I moved in two years ago and it was fine, we lost power once in the winter and they offered space heaters, no big deal. I had cockroaches, but they acted very quickly and were gone soon. However, the past few months have been horrid; west-facing apartments flood during heavy rain which we had a lot of this summer, we had a power outage in the summer that forced me to throw away food, and we've more frequently NOT had hot water/air conditioning/heat than we have had it since then! Plus, the laundry machines stop working CONSTANTLY, or the dryers will not run with heat and essentially eat my money, or the app just stops working. Don't get me wrong, the price of the apartments are great, but at this point the quality just isn't worth it. Will change my rating if they improve things a bit. Otherwise, I won't be staying here next year. read more

Suuuper affordable rent for anyone who would prefer not to live with a roommate. All utilities included, rec room, and gym at only $619 a month, with an optional $50/month for reliable wifi that they'll install in your room for you. Not to mention free off-street parking and being along the Creighton shuttle route so students don't need to buy a CU parking pass. I compared a dozen different places, and this one beat them all price-wise hands down. Besides that, the staff is super friendly. There's been a little turnover since I moved in a few months ago, but whoever is in the office always has a smiling face. They also put on some sort of program every month; whether it's a "back to school breakfast bar" or a "guess how many candies are in the jar" (with prizes), I truly do appreciate the effort that they put in. Yes, the rooms are a tad tight with only ~400 sqft, but that's more than enough for a bachelor pad. All in all, it's been a blast living here so far, and I'm looking forward to the next few years. The one thing to watch out for though is that half of the units face the Central High School football field, so you might need to acquire a taste for the sound of marching band practice. read more

I spent my first night in my new apartment, yay! The building is a mix of college students from Creighton University and non students. Situated on or dang near the campus, there are a lot of people with backpacks and it feels rather safe due to the large amount of Emergency call buttons. The ladies in the office have been exceptionally helpful. I rented my unit long distance and were patient with me when I wanted to look at the Capitol Row units once I arrived. Rent difference CH $624 per month and that includes all utilities and some cable channels out of the wall. CR $820 and you pay all your utilities. No elevator in the CR, so you might get a 3rd floor walk up. CH has two in the building. The move in process was fairly easy, in the basement there are baby shopping carts and one dolly which can convert into the flat bed for your convenience. Since I arrived with two gorilla boxes and a couple of loose items, I was able to move in within 15 minutes. The front door is key carded for security reasons and opens up into the foyer. WiFi is offered for free on the first floor. The apartments here are 400 sq ft. They are surprisingly large. My new queen sized bed was delivered yesterday and they poor guys had to schlep it up 8 flights of stairs as it couldn't fit into the elevator. (I tipped them well, I felt bad from them). There is still so much room in the apartment even with the new bed, TV and desk. There is also a full sized fridge! The closet is big enough to camp out in. The laundry room is on the first floor rather then in the dank, dark basement. So far, the only downside I can see is there are no trash chutes. You have to walk it down to the basement, through the garage and outside. Also, there is a lot of ambient noise from the freeway when the window is open. I used to live right on the Max line in PDX so this really doesn't bother me. There are two options for parking, on the street or in the back lot; or the pay for covered garage. I have looked at several apartments, but I think the cost of renting here compared to the amenities is great. The management is very caring about their tenants too. While walking around the various buildings, the manager knew several people in the parking lot and was quick to give them a friendly "hi". It may seem like no big deal, but there are several complexes where the management seems snooty to me. Still deciding, but I thought Capital Row & Capital Hill deserved a big THUMBS UP! read more

I am a medical student nearby and was looking for an affordable place to live. I am a pretty low maintenance person when it comes to living arrangements; I was excited to live in my first apartment alone. Saying that I HIGHLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM LIVING AT CAPITOL HILL. It is unsafe--it had mold problems and the elevator that would get stuck about 1-2x/week. Their appliances would often break as well. In addition, management is VERY POOR and disorganized. They still have not returned my deposit after almost a year now. The staff seems helpful, but for some reason cannot accomplish simple tasks. For example, they nearly towed my car even though I was paying for my garage spot. I asked for my car permit many times and they said they would give it to me but they never did. I absolutely love Capitol Hill Student living. The placement of the apartments are perfect whether you're a Creighton Student or not. The apartment space is decent for a studio and the staff is friendly! Downfalls- I wish the bathroom and the kitchen were updated, and they had air conditioning in the elevators and hallways, but I can't complain too much the pricing is great! read more

Terrible front desk service. Multiple communication errors involving my lease, security deposit, service requests. Any service requests I put in were never fixed within two weeks. I was told I could sublease multiple times, then told I violated my lease and would not receive my security deposit after having numerous communication with the staff about the sublease. One thing I really like about living at Capitol Hill is the view overlooking the horizon. Although the elevators are old and are not certified, elevators do their jobs well. Another good perk of living here are the included utilities, which not many places offer. So if you are looking to rent at a reasonable price and a nice view, renting here is for you. read more

I have lived at this apartment building for the past 4 years and I would have to disagree with Dave on most of the items listed. Overall, I must say that I am very satisfied with living at Capitol Hill. Yes, I was also affected by the abatement process and decided to move apartment units, but it was a very small inconvenience for all the wonderful aspects of this property (plus they hired professional movers free of charge since it was their fault.) Pros: 1. Excellent location for Creighton students since it is less than a 5 minute walk to campus and the property is located on the shuttle route. Also good for anyone who works in the downtown area since the drive is literally like 5 minutes into the heart of downtown Omaha. I am a person who leaves home at the last minute possible, and I can say that you can't get any better than this for convenience. 2. Lots of free parking that is relatively safe regardless of what was previously written (and I can say this because my car was one that got broken into but I did have my GPS out on the dash...I guess I was asking for it) 3. On-site management who are super friendly and helpful. 4. Onsite laundry (4 washers, 5 dryers) - $1 wash and dry. Pretty damn cheap if you ask me 5. Lots of events and goodies put on by management - various cookouts on holidays, doughnuts in the lobby on Mondays, monthly birthday cakes to celebrate residents' birthdays, random days where there are goodies, Bingo for various prizes, etc. It's a very fun environment that is good for students and families alike 6. Secure entry 7. Clean environment 8. Walls are thick and keep out all noise from your neighbor's unit 8. All utilities are included with rent, including the first 28 channels on cable Cons: 1. Only studios available for rent in Capitol Hill (larger units are located in their sister apartment Capitol Rows) 2. Kitchen is super small - I purchased a separate island to get more preparation area. Most rooms also have a fridge the size of a mini fridge...but just ask for an apartment with a large fridge! 3. You pay more for the "view" if you live higher than the 7th floor I'll miss this place once I move to Oakland in less than 2 months. I just hope to find a place like this in CA! read more

Capitol Hill is a great place for students to live, it is a super close walk to campus and is even on the shuttle route. The studios are a little small but good for the price. The leasing office puts on a lot of community events and the lobby is perfect for studying. read more

I have been a loyal resident at capitol hills apartment for 2 years. I took over another tenants lease during the summer and my room was never repainted or had the carpet cleaned when I took over the lease. There was a wine stain from the previous tenant that I mentioned to the office so I would not be charged at the end of my lease. I got a call from the office last week asking if I wanted to end a month early and let a new tenant move in and I was happily willing to do so. We agreed for me to move out on Sunday the 26th. I came in Thursday to sanitize the apartment and move out my things. I had a few things leftover and decided to do it Saturday since my official move out date was Sunday. On Friday, I received a call asking if they can inspect the place and clean the carpet for the new tenant. I was asked if I wanted the belongings that are there and I specifically said "YES"!! I still had many shampoos, conditioners, a physics binder, Clorox wipes, a sanitizer spray bottles, towels, and more. The office claimed they did me a favor by cleaning the wine stain without charging me, but I did report the stain when I moved in. However, it seems that the office neglected to make an official report and add it to their records despite my complaint. The day after (Saturday), I went to my apartment to move out the last minute items that I had left, but I found that all my belongings were trashed and my hangers were thrown in a box (many were even broken). When I tried to complain, the officer responded saying it was "a misunderstanding" on their part and that maintenance thought I had already moved out. Upper management did not communicate properly to their staff, and their failure to do so resulted in my property being damaged. Their way of resolving the issue was by taking out my property from the trash can and sanitizing it for me. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone. The staff is reckless and have no empathy or respect to their tenants or the tenants' property. I am very disappointed and in disgust by what happened. read more

It is super close to campus, the area has increased security standards, and yet you still feel more independent.
