations to stay and eat, I will most definitely come back and update my review. BTW~ if you have never been on a road trip to Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, Boston its a must. We did a week long amazing trip with alot of stops!

Exceptional place with beautiful views and tons of seating on a massive lawn overlooking the bay. The drinks were great, however we didnt try the food. Totally worth it for the drinks & view though!

Food was fantastic, lots of flavors and was very sophisticated Our waitress was very nice and polite and did anything he could to make us feel comfortable. The restaurant looks fantastic and the sunset was beautiful and so priceless! Highly recommend.

Based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and how beautiful the property looked online, we were genuinely excited to spend a couple of nights here. Unfortunately, for nearly $1,000 per night, the experience fell well short of expectations. At check-in, the concierge seemed completely uninterested. There was no welcome, no overview of the hotel, and no helpful information offered- it genuinely felt like we were inconveniencing her just by being there. We've stayed at other hotels in a similar price range, where the service is consistently warm, attentive, and polished, so this was especially disappointing. The valet was far more welcoming and professional than the front desk. After a short walk around town, we returned to the hotel and weren't acknowledged at all, the concierge kept her head down on her phone. I can appreciate a no-fuss stay where guests aren't overbothered, but for the price point and the fact that this was a special anniversary trip, being completely ignored wasn't what we expected. A simple greeting or acknowledgment would have gone a long way. The hotel itself is very pretty. The furnishings are lovely, and the room was nice and comfortable. The views were nothing particularly special; it appears the ocean-facing side is reserved for a conference space. Still, we did enjoy the room. Like many Newport hotels, valet parking is the only option and comes with a daily fee. The valet team was excellent- friendly, accommodating, and consistent throughout our stay. The restaurant deserves special mention: the staff was outstanding, and the food was excellent. Truly a five-star experience there- would def go back to dine with them. The location is also a positive, close enough to everything without being directly on the busy street. However, overall, we wouldn't choose to stay here again at this price point. Upon checkout, we noticed a charming bar/library space that we didn't even realize was available to guests as no one mentioned it to us during check-in. A beautiful hotel is wonderful, but to be considered luxury, the service needs to match the setting. Unfortunately, that piece was missing for us. If we wanted an experience that anyone could offer, we could have gone anywhere else, for much less.

It's a great spot for a drink especially in the summer time. Our recent visit on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, was not great. Despite it being a warm summer evening around 8 PM on a Wednesday, we were turned away because one person in our party wore a t-shirt instead of a collared shirt. For a midweek outing in August, that felt unnecessarily rigid and to be honest a little too pretentious. Although we can understand enforcing dress codes on weekend nights this seemed out of touch. We ended up at Thames Street Kitchen and Audette instead, both of which did not have strict dress codes. The Studio Bar at the Gardiner House still makes great cocktails, but the hospitality needs to match.

We parked in the front and unloaded the cars easily. We did not use valet, the Marriott lot was $48 a night. Walking to the lot next door took about 2 minutes. The lobby is spacious, clean and very pretty. There's a water machine with flavored waters. Front desk staff are very professional and friendly. Valet guys are all nice and open the doors for you 98% of the time. With the daily destination fee, you also get 2 free tickets per room to the sailing museum or a vineyard 15 mins away (Sailing museum is free on Wednesdays). Had I known the museum was free Wednesdays, I would have chose the vineyard tickets instead. You also get $20 per room to use at the bar/restaurants as well as 2 bikes to rent. We checked into connecting balcony rooms. The rooms were clean but the balcony doors were hard to open. You have to pull it back really hard before unlocking it. The beds were comfortable. There are no microwaves but I called in to request one for the room. The first night I went to skiff bar to order some food and use our 2 $20 food credits. I ordered oysters and coconut shrimp. The oyster appetizer was terrible... the oysters flesh was tiny, totally not worth it. The next morning we had the hotel buffet for $32 a head. Omelet station was good. Standard breakfast items, view was good. We really only ate there for the view. Our waitress was barely around. Hotel is at a great location. Very close to the wharf and also right across from a small aquarium. The balcony was a nice place to chill, overall the hotel wasn't crowded. It's also very safe because you need to swipe a keycard to get to the hotel rooms. Best part of staying here was a pool table in the skiff bar. While waiting for my food, I just played two games by myself. I usually stay at Hiltons but I chose this Marriott because of the location and views. Glad I made this decision. I would definitely pick this hotel again should I decide to visit Rhode Island again!

The facility and the rooms are sparkling clean, and don't even get me started about the decor! It is to die for - quirky, fun, and super Instagram-friendly. My favorite nod to their namesake was an adorable Do Not Disturb sign that hung on the guestroom door reading "Shh.. We're Nesting." It honestly took all my willpower not to steal it! Ahem. We had a great experience with Peter, the Attwater's Front Desk Manager. Not only did he call us prior to check in to see if he could assist with anything we would need, he also upgraded us from the small Queen room that we had booked to the spacious Lark Suite, their largest accommodation. The suite had a gas fireplace, soaking tub, and gorgeous seating area with a dining table and several cozy couches and armchairs. We were super grateful for his hospitality, and even when we had a minor issue with the heating system in the room not lowering, Peter assisted us in the morning and generously offered vouchers for a future night stay. Thank you for your attention to detail and hospitality! I also LOVED the fact that the Attwater offers hot items in their included breakfast. We stay at a lot of small bed and breakfasts as stay and vacations, and one can only have so many cranberry muffins or glazed croissants. They did offer morning pastry standbys, but I was delighted to find a warm and delicious Cheddar Hash Brown Egg Bake and Shredded Brussels Slaw with Hard Boiled Eggs among the offerings. It really took the stay to the next level, and as a couple that stays at several B&Bs and small hotels, it did not go unnoticed! We can't wait for our next chance to visit :)

If you are not one of the lucky three that gets a spot in the side lot you have to park in the garage and the garage is tight. Tight tight, tighter than tight, as tight as you can get. Put it this way, it took me about 15 minutes to safely pull into a space in absolute fear I was going to hit a pole or the car parked next to me. When it was time to pull out, torture, luckily someone who worked here saw me struggling and he offered to get in and do it for me. Even for him, it took multiple attempts to steer clear of any objects. It's a real pain in the ass I can't sugar coat it. Next negative, the toilet in my room wouldn't flush. That was frustrating and when I told the front desk attendant she wasn't' surprised so this must be a thing. Also, whenever I walked into my bedroom I got a wet sock, there was a leak of some sort I think it may have been coming from the air conditioner unit up above but I can't be too sure. Next negative, the outlets are crappy, anything I plugged in was super loose I really had to jam it in there and that was the case with every outlet, some were unusable because of how loose they were. Lastly, the shower was scalding hot, scalding. I adjusted the temperature but no matter which way I turned it was different levels of scalding. I had to let the shower run for five minutes before I could get in there and I like a hot shower. This temperature was hospital burn status. Okay the real last thing, no elevator. I had to lug up two flights of stairs with my big ass suitcase but is it Mill Street Inn's fault that I packed a weeks worth of stuff for one night or is that a me problem? As I'm mentioning all these negatives I'm wondering if 4 stars is appropriate but I'm sticking with it and I'll tell you why. The room was beautiful and enormous. I stayed in a suite with a dining room table and chairs, a couch, coffee table, multiple arm chairs, huge bed with the most comfortable pillows I have ever experienced in my entire life. Dreamy I tell you, like melting in but not too much, just perfect. The bathroom vanity counter was enormous. I had so much room to put out all of my things, much appreciated. The location could not have been better. One block away from the main street, the easiest walk to everywhere. Also tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood so it was safe, cozy and quiet. I walked back from a night out by myself and felt extremely safe doing so. The lobby is beautiful, they had complimentary sangria and complimentary water with lemons and limes. They had every board game you could imagine, I loved that. There was a fitness center with canned electrolyte infused waters, they had a beautiful roof top which I had entirely to myself both times I went up there. Gorgeous views of the neighborhood and the water. I loved my time up there it was serene and relaxing with tons of tables and chairs for lounging. They had complimentary breakfast served to your door in the morning. The night before you pick and choose what you want from each category and there was plenty to choose from. I ordered an organic cold brew, two hard boiled eggs, granola, and something else, anyways everything came to the door at the exact minute I asked for it to be delivered and it was delicious. Also, they give you a welcome bag with snacks when you arrive! There were pretzels, a massive bag of popcorn and sea salt caramels. I thought that was such a special touch. Anyways, looking back there were a lot of annoyances that could have aggravated me but there were so many good things about my stay that the good overshadowed the bad and I would 100% stay here again.
