If you are looking for peaceful place to sleep, void those rooms with street view specially on summer season , very noise all night long the night clubs all across from the st . No cap shower no iron . Plus $45 vallet and $100 dollars just for fees

Always a pleasure staying here! valet/checking in is always so simple, room is always bright and clean, and it's located literally steps from stores and restaurants! accessible with elevators and accessible rooms available! i also love how each month the hammetts shares things to do in newport, so you're always informed one events going on

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at hammetts hotel. This was mine and my boyfriends first time in Newport and this was a great introduction to the area. The hotel is gorgeously decorated and comfortable. The room was the perfect size for us and came with extra blankets and pillows and a safe. There was also a glass water bottle and glass cups that could be filled with water from their filtered water bottle stations. There was a small gym on the 3rd floor that had all of the essentials including free weights, a bench, treadmill, elliptical, bike and a weight machine with a bunch of rope/bar attachments. In front of the gym was a small seating area with a bunch of windows looking onto the water. The curtains in the bedroom were also SUPER blackout which was nice. The thermostat and TV were also very easy to use, as was the lighting situation. There is coffee and tea in the morning until 12, and we were able to get hot water and a tea bag at night to drink in the lobby upon request. I do wish that there was a vending machine or snack bar as the rooms didn't have any. Also, no fridge in the room made it hard to take back any left overs so we were forced to stuff our faces since we couldn't bring any food back . There is also a $30 charge for parking each night you stay, but you can come and go as much as you wish. I really enjoyed my stay here and if I were to every return, I would book here again! The lobby was gorgeous with plenty of tables to do work, and there were spacious private rooms towards the back to relax in. It's in a great location and the concierge were very kind and helpful.

My review is based on what you get for your money, and ultimately I think the cost is more than the benefit. The positives: Good location, bed is comfortable, very clean (all of these are very high value to me), and we left AirPods in the room and were able to get them back! The cons: the rooms are tiny, the water pressure is not good, and although they charge the same rates as the fancy hotels, they don't have the same service or amenities- there's no gym or pool, no refrigerator in the room (and no water provided; there are fountains in the common areas but the water from them isn't cold), and there's no food/restaurant/room service/breakfast. Last but not least, the parking is an additional $45 per night!

Gorgeous Hotel. Brand new hotel so as you can expect everything is brand new/rooms are brand new- the lobby is gorgeous, the design is very nautical & it is clean & very immaculate. However there aren't many "amenities" or luxuries. They said they had no restaurant- because it's been closed due to Covid. They have no pool or spa. No breakfast- but they do offer complimentary coffee until 10am! My only/major complaint would be the room sizes are extremely small, the bathroom does have a sliding door where the toilet and shower are- so there is a privacy barrier but the room that houses the toilet and glass shower are very small. The size of the shower is decent though so that's a plus. Everything is BRAND new. The ty was at least 65" (I think) so that was nice. However no microwave no refrigerator to keep drinks/snacks in. Parking was steep at $25 a night for hotel guests, but extremely convenient and would me a major plus during the summer and busy season. Although the view wasn't an "ocean view" room we still had a gorgeous view of the courtyard & we could see the ocean slightly. Huge large bay row windows with a seat that transforms into a day bed! It was a very picture perfect/clean room with a very comfortable bed! They did make the best out of the small space with tons of storage areas! Under the regular bed they had 2 draws. Under the day bed they had 2 draws and a little cubby hole which could fit more stuff. They had a small safe in the drawer under the bed with a tiny safe and the worlds tiniest Iron and gold out ironing board. Thankfully they had a small closet: as a lot of my clothes require hangers. Overall it was a very gorgeous hotel- and the rate at $74 for RI residents during winter is a great deal- but including parking it's basically $100- which is still NOTHING! However for 3 people- I felt cramped. I stayed here with my 5 year old there was nothing really for kids or geared toward kids but he really liked the view!

Queen bed! Cool little window seat as well!

This hotel is stunning, has really interesting design and decor. Our room overlooked the courtyard which was nice you could see the water a bit as well. The location is perfect to walk everywhere in downtown Newport. I also like the environmentally friendliness. Filtered water available in the hallway. Instead of plastic minis of shampoo they have large bottles mounted to the shower. The room we stayed in with a queen on the second floor was much smaller than a standard hotel room. My husband and I didn't mind but it's worth noting. Would definitely stay there again

The black-out blinds are the best EVER. I am a night owl and need my sleep. The blinds make it pitch black so no light sneaks in. The AC worked fine so we were cool the whole time. The night staff are outrageously kind, polite and friendly. Tracie and Carlos go way beyond to help with any needs. The location can't be beat. You are right in the center of it all. You CAN request a mini-fridge which I only found out about as we were leaving. Next time will ask in advance. Only negative aspects I could find were (1) parking costs $45 per day (2) the sound of slamming doors DID wake us repeatedly in the morning. When guests leave their rooms they are not mindful to close the door manually to keep it quiet (not everyone wakes at 7am!). So the doors close automatically and they are SUPER LOUD!. The Hotel should put padding or an air press to ensure a quiet closure. But no, they are extremely loud and irritating. That is the huge issue for me. Otherwise it was paradise. The hotel has no bar or restaurant or mini-fridge so make sure you plan one eating out for each and every meal. The Franklin Spa up the street is great for Breakfast to start your day. This will be my go-to hotel in Newport. Just wish the doors weren't so loud.

You won't find a hotel more centrally located than Hammetts. Only a year old, it fits in perfectly in the buzzing downtown and, if you didn't know any better, you'd think it has been there a lot longer. We picked Hammetts because it was one of the few Newport hotels to offer a suite and, for what you'll pay for it, it's a pretty spartan one. We'd heard the regular rooms were fairly tight, and the suite is basically two of them. While we didn't hurt for space, the rooms don't come with basic amenities like a mini fridge or even an ice bucket. The views were nice, and the blackout blinds are necessary to keep out the early morning light. The staff was friendly and accommodating. On site parking was $45 a night, a bit pricey but also the going rate in Newport. There are some nice amenities throughout the hotel. The lobby offered a pop up bar in the afternoons that also set up outside on the wharf when the weather was good. Free coffee in the lobby during the morning was a nice touch and the small gym on the third floor has what you'll need for a vacation workout. Hammetts is a good hotel in a great city. We'd consider returning when we come back again.

Based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and how beautiful the property looked online, we were genuinely excited to spend a couple of nights here. Unfortunately, for nearly $1,000 per night, the experience fell well short of expectations. At check-in, the concierge seemed completely uninterested. There was no welcome, no overview of the hotel, and no helpful information offered- it genuinely felt like we were inconveniencing her just by being there. We've stayed at other hotels in a similar price range, where the service is consistently warm, attentive, and polished, so this was especially disappointing. The valet was far more welcoming and professional than the front desk. After a short walk around town, we returned to the hotel and weren't acknowledged at all, the concierge kept her head down on her phone. I can appreciate a no-fuss stay where guests aren't overbothered, but for the price point and the fact that this was a special anniversary trip, being completely ignored wasn't what we expected. A simple greeting or acknowledgment would have gone a long way. The hotel itself is very pretty. The furnishings are lovely, and the room was nice and comfortable. The views were nothing particularly special; it appears the ocean-facing side is reserved for a conference space. Still, we did enjoy the room. Like many Newport hotels, valet parking is the only option and comes with a daily fee. The valet team was excellent- friendly, accommodating, and consistent throughout our stay. The restaurant deserves special mention: the staff was outstanding, and the food was excellent. Truly a five-star experience there- would def go back to dine with them. The location is also a positive, close enough to everything without being directly on the busy street. However, overall, we wouldn't choose to stay here again at this price point. Upon checkout, we noticed a charming bar/library space that we didn't even realize was available to guests as no one mentioned it to us during check-in. A beautiful hotel is wonderful, but to be considered luxury, the service needs to match the setting. Unfortunately, that piece was missing for us. If we wanted an experience that anyone could offer, we could have gone anywhere else, for much less.

It's a great spot for a drink especially in the summer time. Our recent visit on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, was not great. Despite it being a warm summer evening around 8 PM on a Wednesday, we were turned away because one person in our party wore a t-shirt instead of a collared shirt. For a midweek outing in August, that felt unnecessarily rigid and to be honest a little too pretentious. Although we can understand enforcing dress codes on weekend nights this seemed out of touch. We ended up at Thames Street Kitchen and Audette instead, both of which did not have strict dress codes. The Studio Bar at the Gardiner House still makes great cocktails, but the hospitality needs to match.

We parked in the front and unloaded the cars easily. We did not use valet, the Marriott lot was $48 a night. Walking to the lot next door took about 2 minutes. Valet guys are all nice and open the doors for you 98% of the time. With the daily destination fee, you also get 2 free tickets per room to the sailing museum or a vineyard 15 mins away (Sailing museum is free on Wednesdays). Had I known the museum was free Wednesdays, I would have chose the vineyard tickets instead. You also get $20 per room to use at the bar/restaurants as well as 2 bikes to rent. We checked into connecting balcony rooms. The rooms were clean but the balcony doors were hard to open. You have to pull it back really hard before unlocking it. The beds were comfortable. There are no microwaves but I called in to request one for the room. The first night I went to skiff bar to order some food and use our 2 $20 food credits. I ordered oysters and coconut shrimp. The oyster appetizer was terrible... the oysters flesh was tiny, totally not worth it. The next morning we had the hotel buffet for $32 a head. Omelet station was good. Standard breakfast items, view was good. We really only ate there for the view. Our waitress was barely around. Hotel is at a great location. Very close to the wharf and also right across from a small aquarium. The balcony was a nice place to chill, overall the hotel wasn't crowded. It's also very safe because you need to swipe a keycard to get to the hotel rooms. Best part of staying here was a pool table in the skiff bar. While waiting for my food, I just played two games by myself. I usually stay at Hiltons but I chose this Marriott because of the location and views. Glad I made this decision. I would definitely pick this hotel again should I decide to visit Rhode Island again!

They are owned by Lark Hotels, a small company, and the bird details are subtly present throughout. My favorite nod to their namesake was an adorable Do Not Disturb sign that hung on the guestroom door reading "Shh.. We're Nesting." It honestly took all my willpower not to steal it! Ahem. We had a great experience with Peter, the Attwater's Front Desk Manager. Not only did he call us prior to check in to see if he could assist with anything we would need, he also upgraded us from the small Queen room that we had booked to the spacious Lark Suite, their largest accommodation. The suite had a gas fireplace, soaking tub, and gorgeous seating area with a dining table and several cozy couches and armchairs. We were super grateful for his hospitality, and even when we had a minor issue with the heating system in the room not lowering, Peter assisted us in the morning and generously offered vouchers for a future night stay. Thank you for your attention to detail and hospitality! I also LOVED the fact that the Attwater offers hot items in their included breakfast. We stay at a lot of small bed and breakfasts as stay and vacations, and one can only have so many cranberry muffins or glazed croissants. They did offer morning pastry standbys, but I was delighted to find a warm and delicious Cheddar Hash Brown Egg Bake and Shredded Brussels Slaw with Hard Boiled Eggs among the offerings. If you are not one of the lucky three that gets a spot in the side lot you have to park in the garage and the garage is tight. Tight tight, tighter than tight, as tight as you can get. Put it this way, it took me about 15 minutes to safely pull into a space in absolute fear I was going to hit a pole or the car parked next to me. When it was time to pull out, torture, luckily someone who worked here saw me struggling and he offered to get in and do it for me. Even for him, it took multiple attempts to steer clear of any objects. It's a real pain in the ass I can't sugar coat it. Next negative, the toilet in my room wouldn't flush. That was frustrating and when I told the front desk attendant she wasn't' surprised so this must be a thing. Also, whenever I walked into my bedroom I got a wet sock, there was a leak of some sort I think it may have been coming from the air conditioner unit up above but I can't be too sure. Next negative, the outlets are crappy, anything I plugged in was super loose I really had to jam it in there and that was the case with every outlet, some were unusable because of how loose they were. Lastly, the shower was scalding hot, scalding. I adjusted the temperature but no matter which way I turned it was different levels of scalding. I had to let the shower run for five minutes before I could get in there and I like a hot shower. This temperature was hospital burn status. Okay the real last thing, no elevator. I had to lug up two flights of stairs with my big ass suitcase but is it Mill Street Inn's fault that I packed a weeks worth of stuff for one night or is that a me problem? As I'm mentioning all these negatives I'm wondering if 4 stars is appropriate but I'm sticking with it and I'll tell you why. The room was beautiful and enormous. I stayed in a suite with a dining room table and chairs, a couch, coffee table, multiple arm chairs, huge bed with the most comfortable pillows I have ever experienced in my entire life. Dreamy I tell you, like melting in but not too much, just perfect. The bathroom vanity counter was enormous. I had so much room to put out all of my things, much appreciated. The location could not have been better. One block away from the main street, the easiest walk to everywhere. Also tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood so it was safe, cozy and quiet. I walked back from a night out by myself and felt extremely safe doing so. The lobby is beautiful, they had complimentary sangria and complimentary water with lemons and limes. They had every board game you could imagine, I loved that. There was a fitness center with canned electrolyte infused waters, they had a beautiful roof top which I had entirely to myself both times I went up there. Gorgeous views of the neighborhood and the water. I loved my time up there it was serene and relaxing with tons of tables and chairs for lounging. They had complimentary breakfast served to your door in the morning. The night before you pick and choose what you want from each category and there was plenty to choose from. I ordered an organic cold brew, two hard boiled eggs, granola, and something else, anyways everything came to the door at the exact minute I asked for it to be delivered and it was delicious. Also, they give you a welcome bag with snacks when you arrive! There were pretzels, a massive bag of popcorn and sea salt caramels. I thought that was such a special touch. Anyways, looking back there were a lot of annoyances that could have aggravated me but there were so many good things about my stay that the good overshadowed the bad and I would 100% stay here again.
