Before starting hand therapy, I made sure that it was covered by BOTH of my insurance providers (Medicare & AARP Plan'N' (Medigap). Secondary insurance picks up EVERYTHING that Medicare does not cover. I'm told their office bills my AARP plan in addition to Medicare. They agreed everything would be covered. My first appointment was Feb. 14, 2020. Medicare paid Second appointment - Feb. 21, 2020 " " Third appointment. Feb. 26, 2020 " " Fourth appointment March 05, 2020 " " Then, Covid-19 came along. I didn't feel safe, so I cancelled all my remaining appointments (3-9, 3-11 & 3-20). in plenty of time NOT TO BE BILLED. FIVE MONTHS LATER, today, Saturday Sept. 12, 2020, I receive a bill in the mail for $78.66. It WILL NOT BE PAID BY ME. Obviously, Highline Hand Therapy CANNOT BE TRUSTED when it comes to insurance and billing. I would not, under any circumstances, recommend the Highline group for hand physical therapy; because, WHO likes "financial surprises"? ! read more

When I tore a ligament and tendon in my wrist, my primary care physician sent me to an Occupational Therapist (not Highline Hand Therapy) . I was there for about a month and didn't really have any complaints but my hand wasn't getting better. When I went to see the orthopedic surgeon for my hand, I asked who he recommended for hand therapy and he recommended Highline. It was much closer to my house than where I was going before, but it was not a network provider under my insurance plan. I thought I'd give it a try to see if it was better than where I was already going. I felt it would be worth paying a little extra to get better care. I went for the initial visit and I could tell right away that the care there was superior to where I was going before: the questions, the testing, the information, and the treatment I was given by Beverly convinced me that this was where I needed to go to get the best results. When the new year came around and it was open season, I changed to a different insurance company so that my hand therapy at Highline could be covered more by insurance. I originally had an appointment for surgery for my hand but after a couple months of therapy, the orthopedic surgeon said I was progressing so well that I didn't need surgery. It has taken a few months but with the hand therapy work that Beverly did with me at Highline, I am now able to resume everything that I was doing before. It's not quite 100% but I think I will soon get there. I can play the piano again and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to. I am so glad to have gone to Highline Hand Therapy. Beverly was excellent at explaining things and answering all my questions, asking me the right questions to make sure she knew what to focus on, and choosing the things to work on that would give me the most benefit. From this, I believe I was able to get the great results that I did. I have to say I was pretty good about doing the exercises she showed me which of course is important too, but as far as providing care, I think I probably got the best I could find at Highline Hand Therapy. read more

Since I was unable to find a hand therapist in Federal Way, I did my research and then went to Highline Hand Therapy in Burien. I have nothing but praise for this place. All of the people there are friendly, professional and very competent. I had my first appointment in March, but then cancelled all of my next appointments when the governor said to stay home. Despite that, my therapist communicated with me by email when I had a question about the home exercises she had given me. When I felt comfortable going back in May my therapist began treating both my hand and shoulder injuries. I am very happy with this place. read more

Terrible service. They scheduled an appt for me at the wrong time when I was going there. I showed them my appt verification and they said there was nothing they could do. Admitted fault and wasted my time. Then they never sent a bill to me, but threatened to take me to collections. Sent emails about collecting money from a gmail account with typos and no signature. Also didnt list any way of paying the bill in the communication. Avoid at all costs. read more

I went to Highline because it was a closest hand therapy clinic to my residence. It was a great choice! I had a bad injury to my elbow that required surgery, that replaced radial head with an implant. Injury name "terrible-triad" is the name. (doesnt sound so faithful). Doctors at Harbor view said i would never be able to turn my wrist palm up. Well my faith was restored when i went to Highline. There are many therapists to choose from! Recommend trying all of them because many have different strengths in different areas! I ended up looked forward to therapy every time, because i was seeing results in my motion. Everyone gave good tips for therapy at home. Professional! No complaints! I have been happy with my outcome, and guess what i can turn my palm up! read more

Un-flexible hours, and forget it if you mention you don't have insurance or a referral.. (because frankly i'm not confused and know its my hand that hurts).. so making an appt to see my regular Dr is a pretty pointless, wasteful use of my time and resources, when id be then told to see a HAND SPECIALIST. Stop with the middle man, and remember why you are (supposed) to be in the medical field. TO HELP. read more

I have had a completely different experience than the other reviewers--I love this place. I've returned here three times in the last 10 years. Twice for help with carpal tunnel, and most recently after a serious wrist injury. The staff is great, helpful and listen to your concerns and questions. I wouldn't go anywhere else and have recommended their services to friends for years. read more

These people are crooks! I went here because I was having pregnancy related carpal tunnel. Before I did anything with them, Lynn said she'd call my insurance and make sure I was covered. I thought that was so nice of her. She let me know I was covered and so we agreed to start treatment. Fast forward to 4 months later, I get a bill in the mail for $504 for two sessions where all they did is stick my hand in a bowl of warm rice. I called and asked how can this be since she told me my insurance covered everything and the snotty woman just said "well you signed something saying you'd pay" which I don't recall but you know how they always throw a million things at you to sign. I told her that I was promised my care would be covered by insurance and that they scammed me into agreeing to get therapy that did nothing for me because they assured me my insurance took care of it. She essentially said "well too bad, we'll just take you to collections". Awful company that didn't do anything to cure my carpal tunnel. I ended up going to get a cortisone shot. Do the same. Cheaper, much more ethical and a whole lot more effective. These people will tell you your insurance covers it and then send you a bill for the whole thing. Completely unethical! read more

Surprised at the other negative comments. My experience was absolutely fantastic. I had therapy for a crushed pinkie, and was treated very well. My primary OT took the time to walk me through each exercise so I understood the purpose. Everyone there was warm and welcoming. I saw 2 other OT's also and they were both great. They were all very professional, informative, patient, and compassionate. I was always seen on time, and scheduling was smooth. When you have to do OT, it can be frustrating and sometimes emotional. The OT's at Highline Hand helped me through that process, encouraged me, and I am very happy with my long term result. read more

I was sent to Highline Hand for a capacity test. The therapist I saw forced me to complete testing even when she knew it went beyond my capacity. On one test at the start of the day it was a cylinder filled with water with a dowel at the bottom and I was asked to put my hand and arm down into the bottom of the container and put the dowel at the bottom of the container between my middle and ring finger. When my arm started shaking so badly that it was displacing the water, I was told to stop shaking as I was displacing the water. I was told to remain seated to complete the test. I had to raise myself up off the chair to complete the test. At the end of the day the therapist wanted to repeat this test to see if the arm got smaller with use. On this repeat of the test, the arm started shaking again and I was unable to do the test and the therapist physically pulled my arm and shoulder away from my body and took both of her hands and with the weight of her body, she forcefully pushed my elbow down into the container. She became angry as the arm was shaking so badly that I could not get the dowel between the middle and ring finger. It took repeated attempts to accomplish this and all the while I was trying to raise myself off the chair and was told to remain seated. In her report the therapist stated that the arm actually got smaller with use. I guess she forgot that the first test splashed water out of the container. Throughout the day it was a nightmare for me. When I wanted to stop a test I was threatened with "don't stop or we will have to start over". I felt bullied and ashamed that I let someone treat me this way. I drove from Eastern WA for this apt and driving back home the vibrations from the car made the shoulder ache so bad that when I got home I sent this therapist a letter about what happened at this capacity test and how I was in pain from her pulling and twisting my arm, not letting me stop a test and I told her that the next time a patient couldn't complete a test on their own or wanted to stop a test that she should just let the testing fall where it was. This was all before she had even completed her report and sent it to LNI. With the heads up this therapist was able to tailor her report before she sent it to LNI. She denied forcing my arm and shoulder, denied threatening me with having to start over it I stopped a test and stated that she told me I could stop a test anytime I felt uncomfortable. Stay away from this place and don't let your doctor refer you here for a capacity test. You have a choice. Use it wisely. If you are forced to go take a witness with you. Twanda read more
