Hightower is a very good hard to find brewery. It's worth finding it. They have a good variety. A few are kind of hoppy. There's also many that are sweet. It doesn't look like a brewery. It's attached to the side of the owners' house. This is homemade quite literally. For such a small place they have a lot of beer. The newest was the Cherry Pie Sour. I don't like sweet beer that much, but it was pretty good. It's about $5 for a pint. They also have some harder styles. It has a bar in the garage. It has a little shed where you can sit at a few tables and play games. They are working on a new building that will open up this year.

What a great place! Can't say enough about the couple that run this place!! Very friendly and informative! They have something for everyone! The Hilltop Blues is great! The hubby loved the Coffee Stout and Yama Yama Yama! The outside area was a nice surprise.. food truck on hand was Rubbin Butts!! Pretty good eats!! Only thing I would like to be different.... more comfortable bar stools I know I could have moved to a table but.... we were enjoying the conversation at the bar!! To sum this all up.... we are probably going to be frequent patrons!!! Can't wait to taste the new flavors coming up!! If you haven't been here yet...your missing out!!

Great pet friendly brewery. They sell bagged pretzels but that's all. They have food trucks certain days and allow you to bring food with you. You can even have it delivered from some local places. We're more of a seltzer fan and they've mastered the seltzer flavors. Our favorite so far has been grape but they've had Tang, Pineapple, Fruit Punch and others. You can always sample anything you want before you buy a glass of it. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming there. Definitely stop by if you're in the area.

I've been seeing people post online for quite a while about Hightower. I would have gone sooner but it's and hour and fifteen minutes one way for me. They seem to specialize in several different styles and from what I hear do all well. Their sours, IPA's and stouts are what they seem to be known most for. I did try a sour there yesterday and enjoyed it. The others I bought and tried were all NEIPA's. They did these quite well. I would go more often if it weren't so far. It is a decent little space, bet it's much nicer in warmer months. Definitely use you GPS to get here. It has some steep switchbacks to get to it. Yet another reason to never drink and drive as it would be disastrous.

O... M... Amazing! What a great little spot... don't let the windy road deter you, Greg and Megan are awesome! Their sour is on point and their Hilltop Blues is a new fan favorite!

A Hidden Gem Brewing with Heart and Hops in Toledo, OH…read more We were about 30 minutes southwest of Toledo on April 5, 2025, when we decided to check out a local brewery we'd heard great things about--and we're so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like longtime friends. I had the pleasure of chatting with Lisa Bauman, who owns the brewery with her husband, Mike. Both are proud Toledo natives. Mike, a retired police officer and military veteran, has been brewing beer for over 30 years--and it shows. What started as a dream became reality in July 2023 when they opened the brewery after completely transforming what used to be a dentist's office (yep, you'd never guess!). They bought the building in 2021 and spent years renovating, building on, and navigating the complicated web of licensing. Lisa mentioned the TTB was manageable, but Ohio's state licensing was a different story. Still, their passion, grit, and commitment carried them through, and the result is a beautiful space pouring even better beer. Now let's talk about the beer--because WOW. We kicked things off with a sampler and were seriously impressed: River Rat IPA (6%) - A juicy hazy IPA brewed with locally grown malt, Zythos and Azacca hops. It's got citrus and tropical notes, but with a softer, smoother body than your typical hazy. Super drinkable and fresh. Red "Knight" Ale (6.75%) - This red ale has a great depth of flavor. Notes of caramel and raisin from a mix of malts (some local) make it rich without being too heavy. Balanced and satisfying. Happy Pillzzzzzzz (6.69%) - An Imperial Pilsner that lives up to its clever name. It's a classic German-style pils with a crisper profile, slight sweetness, and smooth malt finish. Dangerously easy to sip. Meg B's Blue Light Special (5.5%) - A blueberry ale that completely surprised me. I'm not usually into fruity beers, but this one was smooth, not overly sweet, and incredibly well done. A total standout in its category. Then came the big winner: I was planning on getting a glass of the hazy, but Lisa offered a taste of their Scottish ale, and--damn. It blew me away. Tipsy Kilt (7.75%) - A Scottish-style "wee heavy" ale that instantly became my favorite of the night. It's rich, malty, with just the right amount of sweetness, brewed with English malts and hops. The name is as perfect as the pour. This brewery is the real deal--from the quality of the beer to the story behind it. Lisa and Mike have created something truly special here. It's not just about hops and barley--it's about community, dedication, and a whole lot of heart. If you're anywhere near Toledo, make the trip. This place deserves to be on your beer bucket list. Cheers to the Baumans and everything they've built--can't wait to come back!

Every table was taken as were most seats at the bar. Someone was hosting a birthday party and had pizza brought in from an outside establishment. The beer menu was expansive and included a few seltzers. The consensus from the group was that these are heavy hitters! The ABV seems low because after a couple, you're definitely feeling it. The staff were friendly. You really get the small town feel here, as most of the bar staff knew the patrons on a personal level. The bathroom was clean and I loved the Christmas decor they had up! Prices were fair for the quality and alcohol content. They also have flights of 4 5-oz pours for $10.

From Instagram to the website, it gave the impression that it was a brewery, so I was excited to try something new. We were seated quickly outside, which was great. When our waitress came over, I asked about their beer list. She told me their cooler had gone bad and all of their beer was currently bad. I asked if they had anything on tap, and she said no. Confused, I asked if they had just opened, and she said they had actually been open since 2020. At that point, I asked if they brewed their own beer, and she told me they did not. She said someone in Dover, OH, brews for them--but currently, the only beers available were Busch, Bud, Blue Moon, and Saucy's IPA. While Saucy Brew Works is a good Ohio brewery we've visited before, it was disappointing to realize this place wasn't an actual brewery and didn't serve anything brewed in-house. I settled for the Saucy's IPA, which was fine, but I had really hoped to try their own beer--especially given the name and branding. That said, the food came out quickly and was actually quite good, which helped redeem the experience a bit. Overall, just be aware this isn't a real brewery, and if you're going for the beer, you might leave a little disappointed. But if you're just looking for a bite to eat, it's worth checking out.
