Be aware this company is terrible. Water issues in the basement a year after moving in. Replaced floors twice, and here we are working on a third. NO help at all! This company does not build high quality home like the prices suggest. It may have the look, but everything else about it is terrible!!!! $750,000 worth of shit read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. The worst building quality and customer service. The home 'looks nice' but it's anything but! Where to start with the laundry list of issues in this 5 year old home?!? Landscaping/grading issues/poor drainage, basement drain tile not laid correctly, deck not to code, chimney flue not to code, roof not to code (had to replace ENTIRE roof!) driveway settling way too much for a 5 year old house, poor caulking of outdoor siding....and I'm sure there's more! This house has been a money pit. We are well over $40,000 in repairs! Thought this would be our home for many years to come, but we have now spent time and money with improvements, to where it should have been in the first place. Hildy homes representatives are condescending, rude, unhelpful, and only care about making fast money. They truly don't care about their buyers. No integrity. They hire shoddy contractors as well. I hope people truly take these reviews seriously, as I'd hate to see other people go through the financial, emotional, and physical toll this house has caused us. DO NOT BUILD WITH HILDY HOMES. read more

Be careful with this company, there is no advantage in building with them they will charge you more. I was looking at house with a certain price point in a different neighborhood to see if I liked it. They were offering an incentive on the house that was already built. We wanted to do the same house in a different area and was quoted an astronomical price difference. read more

For those looking at purchasing a new home, I would strongly consider looking elsewhere. We purchased a Hildy home a little over a year ago. On April 26th 2024, we like many others in the Elkhorn community were affected by the tornado which caused significant damage to our home. While the majority of our community rallied around looking for ways to assist, Hildy took a different approach and has decided to withhold plans to the home that are needed for the rebuilding process. We did not ask for these to be given without charge (it would have been nice, but offered to pay) the message relayed is that they are 'copywritten' and giving them to other builders is 'essentially giving the keys away to the business'. Other Neighbors have shared letters from the planning department that Hildy has involved their lawyer and are receiving unwarranted threats of "utilizing any portion of Hildy Homes' plans may subject you and your contractor to legal consequences"... Not quite sure about the marketing strategy here, but pretty disappointing to say the least. read more

I'm SO disappointed in Hildy Homes decision not to provide Hildy homeowners with the prints for their own houses destroyed by the April 26 tornado. They said they don't do rebuilds, but they aren't allowing access to the home details for whoever will be rebuilding. Shame on them for not making exceptions to their protocols in the face of this disaster! As a Hildy villa owner I will not be recommending them going forward. read more

I bought a home from Hildy in 2021 and if there is one thing I've learned it's that they operate in bad faith and that their warranty is non-existent. My house has had flooding issues in the basement and patio from improper grading since day 1 and after literally hundreds of emails and calls, their vendors just don't show up. They constantly miss appointments to correct the issues...after over a year of waiting I ended up paying thousands out of pocket to fix the issue myself. Buyer beware! It's a real crapshoot when you get a Hildy home. read more

Get an inspection! We didn't because of the 12 month warranty but I wish we had. We're not builders and didn't know what to look for. A lot of things went wrong after the 12 months were up. Turns out someone had screwed a cover plate into the blackwater pipe and it started leaking! We had to hire a plumber to come in and fix it. We had to rip out drywall, carpeting and base molding which were all damaged. We also had a huge section of dirt wash out from under the drive way after a big storm. We happened to email the builder about it on Mother's Day and he yelled at us for bothering him on a day he was spending with family. We didn't expect a response that same day, geez! He sent out six teenagers to shovel dirt into the hole. When I asked them how far back they managed to get the dirt, they pointed to the halfway point and said they couldn't get dirt any farther. Other things wrong: Gushers the first time we turned the sprinklers on. Nobody had bothered to hook them up to the plumbing. Door bell doesn't work. Looks like it short circuited? Lights flicker when I turn on appliances. Dead areas of grass because the sprinklers don't reach them sufficiently. Utility company came in to inspect the furnace because it was new and cited us because it wasn't grounded. Carpet is cheap and became matted within weeks. The pipe for water being pumped from the radon mitigation system is supposed to extend at least three feet away from the foundation according to county ordinance. It was not. Water was just being dumped against our foundation. Finish carpentry is sloppy. Paint is chipping off. Painters just sprayed right over clods of dirt stuck to the exterior. My dad, a house painter, is rolling in his grave. I'm afraid to know what else is wrong that we aren't aware of. As others have pointed out, when things go wrong under warranty, the builders just refer you to the sub contractors and make you deal with them yourself. We paid $600,000 for this? read more

In a previous post on Google, Hildy says they know exactly how we feel because they lost several homes as well to the April tornado. HOW DARE YOU! Were you there when the tornado ripped through one of YOUR homes? Did your children lose the roof over their head? Are you displaced? Of course not, and for you to put yourself in our category is, quite honestly, very offensive. We got a text the day after asking how our house was. We told her that ours is still standing, but does have damage. Her summarized response was, well that's good because some people lost their homes. Excuse me! Just because our house is standing does not mean we did not lose our home. (I DO have a screenshot of this message and if ANY debate wants to be made I WILL post it). Secondly, let's speak to the quality of their homes. This is extremely overlooked. My husband and I were already looking into getting the carpet replaced in several rooms and we had only lived there for 1.5 years and you can not tell me it's wear and tear. Before we moved to Nebraska, in our previous home, we only had to stretch carpet in 2 rooms and we lived there for almost 4 years. No replacement needed. It's all about pad quality, not carpet. My sons room had no insulation in his roof or parts of the walls. We moved in before it got cold, so never noticed until winter came. We contacted the insulation company that was used and they had to come out twice to spray insulation. I get this is not directly on Hildy, but is Hildy's GC not doing quality control? I do have additional examples if people would like more information before buying with Hildy. My husband and I have "joked" that at least now we can build a quality home. This is very unfortunate to say when you buy a $600k plus home, but the only quality Hildy cares about is what's in their bank account. read more

Our new home was destroyed in a tornado (total damage to everything except the foundation), as were many other Hildy Homes in the neighborhood. Instead of helping their customers, Hildy stopped responding to requests and have made our rebuilding process even harder by refusing to let us reuse their architectural plans (of the home we BOUGHT from them less than a year ago!). They are also threatening to sue the city if they release the architectural plans to us (the city legally has to keep the plans for any 3 year/less old homes) and any builders/contractors who reuse "any portion of the plans". Shame on you, Hildy Homes! The most random strangers have gathered to help us rebuild, and instead of being the first in line to help, you are making this even more devastating for our families. As a young family who will sure buy more homes in the area down the road, and who have a large network of friends who are planning to do the same, we will never be your customer again. read more

I have owned a hildy home for nearly 2 years. Some good, but mostly poor communication from the builders who seems deflect blame and never take responsibility for anything that's wrong. They don't even know how to lay sod correctly and it has resulted in unusable conditions. And not just on my home on nearly every hildy home I see. They dug a whole in the front of my yard and to relieve pressure on the drainage system that is backfilling because of some blockage. That was almost a year ago and the hole and the blockage still exist despite several attempts to get them to fix it. Ryan Hilderbrand takes no responsibility for his homes. Once you move in it's just deflection and excuses top to bottom. Its amazing how little effort this company puts in for its customers. I think it's safe to assume the hildie brothers attended slip and fall school and then sent their lawn guy through. read more

Hildy Homes is not only a good company to work with but they build awesome homes. Very helpful, follow through is great, quality of work is spot on. My clients felt they were cooperative and always got back to them in a timeful manner. They take pride in their homes. read more

I would highly not recommend Hildy Homes. They build a nice house but do not stand behind them. Their warranty process is a joke. They want you to go to their web site and fill out a warranty claim. Then they never respond back. I only was contacted after making a comment on the neighborhood web site. Then they promised the world but still never did what they said. They expect the home owner to contact all the subs and deal with issues they them. The subs don't get back to you either. After contacting the realtor back I was promised results again but then again nothing was ever taken care of. They are terrible in the customer service side. Very disappointed. read more

I bought a Hildy Home a little over a year ago. It seems their approach is to build a new home with little variation from many others in the same neighborhood. I think this keeps the price down, but it does get a little bit cookie cutter feeling. Which isn't always bad, but when you pay $400k for the home, you really don't like to have 5 others just like it in the same neighborhood. Otherwise the home was a petty good cost for the size and finishings. We have been happy with it so far. My only other complaint about the company is the service. During final closing and during the warranty period. The contacts are really gruff with no customer service. You don't get the feeling that they want to talk to you, ever. When we had warranty issues, we were to contact the vendors/third parties directly. This puts a lot of burden on the home owner to figure out who to call and arrange appointments. Most of the vendors were great with good customer service. We did have troubles with one who never came at all though. read more
