Ordered from them last year, but won't be this year. They claim it's all seasoned wood, but I can only report my experience. It could not have been. It would never start easily. It was so difficult having a fire every time. We switched to some true seasoned wood and the difference was amazing! They were very friendly and delivery was prompt and easy. But that wasn't enough. read more

Great service. Good quality wood and it's reasonable. If you need firewood give them a call.

Hillerman's Firewood - what a great dependable family business! I have been a loyal customer for 6 years now. 10 stars from this client! Their well-seasoned almond wood is nicely split and consistently very clean; never caked in mud or debris, and cut uniformly for super symmetrical stacking. I discovered them circa 2019 when I had a stainless-steel liner installed in my chimney for worry-free hardwood heating with my Buck Stove insert. I had called and left a message which was promptly returned by Laura with a very reasonable quote for split, seasoned and DELIVERED almond firewood, and a delivery date within the week. Laura called the day before delivery to confirm the time, and Mark and his assistant arrived right on schedule at 0'Dark:30 to dump my cord of wood as close to my wood storage as possible. This made it SO easy for me to stack it by transferring it with just a few steps, no wheelbarrow needed. Mark's skills at backing into a tight space with close attention to the eaves of the house and overhead wires was absolutely amazing! And the perfectly cut wood in his truck was stacked so tightly and precisely in rows that there was clearly no shortage to my order. This has been my experience every single year since then. I was compelled to share this to neutralize any unfounded negative posts against this honest and reliable family business. They are truly the best people and the best option for your firewood needs each year. read more

I called, they answered. I requested one cord of Almond wood split. She gave me a date and price. Called me the night before with a delivery window. They arrived on time at 5:30am, dumped the wood on my driveway. We had a good conversation. I'll be a repeat buyer. read more

I had called several other delivery places before, Hillerman's Firewood was the only responsive one. They called me back within 15 minutes. I scheduled the delivery of 1/4 cord and they made the deliver within 3 days. They even called me the day before the delivery to confirm. I recommend Hillerman's Firewood to anyone who wants premium wood at reasonable price. They supply almond wood which is awesome: burns evenly, hot, and aromatic. The wood is seasoned and split perfectly. From this day forward I will always buy from Hillerman's Firewood. read more

Wonderful experience with Hillermans. Scheduled me for delivery the next weekend, a little behind schedule but understandably so given multiple deliveries in a day. Had a small issue of volume and called to explain, I got no pushback at all and they were more than accommodating to correct it. Great experience, I'll definitely be back. And pretty solid wood! Dried and burning hot! read more

Great place to order firewood!! Super friendly, fast & responsive. We called & left a message, within an hour we got a call back where we set the delivery date for 3 weeks out. The week of set delivery they call to confirm & gave us a time slot for delivery - no need to be home as you can leave a check under the mat & they will drop in the driveway. They showed up, dropped a good amount off wood, chatted a bit & off he went to the next stop Great company! read more

This was my first experience buying firewood, ever. Hillerman's is a husband and wife operated business and I really appreciated their knowledge and flexibility. Ordering is simple, just place a phone call and Laura will schedule an appointment for delivery. Her husband, Mark, then pops by to leave the wood in your driveway. Everything was on-time and efficient! The almond wood arrived nicely sized and ready for use. It burns really well. I would definitely order from Hillerman's again! read more

My family has been buying firewood from Hillerman's for many years. They are simply the BEST value for Firewood in the Bay Area. We usually order (already split) Almond which burns really well as it is usually a year old by the time Hillerman's sells it. They deliver it for no extra charge and keep their prices low, which I can't say for their competitors. It's always a pleasure talking with Laura in the office and her husband who delivers the wood (we usually talk about investing and NFL football). He has always be really friendly and cheerfully. I highly recommend them. P. S. The summer is the best time to buy for a great deal! read more

This is the one cord I bought from Hillerman's at an expensive amount of $460 but to my amazement it wasn't 4 x 4 x 8. It was actually, 3.6 x 3.3 x 8. It was difficult to determine after drop off until I stack them up due to being busy just to see if it was the measurement I was supposed to receive. God Bless. read more

Laura, Mark and Chris are great... I ordered a cord of well seasoned almond hardwood for $385 and they delivered it within a week. All of the pieces were cut between 16 to 20 inches, properly split and ready to burn. Another positive for Hillerman's firewood. Laura was prompt and friendly on the phone. Mark was on time/within the window and friendly. Excellent pricing compared to other vendors, given delivery is included and it's well seasoned almond wood. Great company to do business with. Now I don't have to run to Home Depot every couple days and pay $20 for a measly stack of oak. Definitely going to call them back next year when I need more. $420 for a cord to 408 THANKS!!!!!!! read more

What a great business. Phone interactions were pleasant and informative. When wood was delivered, Mark (one of the owners) was the gentleman who drove the truck and unloaded. He was incredibly friendly and efficient. The product is incredible as well. Burns hot and very long. Great quality! I'll be ordering again soon! read more

We have ordered firewood from Hillerman's a number of times and I have to say that they have been wonderful. They have been prompt in their delivery times, which is usually very early in the morning for our location, and that's saying a lot considering where they start their day. I recommend them highly. read more

Excellent service and well-cut firewood. I ordered a cord, and I'm sure they gave me much more. The wood is cut ready-to-go, no big logs or weird sizes. Will update once we've had a fire, but I'm optimistic. read more

Live in Livermore. Been buying wood from them for so many years I forget when we started. Never had a problem. I been buying 4 cords as we use it to heat our house during the winter and early spring. So disappointed in this company. We called them almost 6 weeks ago now trying to get a delivery. The first date we had scheduled with them, they didn't show up. This was after waiting 3 weeks for their first available day to deliver. Then, they gave us another date, again waiting 2 1/2 weeks, and again they didn't show up. We waited all day for them and they wouldn't even call us back. This was a complete waste of our time. Had they told us 6 weeks ago when we first called that they couldn't deliver to us, we could have found someone else. read more

Pretty happy with the service I received from Hillerman's Firewood. I called them up last week, left a message, and ended up receiving a call back within a couple days. Spoke to a lady who was very friendly and helpful, clearly stating the prices and the process. She informed me delivery was on Saturday and they would call me the day/night before to confirm the approximate time they'd be over. True to her word, they showed up pretty much around the time she said they would. The entire process took about 10-15 minutes or so as they dumped a pile of wood in my driveway. Once it was over I paid them and that was pretty much that. The 1/2 cord I purchased was a little more expensive than some other places I called in the area, but, I'm ok paying a little more for quality service if that's what it takes, especially if the wood is nice and dry. If I were to have a (very very minor) gripe it was that I had to stack the wood myself. It wasn't that big of a deal and I can understand why that isn't part of their service, BUT, it would have gone a lot quicker stacking it if they were able to assist than just doing it myself. But ... that's ok :) All in all a great transaction. The wood was dry as promised, they very friendly people, and they showed up on time. I will definitely call them back next year if/when I need more firewood. Thanks! read more

I have been using Hillerman's firewood since I moved to the Bay Area in 2010. They deliver well seasoned wood and are fair and honest with what a cord dimensions are. To anyone that writes a review that they do not answer their phones, they are an almond growing family first and foremost. They work very long hours and do get back to you. Be patient, it is worth the wait. I am ordering another 2 cords from them today to get the spring pricing through June 30. What did I learn today? Almond farmers call Almonds "Ammons", the "L" is silent. read more

Turns out what I thought was termites were wood boring beetles. They are everywhere now. Really pissed off that they're selling infested wood. You couldn't pay me to take their wood. read more

I've been ordering my firewood from Hillerman's for the past 20 years. Wood is always seasoned and split nicely to fit in our wood burning stove.... just received this season's delivery from Mark & Laura, ......and I just stacked another beautiful pile of almond for winter... Almond is a great wood for the wood burning stove and Hillerman's always delivers well seasoned logs that burns cleaner than most other woods. read more

Ordered a cord and a half, what I got was a little over a cord and not even that as the length of the wood is 14" long and any piece over 4" round has been split in half, it's more like kindling than firewood 99% was like that. If you want to start a fire in a fire place it's good for that easy to start and burns fast, wood stoves you're feeding the fire every half hour. read more

Expensive! The wood burns well but fast, we got mostly small pieces, burns hot but we need to keep feeding the fire to keep it going. The almond wood with some big oak piece would be good, but they only sell almond. Delivery is spotty, ordered from them the past five years, three times they changed delivery day. This last time they flat out canceled on me. read more

Friendly customer service. Good quality wood with a sweet, nutty smell when burned. I ordered half a cord and had it dropped off on my driveway. Would definitely order from them again. read more

Very friendly service and the almond wood was great. Their price including delivery was very competitive! :)

Mark has been growing almonds for 25 years. The almond wood is seasoned perfectly for burning.

Stuck at home during the COVID-19 shelter in place order and we're running low on firewood. I called Hillerman's to see if they were able to deliver and they certainly were. They delivered on their promised schedule and we left a check under the doormat so we could maintain our social distancing. The Almond was very well seasoned and it burns like a dream. Thanks! read more

Great place! Quick response and fair pricing. Highly rexommend for firewood purchases

I'm pleased with my experience with Hillerman's. Laura was prompt in returning my initial call and we worked to find a convenient delivery date. 12 hours before my scheduled delivery I called and asked about a larger delivery and she was able to accommodate - amazing on short notice! I didn't get a chance to interact much with Mark, but I'll say he seems to be a happy business owner. I say that because he was dropping off wood early - really early ...4:50am early!!! - and he had a huge smile on his face. The best part of the whole buying experience is that the wood appears to be ready to burn. I've used other vendors for oak and oak/almond mixes and most of the time it needs a few months to season before burning. I will update this if I find the wood is "green" or has any issues, thought at this point it looks good to go! Thanks Hillerman's! read more

Just had a very strange experience with this company that still has me shaking mad almost an hour later. I wanted them to stack the wood and was happy/willing to pay more for that. Apparently there was a miscommunication because I now know that they don't stack wood at all because the truck is too expensive to leave idle. Unfortunately I have a bad back and can't stack it myself. Also unfortunately, they had been sitting in horrible Bay Area traffic on 101 for over an hour trying to get up to me and deliver (I was the only one outside their normal delivery range for the day, but I never knew this until they told me in my driveway). This is where is got really strange. The older gentleman implied that I was weak for not being able to stack my own firewood. He said that the only way he would stack was if I were 95 years old (or a professional baseball player who could give an autograph-----WTF?). He said that he was my age and he went to the gym 2x per day so he could stay healthy and still take his grandson to Disney-----again, WTF?). That's when his daughter took over. As I was helping them (bad back and all) put some wood back into their truck, she felt that I invaded her personal space and went into defensive posture saying "go ahead, put your hands on me, see what happens." At this point I was genuinely afraid of her. She went on a tirade of abuse (all captured on video) screaming very bad things at me laced with some of the best profanity I've heard in a while. Unfortunately my neighbors heard it too and came out to see. As a parting blow from inside the truck pulling out of my driveway, she leaned out the window and screamed at the top of her lungs multiple times, "GOODBYE P#SSY" as they drove down my street. Literally shaking in my boots, I wasn't sure whether to call the police or write Yelp. I decided to call the very nice lady (turns out to be Mrs. Hillerman) that I had spoken with on the phone several times. She actually helped me calm down and she said all the right things--and I'm sure she meant them. So I'm not sure what to do from here, but I thought I'd start with this. read more

Left a telephone message and got a return call 5 minutes later, all good. Placed my order and was told my wood would be delivered this Sunday between "5AM & & 7AM". All good still. Give her my credit card number to pay in advance. Get a phone call 5 minutes ago that my order would not be here until 10AM. Not good. You already gave me a window and you need to honor your commitment. She hangs up on me while her husband is in the background yelling. Good ethics and staying behind your word is hard to come by. God help you if you run my credit card and Merry Christmas. You've just ruined my day and mine. Thanks! read more
