What a wonderful and magical spot to stay while in the Newport area! Right near the mansions, off the cliff walk and peaceful and quiet. The turner suite was cozy and had an amazing view and tub. We visited for my birthday and the staff were all fantastic. Snacks at all times and a wine hour make for great extras. Will be back for sure!

I'm the type who NEVER takes a travel vacation. But after last year, I decided 2023 was going to be the year. After doing some research, I decided Cliffside Inn was going to be it. What a great decision! This place was perfect! All the rooms have a name and special details. I stayed in The Loft. Perfectly sized room. Not too big, not too small. The skylights were a particularly nice detail, especially over the large jacuzzi bath. Breakfast is small plate style. If you are craving a full breakfast. The Corner Cafe on Broadway is the perfect spot. Check in was easy, same with checkout. They have beach chairs for you to use and Easton's beach is walking distance away. 10-15 minute walk to the shops on Thames St. The Cliffside Inn was so relaxing and I really loved the room I had. There is also a fire pit and a nice wraparound porch to enjoy your coffee in the morning. I will definitely be returning in 2024.

A beautiful inn!

A beautiful combination of vintage style with modern amenities. There were so many "nice touches" at every turn. We had a room with a jacuzzi tub and fireplace which was wonderful. They did an excellent job combining new - clean and modern - with vintage furniture and decor. Some high points for us... relaxing in the cozy parlor area near a fireplace with soft music playing while reading about Beatrice Turner. Sitting by the fire pit in the front yard. Taking a hot bath in an oversized 2 person tub. Our room was very quiet. The impressive Cliff Walk is right down the street. Pricing was reasonable. Nice job! Highly recommended.

10/10 WOW. Service is fantastic, room is thoroughly clean and dressed to the 9's. We are critical critics and have stayed in some well curated boutiques and The Cliffside is superb. Great customer service and customer experience. The residence is steps from the cliff walk and the hotel will set you up with full beach gear! You can also rent bikes and tootle around the beautiful city. They have a beautiful breakfast spread and a great wine list. Highly recommend!!

Chessboard you can order during wine hour!

We stayed for 2 nights over New Years Eve and New Years Day and had the most amazing experience. The Cliffside Inn staff made sure to make New Years special even during covid-19. We ordered a cheese board during one of the happy hours and it was the best cheese board I've ever had. Worth every penny! Just want to say thank you again to the staff for their amazing hospitality. Best staff in the business. Also, stay in the Turner suite it was spectacular! Looking forward to our next stay at Cliffside!

Outdoor fire pit

My fiancé and I stayed at the Garden suite to celebrate what should have been our wedding but postponed due to covid. The room was amazing! Bed on main floor and a spiral staircase leading downstairs to a library nook, bathroom, hot tub and private outdoor patio. They had a fire pit going outside for guest to enjoy along with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and muffins. The staff was amazing, speedy and very accommodating. They were unable to do a traditional sit down breakfast because of restrictions but they had laid out several delicious breakfast options that guest could take and bring Back to their room. We enjoyed it sitting in the comfy chairs next to the window looking out at the ocean. A The location is excellent! Minutes away from the cliff walk and mansions. Close drive to downtown. We can not wait to come back here again!

Absolutely amazing. My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon, and were surprised our first night with champagne and rose petals in our room. First off, the breakfast and French press coffee is AMAZING. The wine and appetizers from 5-6 are also delicious. The food at this place is just incredible, and if that isn't enough, the cookies they leave in your room at night are SO GOOD. Everyone that works here is so friendly and they come in and tidy up your room daily. We never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, but this experience and been amazing and we will definitely be returning. Highly, highly recommend. The room itself was beautiful as well. And the beds were super comfy!

We have been to this Inn twice and will continue booking getaways here! Bill and Nancy have restored this inn to perfection! Everything is immaculate.....service, guest rooms, gourmet breakfast, wine and hors d'oeuvres. The rooms: We have stayed in the Garden Suite and the Tower Suite. Each room is very luxurious in it's own right! The Garden Suite has 2 gas fireplaces, one in the sleeping area and one in the bath area next to the large whirlpool bath. There is a spiral staircase that leads from the bedroom to the bath area. The floors in the bath area are heated. There is a warming rack for towels. The shower was outstanding. We were unable to enjoy the outdoor private garden area due to it being winter. The Tower Suite was also 2 levels with wonderful whirlpool tub on the bottom level and beautiful bay window on the second level. It was so nice sitting next to the fireplace on the bay window seat viewing the ocean waves rolling into the beach! This is a very bright room due to the beautiful windows in the turret. The Food French Press Coffee in the morning is tops! Breakfast was spectacular each morning. I have celiac disease. The chef was so accommodating. When all of the guests were being served banana foster pancakes.....so was I! They offered gluten free options during wine and hors d'oeuvre hour as well. Bill/Nancy and team know how to make you feel welcome! This Inn is spotless and if you book here you will be SPOT ON! We won't stay anywhere else in Newport! Now....what room shall we choose for next time! Decisions...Decisions!

'The Loft' room - very, very nice!

It was my first time staying in Newport RI and truly felt I had the experience of a local. Where do I start? Breakfast: Hearty and I received a choice of either a sweet or savory dish. Each dish was accompanied by bread, sausage and potatoes. Home cooked and served on adorable china. It was delicious and I didn't need to eat lunch at all. Rooms: Clean, comfy and nicely decorated. Knowledge of the area: Both Michael and Heather know all the best restaurants, things to do and history of Newport. The inn is historical and close to the mansions, shops and restaurants. There is a parking lot in the back. I had such a great time and would visit again!

That being said, this was a good place to stay in Newport, very centrally located, and really allowed us to walk to almost everything. Our room was good & we had a little porch/deck right outside the room, so we could sit outside when we got back in our own private little space. Breakfast was very good. Here's one little nugget that we learned from talking to the locals... they don't go to the harbor area, they stick either to Thames or the Broadway area. Did the Rough Point tour & the Cliff Walk... beautiful!

They had gluten and dairy free options at breakfast which was so helpful and also delicious! We asked her some recommendations and took her up on her suggestions in town and LOVED them. We've been to quite a few B&Bs and we loved the hospitality, cleanliness & location of this place!…read moreLoved that they allowed guests to store some leftovers in the fridge upstairs with a microwave to heat it up later. Always fresh water available with coffee, tea, hot chocolate & some biscotti. The ONLY issues we've had with this place was we did find some 2 small hair strands in the shower, but overall, the room was still clean. Showering did make us a LITTLE uncomfortable since there wasn't any curtain or covering on top of the window in the bathroom for privacy since we could see the upstairs window of the house next door, hopefully no one was in that house while we stayed since there was construction being done on that house during the day, so I'm assuming the house was currently unoccupied but even when we ONLY had the shower lights on to shower you could still see straight out the window right at that window next door, so if there was someone home they can definitely get "a show" from our shower. Haha. So I HOPE they put a curtain on top for peace of mind for the guests, once the house next door will be occupied. (See pic of bathroom window). Also sometimes guests don't drive & have to take a train in and pack light (we won't always fit umbrellas) so when it rains... if more than just 2 umbrellas could be available for the guests in case it rains, that would be great and that would show extra care. Actually have 2 umbrellas in each room, would be even better because we thought the 2 umbrellas outside the 1st floor room were the guests' umbrellas. Aside from those little things, we'd definitely visit again and stay here, the decent pricing also made us choose this place over the other choices, by the way!

Everything was neat as a pin, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The Jacuzzi was like getting a massage and being rocked to sleep at the same time. The included breakfast had the best cheese omelet that I have ever eaten. (Very fluffy!) This is one of the coziest, most comfortable, and most charming places that we have ever stayed, and we will certainly be back whenever we are in Newport next.

Very unimpressed and will NOT go back there…read more Cons: 1. The AC unit is our room was terrible. 1960 version type of AC and it blew all the cool air straight on to our bed in room 31 and didn't see any one to there to solve it. It made my wife sick and the type of moisture air that it was blowing out was humid type of air that didn't seem healthy. Plus it was super LOUD and would go off and on every minute. Made for an absolutely miserable experience and fortunately we were there just one night. 2. The room we had was on the third floor and the stairs were suuuuuper steep and dangerous. I am not an expert but it wouldn't surprise me if this is a violation of ADA requirements but I am not sure. 3. The tv was too small given the distance from the bed / sofa. 4. The breakfast was "ok". French toast was ok but terrible cheap syrup, and the bacon was one of the worst cheap bacon. Took one bite and said, yuck. 5. The cost for the value felt like it was super overpriced. Pros: 1. The person that checked us in was nice and the person servicing breakfast were nice.
