I bought a birthday cake here last week. This bakery has been a family favorite for years especially for the danishes. I didn't have time to do my usual birthday cake option so I went with Hillcrest this time. It's the first cake I've had there. There was a line out the place but they had 3 staff members working and they were cheerful. I scored because I got the last small cake and it was Oreo. I love frosting and it was good but it dried up by the second day. The only other thing I would change would be to have more cake so it evens out the balance of cake to frosting ratio.

For custom cakes, I highly recommend Hillcrest Bakery! First I noticed the EXCEPTIONAL customer service when I called to inquire about ordering a cake. Elise knew exactly what to ask and how to guide me through the process in an efficient, smooth, friendly way. I told her my vision for a monster truck cake for my 3 yr old son, and she took the reins (in the best way!) We spoke about design, flavor, theme, size, all of it, and I was so happy with her guidance creativity and professionalism, plus the follow up email. It seems more and more rare now days to encounter people with those warm & welcoming soft skills, The cake turned out insanely cute. Everything I'd hoped for. And, equally important, it tasted delicious. The frosting was yummy and sweet without being intense or off putting. The filling was light and creamy. The cake was spongy and moist. This was wedding cake level quality @ my son's birthday party and so many people commented on how great the cake tasted. None was left behind on plates, put it that way! The kids in the group really enjoyed the crunch of the pretend mud. It had texture, it had visual appeal, and it was so tasty. What a delightful experience. Lastly I'll say it wasn't necessarily cheap, but I didn't want it to be! You get what you pay for. This was a top quality cake and beats out anything you'd find from the grocery store counter so for special occasions the value is there. Loved our monster truck masterpiece!

When I walked into Hillcrest Bakery, I was overwhelmed in a very good way! They offer a huge variety of items: breads, cakes, pies, cookies, donuts... and everything looks so tasty. I think I hovered around the cases for 5 minutes haha. I really appreciated the employees for checking if I had any questions as some things weren't labeled. The girls are absolutely so sweet and thoughtful, and I never felt pressured or embarrassed while browsing. It's a cute little shop with a lot of family history on their walls, and you can clearly see their commitment to their baking traditions hasn't wavered throughout the generations. There's a small parking lot which is super convenient since street parking can be filled up easily on the weekends! Also, their prices are so fair and reasonable considering they bake everything from scratch. My consistent pick up is the frosted apple spice donut (they're also offered glazed). The spices in the cake donut are warm and aromatic, and the frosting is fluffy. I can't wait to come back

Hillcrest Bakery is an institution in Bothell. They have a great selection of pastries, cakes, and donuts. We stopped by to grab a couple of regular-sized cinnamon rolls and they were delicious. The rolls had a donut-like dough, and so they were light and fluffy. We liked them a lot! We need to visit more often to try more of their products.

I have been back a few times now, and enjoyed the various things I have tried. I usually get the pork rolls, and some cookies. My last trip I got Chocolate cake, and Buttersprintz cookies along with pork rolls. I loved the chocolate cake and the Buttersprintz cookies. I also like their Raspberry Delight cookies.

Very nice selection of great pastries in this cute little bakery in dt Bothell. Unfortunately I am not sure what kind of pastry I got, since they did not properly label the names on all of them. The young buck that served me was new. I noticed this when I asked about the other pastries and his knowledge on them was limited. None the less, he was very polite and quick in severing me. I would be happy to return here again soon and try many others that stand out.

Took a quick trip from work in Woodinville, I had planned to visit a newish bakeshop in Bothell. However, saw yet another annoying long line. So made a split second detour to Hillcrest Bakery instead, thankfully a much shorter line. Plus they have been in business since 1934, got to be doing something right as a local OG indie! There's ample parking, also both indoor and outdoor seating, variety of baked goods, but kind of dour, stoic counter staff. I had limited time, no time to dawdle. I purchased a chocolate ring, a bacon maple bar, and a pair of beef sausage rolls. Later at home, the doughnuts were deemed tasty. The sausage rolls held up overnight in the fridge. It would be great to see how they compare to ones from sites in Redmond and Seattle. Nice to see a classic, old school bakeshop in downtown Bothell going strong!

Wonderful pastries and lovely customer service. The lemon bars and carrot cake are my all time favorite. The carrot cake has coconut on the edge and makes the slice that much more amazing! The sticky bun is pretty good too. Such a large variety of pastries and delicious goodness all in one place.

Our wedding was last week and Christina absolutely delivered! We ordered basically everything on her menu including 2 types of cake (classic vanilla, chocolate with peanut butter and banana), brownies, lemon tarts, 2 types of galettes, cheesecake, and panna cotta with rainier cherry compote. Everything was a major hit! We are lucky our planners saved us a box with some of each or we probably wouldn't have gotten to try anything (and we thought we overordered). The favorite was definitely the panna cotta (although I also loved the lemon tarts and my husband the brownies). When meeting for our tasting, we went with the more extravagant 8 flavor option as my husband is a chocolate fan but I am not...this was well worth the price as we got 8 mini cakes to try which meant plenty to take home and enjoy over the weekend! Christina won us over with her flavors and enthusiasm, she provided some off the menu suggestions for mixing and matching sponge and fillings which was awesome. Ultimately, we settled on a mix of a traditional wedding cake (we were so pleased to get more than one flavor choice), along with a smaller gluten free cake and a number of sweet treats to appeal to a wide range of dietary restrictions and palates. When it came to design, Christina was very attentive to our inspiration photos/vision but also mindful of our budget as sugar past dahlias are not easy or inexpensive! When we discussed incorporating our dogs, she had a vendor lined up to make figurines and took care of the ordering process once we provided her some photos. Ultimately, she knocked it out of the park both with appearance and taste! I am hopeful that she waives her fee minimum in the event we want a one tier anniversary cake (-:

It was pretty easy to make a cake order and the writing was free, unlike online where it says $5 for writing. When I got the cake, I was a bit disappointed. The writing had bled onto the cake, there was a crack in the frosting and it appeared that the frosting at the bottom leaned piped to the board instead of the cake. I didn't bother mentioning this at pick up because it didn't seem like the worker was also the cake person. The cake itself was a tad dry but light and airy. For the price I paid, I was disappointed by the outcome. Even if it was due to additional cake orders due to mother's day, I do expect better than this when I buy a cake from a local bakery. Also if you like crispy croissants, I do not recommend the Sichuan pepper cruffin. It was tasty but it didn't have the crisp that you'd expect from a bakery.

Their menu has a variety of options with the croffles displayed right in front of you so you know what they look like. Their drink is decent but didn't impress us as much as the croffles. This was our first time trying croffles so it may not apply to everyone. They have both the sweet (with fruits) and salty (with meats) options and that fits us perfectly because we have different tastes. The croffles were crispy, not too sweet, and I think they would pair really well with a cup of tea or coffee for breakfast. In overall, I think it was a great experience.
