I chose the McCall Farm because it's halfway between wine tasting along highway 46 and the beaches of San Simeon with easy access to restaurants in Cambria. As expected, when it was cold and foggy a few miles away, the farm was sunny and warm, snuggled up against the hills. The valley road that the farm is on is lined with big oak trees and gorgeous hundred year old farm houses fenced in with white picket and flowers. Very romantic and relaxing. You can easily spend an afternoon on the porch here sitting in the rockers and petting the cats or dogs (if you like, they're fine either way). It's worth it to schedule your day around having wine and cheese here! There are only two rooms but they are equally charming with fresh flowers, handmade soaps and gorgeous views of the gardens and hillsides. Our bed was really creaky and it made us self conscious, the only negative of the experience. On the other hand, their room rates are far more reasonable than other choices in the area with a more gourmet breakfast. The people in the other room were polite and interesting, great company. If you are uncomfortable with the intimacy of a B&B, this is not the place for you. The house and the setting themselves are intimate. We really enjoyed our hosts and appreciated that they have lived in this area so long. They pointed us to some out of the way activities and made dinner recommendations that were excellent. We took a long walk around the property with the dogs and got a great view of the valley. It's like staying with old friends.

I have only ever done hotel deposits via credit card- who carries cash? And why did they expect everyone showing up to check in to have $200 cash with them? We asked what proof/receipt is offered if we went to get cash- they answered: "We put a STICKY NOTE on your paperwork saying you paid and leave it in the back room." Gee how comforting! Anyone who has traveled before knows these are major red flags- I pushed back immediately and asked to speak with the manager on the phone. The manager went off on a rant that someone's credit card didn't work and they broke their tv. How is that my fault? I was there with my mom to visit family and in bed by 9 every night. I was not changing my mind and the manager said they would waive the cash deposit. The front desk employee said he would call me to find an alternative solution- guess what? They never called. Housekeeping services door sign was put up at 8:45 AM on Thursday. We got home close to 830 PM and it wasn't done! We had to go to the front to get more towels. When they actually did service the room a day later, they didn't replace cups, tissues, or toilet paper. They never checked/filled the conditioner in the shower (as my frugal mom uses hotel-provided stuff ha ha) Seriously what kind of place is this? We just chose it because it was cheap and had decent reviews on here- never again. CASH DEPOSITS? WHAT YEAR IS THIS

We were returning to the states from a 6 month sabbatical, relocating to the Central Coast area and needed a place to stay while house hunting. From the beginning, the property manager Leslie was very responsive and very accommodating. We had a few requests, which included having the grandparents visiting with their dog for a few weeks and Leslie was very accommodating to all our needs. The property was perfect for our stay. It had just the right amount of room and space, the backyard was perfect to accommodate the dog, and had all the supplies and amenities we needed. This venue is very family oriented, with lots of outdoor activities surrounding the area that seem to take just about 20 min driving distance to get to (Morro Bay, Montana de Oro state park/beach, hiking trails, San Luis Obispo). This property is located centrally in Los Osos in walking distance to a couple markets, a couple restaurants (including an alehouse that has live music), a playground, pickleball/tennis courts, library, skate park, and basketball courts. Our kids loved walking over to the old closed down school a block away and playing in the field. We went on wonderful walks around the friendly neighborhood and took in the amazing views of Morro Bay. We had a magnificent view of Morro Bay Rock from our dining room window. And we could see the playground and school grounds from our living room window. Leslie made sure to check in with me here and there to see how our stay was going, and again was very responsive if I had any questions or needs. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend this property and management company to anyone wanting to stay in the Central Coast area.
