Hills and Dales Park is one of the prettiest things in the Dayton area. It's not incredibly large but it's bigger than most of the other parks. There's a few walking trails. It also has some interesting statues. Pretty fun to walk around when it's warmer. It has several access points, most of which are convenient. Main entrance is along Far Hills Avenue. The pond is the centerpiece of the park. It's located near the main entrance. This is off limits to fishing and swimming. It also has a waterfall, just man made but still beautiful. There's also miles of hiking trails in the woods. It overall is a nice public area. It's dog friendly so you see lots of people with dogs. There's shelters to sit and eat.

Nice park .. good place for picnic or to enjoy walking around. There is a lake and down the hill a manmade waterfall that is a pretty place to take photographs. The are some benches and a covered area to find shelter or eat unless already occupied. The park was quiet and peaceful .. natural beauty vs manicured gardens.

My friend and I decided to take a hike a crisp fall day at Hills and Dales. I'm still fairly new to the area and try to explore the different parks around. This one isn't too large but it is lovely with easily followed paths. There are some paved parts / paths for easy walking / strolling. I imagine this park hosts some weddings around the pretty pond with the small covered structure over the water. There are plenty of chairs, benches, and even a few swings located around the pond. Paw Paw camp is located at H&D. I'm pretty sure you can rent this facility. It is super cute and has grills and fireplace. I love the fact that the shelter roofs and boardwalk are made of 100 percent recycled materials! Very Cool! The park boasts a nice bathroom facility next to Paw Paw camp, and while I didn't use it this time, I was happy to see it wasn't a porta-potty but an actual bathroom. Hills and Dales is aptly named with some nice hills for hiking. I enjoyed coming across some statues and unique stone structures along the path like the stone tower, the Patterson memorial, and an old barn camp. Some of these structures just entice the imagination for spooky and fun stories! We enjoyed our hike and the beautiful fall colors. What a sweet little spot in the midst of an urban area.

A beautiful park in West Kettering. It dates back to 1907 and has been extensively renovated in the last 7 years. There are a couple of miles of wooded trails, a wonderful reflecting pond with nice benches and swings surrounding it, and a good playground on the west side of Patterson. This park was designed by the same firm that was responsible for NYC's Central Park. It's a real gem!

From 3 shelters you can rent, to a playground, an awesome lake with a pier and pavilion at the end of it (you can rent the pavilion I believe) to soccer, baseball, softball, sand volleyball and a BMX bike track they really fit a lot into a tight urban park. And parking for the most part isn't an issue. This is the park where Kettering has their 4th or July fireworks and it's packed (like 15,000) with people. They have lots of other fun festivals kids fishing derbies and it's home to Metro futbol club and their home fields and practices. The reason for not a 5 star is there is only one bathroom facility in the whole park. But other than that I love the trail around the park and all the sparks fields are in great shape. They really do a great job maintaining everything. Ooo, check this out if you love Pokémon Go! This place is the spot. I've never seen so many people on their phone playing that game around Dayton like I do here. Enjoy!! Update as of October 19 the park has free wifi, woot woot!!

The zip line is popular. With dad's lining up to make kids go faster if they ask to. Many shaded areas for parents to be within running distance if something happens. Probably the most unique thing is what my husband calls the zip line. I've frequently found the handle bar you hang from and whiz across a level bar about 7 ft. Long. This is a similar idea. But instead of a handle bar, there is a long pole with a circular seat at the bottom. This seat hangs about a foot and a half from the ground. Depending on height, size, age, ability you can decide to either sit or stand on this seat. My two year old boy sat on it with no problem. But considering my large belly getting in the way, I decided to stand. Anyway, this thing is twice as long as any other I've seen! And it's like a very wide "V" shape. So it gives to momentum in the first half to make it back up through the second. So fun!! Other unique attractions include a SUPER long slide (not actually very steep, but at the top of a hill and quite long - some families bring paper to sit on in order to slide faster), statues of large turtles and one of those large disc swings. Such a fun place! I take my boy here when we're in the area.

They have also added a little wetlands area nearby to explore. The park features a splash pad, a gym structure, swings, tennis courts, baseball fields, picnic shelter, bathrooms, and plenty of green space. My kids enjoy the splash pad and have become braver with it. They also like the playground. The slides and ground get really hot during the summer so I'd wish they'd do something about that. I think the playground is a decent size, but pretty small during the very busy summer months. I like that the splash pad is open and my kids can run around and still be easily spotted. They have ample parking even with daycare/camp buses.

This place, as the other reviewer mentioned so kindly (helped me to find it!) is off of the beaten path and if you don't know where it is you will most likely miss it. Even my GPS couldn't find the address! You just have to know it is across the street from Bills Donuts, up the hill a little and to the right. There is a concrete sign at the corner that lets you know it's time to turn! The park itself is a decent size with a lot of variety within it's walls. You can play ball, take a stroll in the grass, enjoy their really fun looking water park area I am assuming comes on once it is hot enough outside. There is a really modern well maintained play area for kids with a working water fountain (pretty rare these days, eh?) and really unique elements within the play structure like the huge rocking booth see-saw for example. I would have gone crazy for this place as a kid! I took a ton of photos and posted them to the listing, if you want to get a better idea of the play structure. It really is wonderful, I highly recommend a visit! We drive 30 minutes out of our way for it once a month, and it's always an enjoyable experience.
