Ocean Pines rental - view from balcony
    Yuli K.

My family of six rented the Ocean Pines home from Friday to Monday over the memorial day weekend. The house is definitely capable of having more people and it felt big for the six of us (no kids). We were rarely home except to sleep and occasionally relax. We took advantage of the close proximity to the ocean and wineries and spent the vast majority of our time out and about. If we spent more time at the house I would have deducted a star and a half. The general condition of the house was fairly clean but the interior could use updating. The cushions on the dining room chairs were all stained so we placed paper towels (that we brought) over it to sit (which wasn't that often). Some bed covers were stained. Towels in the bathroom smelled moldy so we used the ones in the closet which were better. The sheets in the master bedroom smelled like the last guest so we had to wash them.* We were rarely in the living area and never in the loft area. Personally, I didn't want to sit on the couches after I saw the dining chair cushions. In terms of layout I didn't like that all three bedrooms were in what felt like the basement. The location might have contributed to the general dank feeling. I did like the fact that there were king sized beds in each of the three bedrooms. Overall, we loved Cambria. We will choose another rental though if we ever return! * We heard back from Breen very quickly addressing our concerns (we filled out a survey). According to Breen, the house is cleaned by a professional cleaning service after each stay. We were assured that the sheets were all cleaned. I just want to note that the sheets in the other two bedrooms were fine. We had an issue with the sheets in the master bedroom (including the pillowcase covers), which smelled like a combination of curry and body odor.

My family and I stayed at the 1086 Hillcrest rental the week of Thanksgiving and had a horrible and exhausting experience dealing with this rental management company. The downstairs master suite had mold growing on the carpet by the stairs. The smell was so strong it actually could be smelled upstairs in the main dining area. The company did not warn us about this and they did not send anyone to come and treat it/ remove it. Looking back through reviews since 2011 this property seems to have had a long standing issue with this that they have not handled. They reimbursed us an inadequate amount and we actually had to go stay somewhere else for some nights to get away from the mold. While I understand that this sort of thing happens all of the time with rental properties, their lack of communication prior and the subsequent communication during our stay did not remedy the situation. I would advise people against using this company simply because of their poor communication and poor customer service.

One of the problems when staying with dogs at a hotel is that, at least with my dogs, they tend bark at every little noise. With people checking in at all hours of the day, this can become annoying. So I figured staying in a small bungalow would be a good fit. Not only would did it have it's own private backyard for them to run around in, I could also kick back and do a BBQ. Doing an online search for pet-friendly places I stumbled upon Cambria Beach Bungalow, which is managed by the Blue Whale Inn in Cambria. Looking at the photos, I decided to stay there. Although expensive, I really enjoyed my stay here. It's about a block away from the Beach, so it was real easy to walk the dogs down there. The interior is country home kitsch, it has two bedrooms and some fold out couches in the living room where you can accommodate more guest. The main drag to Cambria is less than a mile so it's easy to get supplies there. The backyard has a nice garden and plenty of room to run for small dogs. There is a fence to hold the dogs in, but a larger athletic dog should be able to jump it if they had the urge. They have a charcoal BBQ in the back yard , so I went to Soto's Market in Cambria and purchased some grass-fed Hearst Ranch rib-eyes and hamburger to grill. Mighty tasty! I enjoyed my stay at the Cambria Beach Bungalow as did my dogs. You do pay a pet fee as well as a cleanup fee so it does get expensive, but hey, once in a while I will splurge for the pets.

The lush lawn is a pleasure and it even has a fenced back yard for your furry, 4 legged, family members.

I told him that was not true as the person grabbed the paper when we checked in and wrote our room and time to be cleaned. The pool, not working and empty. The hot tub had too much chemicals and my skin itched like crazy. I stayed here many years ago and was always greeted with a friendly voice and granted early and late access even when I would pay. I will never stay here again. Maybe the people are not gay friendly... not sure. Bye, bye! Next....

Really enjoyed the complimentary wine with ocean view and one of my biggest reasons for booking it was due to they accept dogs, which says a lot about an establishment. That being said, there are areas for improvement. When I checked into my room, I noticed that the the dark blinds were stuck so I went to the office to see if they could help. The manager came to my room; tried to lower them and agreed they were stuck. She said she would ask the maintenance person to fix it. A day went by and nobody came by. I was awoken to a bright room early in the morning so my sleep was cut short. I went back the office and the same manager welcomed me with "yeah, what's up"? I highlighted that nobody came by to fix it and she seemed pretty indifferent but said she would request it again. Needless to say, nobody showed up to fix it during my whole stay so I was greeted with shortened sleep thanks to the bright room in the mornings. While I was checking out, I highlighted this to the new manager and she laughed it off, saying that's why she brings blindfolds when she travels. No discount offer or anything. Furthermore, their door key cards are the most sensitive I have ever encountered. I had to have them reprogrammed 3 times during my stay. Also, the owner apparently requested that they close the wine tasting early due to rain so, when I showed up to use my complimentary wine vouchers, I found it closed over an hour earlier than their posted closing time but the server did provide me with the complimentary wine since I was a guest but they were no longer offering food so no marinated olives and nuts to go with it. That being said, the Inn does have a great location; is a value and I love that it is dog-friendly but they do need to work on their customer service. Oh and some more Vegan options and recycling/compost bins would certainly help.

I called multiple times over two days to confirm we were bringing our dog and never got an answer. you do have to leave a voicemail and they will return call. There is no AC unit, which may be an issue for some guests. especially for hotter days and the room does not have cross wind/circulating windows, Also, the booking photos show a sliding glass door to the beach (Hotel.com needs to update photos), but the hotel is actually across the street. Our window faced the water, but it's not a direct walk-out beach property. Now for the positives, the staff (all of them) were amazing. The rooms are bungalow-style and very clean and spacious. The hotel is pet-friendly $100 fee, and check-in/check-out was easy. The check-in area feels cozy and homey, with couches, chairs, books, and games available. They offer beer, wine, adult beverages (Adult options for your coffee), plus a kitchen and outdoor fireplace sitting area. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach, about a 2-min walk to the water. The room was large and well-stocked with a mini fridge (fees may apply), huge comforters, bathrobes, slippers, a fan, fireplace, shower supplies such as body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, and a sitting chair. There are many additional amenities available for a fee in the room and in their lobby area. In the morning, they deliver a basket with pastries croissants, cinnamon rolls, coffee, orange juice, and champagne, a really nice touch. They also have bikes you can use and go bike riding, corn hole games, picnic benches, There's also an ice maker on-site. Parking spaces are small, so be cautious if you have a lifted truck or wide rims. The area itself is very nice. The hotels along the coastline are set up similarly, facing north and south, so most have somewhat obstructed or no ocean views or direct walk-on beach access. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, Hotel cost wasn't too bad but remember all the hotels in this area do not have walk out beach rooms. Area is very quiet, relaxing, and peaceful, and EVERYONE is pet friendly even with a pitbull breed. Our kids had a blast in the ocean and were able to play board games eat ice cream and enjoy the scenery. there are several benches along the walk path in case you need to sit down and relax. There is small community town about 15min tops. several restaurants and shopping. old town style, very homey. so, if you're looking for a disconnect type of vacation, no party scene, just want peaceful and relaxation, this is the place. I will attach pictures and I do apologize because these were at the end of the trip and not when we first arrived. so, excuse the beds. The hotel was very clean and have hardwood floors.
