Friendly, easy to work with and helped me stack some quality firewood. Will keep ordering from them for our winter heating needs.

These guys have been very dependable, communicative, and consistent. Super friendly people, who stack the wood where I want it, with great care and consideration. The wood changes up which is fun. Delighted to be a repeat customer for the last four years. read more

Excellent quality firewood, and great, friendly service. Well seasoned. Perfectly stacked in our chosen location. Very impressed. We will order from them again! read more

You know how good you feel when you have an excellent interaction? Well, this is exactly how I felt with Jaq at Golden State Firewood. Friendly, great service, on time, clean set-up and a most pleasant experience. I recommend Jaq most highly. Going to tell my friends about him, too. read more

Scheduled online and got a call to schedule delivery in a couple days. I got a call yesterday asking if he could come earlier which worked out for me as well. Deliver was quick and stacked neatly. This is so much better than buying wood in packs! Thanks! read more

Golden State Firewood - Nicely stacked 1/2 cord of wood for the winter. Thanks! - Firewood Near Me

Jaq and the team here are amazing. Responsive, fair price, and always pleasant to deal with. I've been using them for years!

After 2 boxes of firewood from Safeway turned out wet and wouldn't burn, i searched for a local firewood provider. I called Golden State Firewood, they delivered the same day, stacked the firewood neatly in garage, and now we have perfect firewood that burns without issue. Will be reordering from them read more

Quick response. Delivery alerts. Seasoned wood. Stacked. Golden State Firewood has proven to be the most reliable firewood service over the years. read more

These guys are great. Good prices, good quality wood, and great customer service. Very happy with my quarter cord!

They showed up in a truck full of firewood, and I asked them to dump it on the driveway, expecting to spend 5 afternoons, slowly but surely to organize it in my storage areas. The guys said: "No, we will stack it for you!!" I was pleasantly surprised. They used their own design of hand trucks to wheel the stacks to their designated areas, and two guys threw it up. A half a cord is 64 cubic feet. They left me with 84 cubic feet, give or take a couple of cubic feet. Like many reviewers have commented, you pay more but you get excellent service: a clean delivery with your wood stacked in about 1/2 hour. Tax and delivery is included in the price. This wood may last me two years! I am pleased. read more

Ordered it online. Called me a few days later to confirm date. Arrived with extra person. Unloaded it where I wanted. Stacked it nicely. Took Credit card. What more can you ask for. I measured my wood and it was under the 64 cubic feet. But it was raining and we were winging it, so I can't fault them. If you want you can sit with a ruler and get a few more sticks. :) read more

Professional and well-seasoned wood. Jack showed up with a buddy and they stacked the wood right where we indicated. Fire burns well, hot, and clean. Great job. This is 4 stars and not 5 only because we ordered a 1/4 Cord, and according to my measurements what we got was a little less than that. We got about 25 cubic feet, which is a lot of wood, but a 1/4 cord should be 32. For the price ($180), it seems they could be a tad more precise. read more

They get three stars for responding promptly, coming on time, being quick and efficient. However, twice they tried to leave without leaving me a actual 1/2 cord of wood. You need to be on top of this when they arrive and bring out your measuring tape or pre-measure the area where the wood will go and make sure they fill it. Secondly, the wood was almost 100% Walnut or some other low BTU wood that burned away very quickly. I had asked him what the mix was and he said half walnut, half almond. This was simply not true. It was also discolored and a little bit rotten. But if you want wood need it fast and don't mind the big price. Give them a bell. read more

When you invite people to fill out an online form, and say you will get back to them within 24 hours, apparently "24 hours" means "by the end of the next business day". While I understand they're busy this time of year, I do not think they should say "24 hours" if they really mean "Up to 32 hours". I filled out the form yesterday before 9am, and by noon today still hadn't received a call, so I called someone else and placed an order immediately. Even 23 years after the Internet became a "thing", nothing beats talking to a human being directly. I did receive a voice mail from Golden State Firewood explaining that 24 = up to 32, after I'd called someone else. read more

I ordered through their website, Jack called me back within 24 hours and I had 1/2 cord delivered and stacked just where I wanted it that Saturday. Jack gets customer service, and the stacking and friendly service are all included in the price. This was a welcome change from Fessendon Firewood, where the woman who answers the phone is not very friendly, and they just sort of dump and run unless you agree to pay extra. Highly recommended--hard-working guy. read more

We used Golden State Firewood to purchase a chord of mixed (80/20) wood. They delivered exactly when they said they would, they were responsive to our inquiries, and they were very helpful. read more

I got a quarter cord of wood from The Firewood Guys today. It was delivered to my house and neatly stacked for $135, a good price. Jack and his little dog Yoda who travels with him couldn't have been friendlier. Also, It's easy to order through the website - wait about a week for him to call you back. read more

Quick service and good quality, dry wood. Was fully satisfied with my order. They were super nice when they called to schedule the delivery and took care to make sure the order came before the rains hit. I will certainly order from them again. read more

I tried these guys when the service I used last year wouldn't respond... Everything about this guy was great. He answers his phone, he set up an appointment to delivery the very next Saturday, came when he said, stayed in communication about exact timeline as he got closer to us that day. They stack your wood themselves and sweep up afterwards and the wood quality was EXCELLENT. Very dry & cured - better than last year's load. The only thing I take a star off for was I think $180 for a 1/4 cord is very steep, even with the full service aspect that's 80% more than what we paid before (for similar quality hardwood) so that was a little hard to take. Maybe because we had to wait so long this year the price went up, but still, ouch! read more

Jack & all the other gentlemen here are wonderful, on-time, polite and fast. I considered ordering from a competitor but the headache that comes with that whole process just wasn't worth it--to stay in my budget, we resolved to have a few less fires each week than we had been, just so we could order from Golden State Firewood again. We're ordering a whole cord now--I attribute that to their wood being so good. It burns clean and hot, and our chimney is a lot cleaner than when we started burning and it had been coated from duraflames of the past inhabitants. I wouldn't think of going somewhere else for firewood. read more

Always great service! I thought it odd that he wanted the money right then and there. When in previous dealings with this business he would say after delivery and I will charge your card! That's why I gave 4 stars and not 5! read more

Delivered the wood, on time and with a smile in the driving rain on a Sunday in the city. The quantity of wood, aged and stacked, was as advertised. Beats driving to the north bay and trashing my station wagon, and wasting an entire day doing it myself. read more

Golden State was very flexible in scheduling the delivery. They delivered and stacked 1/2 cord of dry firewood in less than 1/2 an hour. Good product and good service. read more

GREAT service and firewood. Loved the stacking job. I thought I had to do it myself as I had to with the last company I used. Also the price includes tax and delivery so even if it seems a little more expensive, it's not. Watch out, as that may be tacked on to your bill with other firewood companies. read more

Filled out the online form, and 3 days later my wood was delivered (after he called). Very professional, and very much worth the price. We burned wood last night and it was HOT! Much hotter than any other wood I've purchased in the past two years. Will definately use this company again. read more

Very professional and courteous. Quick and easy. We just bought too much. The owner and his helper stacked the woods nicely.

I couldn't be happier with the 1/2 cord of wood that I got from Jack. It's all the perfect size and seasoned nicely. He showed up right on time, stacked the wood, cleaned up, and was gone within an hour. All in all and extremely pleasant experience. read more

Would buy again. Ordered 1/2 cord to Orinda. Now after he'd left I found I was unhappy about one aspect of the transaction. So I figured I'd call Jack up, level with him and see his response. He totally made it right. It's the real test of customer service is how mistakes are fixed -- in this case I give Jack 5 out of 5. Good service, sees that the customer is happy -- I would buy again. read more

Very easy, I submitted a form on his website, he returned my call a day later. We scheduled a time, he delivered the wood, stacked it and swept up afterwards. Would recommend! read more

Jack is awesome. Very professional and genuine. Purchased 1/2 a cord. Great price and value. Combo of hard woods. Worth every penny.

These guys may seem a bit more expensive than the others but they have 3 big pluses, which I found hard to beat. 1.) They actually have wood, 2.) They show up, and 3.) for a few dollars more they will carry and stack the wood, without any grumbling. How can you beat that! read more

Filled out the online form, Jack called me 12 hours later. He was incredibly friendly and upbeat on the phone. He asked me when I was looking to have the wood delivered and to my surprise, was able to come 5 days later. We scheduled a 10AM delivery on Saturday morning. At 9:15 he called to say that a customer of his (bakery) needed an emergency delivery and he asked if it would be okay if he came at 10:30AM. He showed at 10:25 and proceeded to unload my 1/2 cord of firewood exactly where I wanted it. When he was done, he swept everything up and was on his way. If you live in the city, this is the ONLY guy you need for firewood. You can call someone who may charge a little less, but have fun trying to get 1/2 cord of firewood from the pile that now occupies your driveway into a neat stack in the back of your house. To top it all of, he's a great guy and really takes pride in his work. As far as the wood goes, it's all recycled orchard wood (meaning that as soon as they cut down the tree, they immediately plant another one) and it's super-dry. It burns easily and puts off a tremendous amount of heat. A perfect experience overall! read more

Great service- delivered during a storm. Efficient and friendly. Good wood. Will use again. Had a couple of guys . knocked out a 1/4 cord in minutes. read more

Jack (Owner) delivered and carefully stacked the mix of walnut/almond firewood at our home with his employees. He was within the window of delivery (on time), courteous and helpful when dealing with my wife. The delivery of their product was perfect and met our expectations - neatly stacked according to half cord specs. We made phone calls to other outfits in the area, but Jack's company checked out to be the best - he/they delivered. We are "fired up" and will continue to use them in the future - they come highly recommended. read more

Great experience! Jack was really friendly and made the whole process super easy! Quality wood and enjoying a fire in my fireplace right now! read more

Jack could not have been nicer, cleaner, quicker or more reasonably priced. What a great resource for folks with fireplaces.

Jack fielded my email quickly and came back to my place a few days later. He made sure I had lots of kindling and split logs for me to make ignition easier. That's the kind of customer service that keeps me coming back. read more

Incredible service. These guys are friendly and on top of it. Super accommodating and will blow ur mind when you realize you have four types of wood to choose from. Very reasonable for delivery as well. Stack up once this time of year and enjoy the whole winter. read more

Crew showed up within minutes of the agreed time and had the wood stacked on my racks very quickly. They had to go down some steps and around my house to get to the the racks, and made not the slightest objection. I've had two fires with the wood, and it's perfectly seasoned. read more

Highlights: * Prompt * Professional * Quality Service * Quality Wood I was very pleased at the professionalism and attention to detail - I had ordered a 1/2 cord of wood it was delivered exactly on time, stack very neatly in a hard to get to place. I was very impressed at Jack's service and the wood quality was as expected aged Almond a very nice treat. read more
