Warning! Don't be fooled by the friendliness of this clinic. If you miss your appointment even for the first time, they'll gouge you. And take note, this clinic doesn't discourage patient/client to come in even when you are sick. So, if you visit this clinic and got sick, more likely someone was contagious and you got the virus from someone in the clinic. Here's my experience. I had a massage appointment on Monday, December 4, 2023. Sunday the night before, I got very sick with high fever (103-104 F), chills and body aches. Of course there was no way I could've cancelled it within 24 hours. So, I called the clinic on Monday (day of my appt) to cancel explaining I am very sick and have all these symptoms. The office manager/receptionist said she would cancel, without mentioning I would be charged a $90 fee, which is $31 higher than the insurance allowable amount! I reached out to the clinic via and requested a copy of my signed agreement regarding the cancellation fee and also said I have proof from my doctor that I was very ill (I went to see my doctor on Tuesday). They didn't send it and instead, the owner (Leshaw) replied "On December 1st we raised the no show fee from $50 to $90 and posted it at the front desk. We are not required to have patients sign a document when we raise rates or fees." The office manager who I spoke to, didn't have the decency to tell me they increased their cancellation fee to $90 as of December 1st nor told me she can cancel my appt but I will be charged the fee. How in the world would I know that if I have never been in the clinic since December 1st? I thought I was doing them a favor for not coming in. I didn't want to be responsible for getting anyone sick if I had come in. But the office manager clearly stated that they can't tell anyone to come if they are sick nor they will turn anyone away for coming in sick. What kind of healthy care facility would do this? They obviously don't care about the well-being of their staff nor their patients/clients. The worse part is, my insurance would've paid them $59 if I went. But instead, I paid $90 out of pocket. I've never missed appointments and even referred my husband to them. I called around and other clinics would only charge $25 for first missed appointments. There are many good chiropractors in the area. Don't waste your time on this one. read more

There's so much intentionality in this clinic and as a healthcare provider myself I love this. Dr. Leshaw's strength and precision with adjustments is unmatched! My husband and I have both seen her for awhile now and she's helped us through low back pain, postpartum pelvic/back tension and overall wellness. Kelly's massage work and Addy's rehab exercise appointments compliment our care with Dr. Leshaw really well. We love having all of these services in one place - where the providers work together seamlessly. The positive and results-oriented vibe of this clinic is the best. My first appointment I received an evaluation and X-rays. I was in a lot of discomfort and pain. After listening to Leshaw tell me all about herself for 20-30 minutes she told me she wanted to have someone look at the x-rays before providing an adjustment. I made an appointment for Monday. We reviewed the X-rays. After 30 minutes, as I'm squirming in discomfort in my chair, I began to wonder if I was going to get an adjustment. That's when Leshaw begins telling me I need to 'sign up' for 24 visits, come in three times a week, and see some other person for PT? Or, if I didn't want to book 24 appointments, I could do 12! Unless I sign up for 12 or 24 visits she will not provide any chiropractic treatment. I was never told by ANYONE I'd be REQUIRED to come in for 12 or 24 visits to receive treatment. This should have been made clear up front before I paid $240 for the initial intake and waited all weekend for my Monday appointment. I felt belittled for not wanting to 'sign-up for their package deal'. She recommended I go to some other place, "That doesn't even require an initial intake. You can just walk in and get an adjustment." I was so upset I can't remember the name of the place she recommended. Clearly she thinks they are hacks and if I don't go along with her package deal I don't care about my health enough to deserve to be treated by her. Now I have to start over, find another Chiropractor that doesn't surprise clients by demanding they commit to program of care a patient may or may not need. AND.... No adjustment! This is a deceptive business practice. On top of it all, Leshaw told me that reception should have informed me about these treatment plans would be required upon my first visit. LATER she admitted that todays appt. was the 'normal' time these treatment 'plans' were presented to patients. I don't usually write negative reviews, but when you mess with someone who is in pain and discomfort and pull a stunt like this I have to warn others! Tldr: My experience with Nicole Leshaw was, simply put, atrociously bad. She and her office showed ongoing incompetence, lack of good faith and either lie like hell or are terribly confused. More than a full year after my last visit, Leshaw (who is in-network with UHC, my health insurance) sent me a bill for "2 denied claims" for a combined amount of $305. After a lot of research time and attempts to fix their mistakes, I found out that the first 'denied' claim had already been paid out and Leshaw's office had been reading the statement wrong all along for a mind-boggling 18 months. The second claim had been denied because her office didn't file correctly. UHC communicated to Leshaw by letter that it was her office's fault and that the patient could not be held responsible; UHC even explicitly told Leshaw she was not allowed to bill the patient (I attached the letter to this review). Leshaw kept this information from me and sent me the bill nonetheless. She lied to UHC and said I had signed a 'waiver' by filling out her New Patient Forms. She went through all this trouble for an amount of ... $305 -after Leshaw had already cashed in almost $4,000 from my insurance for my visits!-. Long Review: I saw Leshaw 2-3 times a week from September 2020 to December 2020. Nicole Leshaw is in-network with my health insurance, UHC. As per the participation agreement with UHC, Leshaw is obligated to file the claims and is responsible for them. After receiving frequent treatment for 3 months, I decided to stop coming: despite the 2-3 visits per week, I was not seeing any significant improvements. I personally did not like Leshaw's bedside manners and found her attitude authoritarian and borderline bullish. Nicole showed irritation when I reported no significant improvement during the treatment. On top of that, my visits to Nicole Leshaw were the quickest chiropractic visits I have ever experienced: she sees multiple patients simultaneously in the same room, and when she gets busy, you might get 1-2 minutes of treatment per visit at most. Additionally, before I started the treatment, Nicole said that I would be able to notice improvement in my X-Ray back imagery after 3 months. When, after 3 months, I asked when we'd be taking new X-ray to see that improvement she promised, she changed her narrative and said that it would take 12 months for me to see results in the X-Ray images. Bait and Switch. Leshaw's office has some serious difficulties filing claims: about a third of the claims that they filed for my visits had to be filed more than once. Leshaw's office was unsuccessful in filing and appealing one of those claims: UHC sent Leshaw a letter (see attached) explicitly stating that the claim was denied because of missing medical records. That same letter also explained to Leshaw that she was NOT allowed to bill the patient. Leshaw kept this information from me, and a full year after my last visit, she sent me a bill for $305 (later to mysteriously increase to $325). Despite the explicit communication Leshaw received from UHC, they hid the letter from me, lied over and over again, and said I was responsible. Leshaw even went on to state that she 'files claims as a courtesy' (see attached). That's not true, she is obligated as per her participation agreement with UHC. When UHC called Leshaw's office to enquire why they were sending me a bill that they shouldn't, Leshaw's office lied to UHC and told them that I had signed 'a waiver' by completing her New Patient Forms. The second 'denied' claim that Leshaw wanted me to pay for had already been paid out long ago. Leshaw and her office kept pushing back and insisting I had to pay out-of-pocket for the 'denied' claim. 18 months after my last visit and after making me waste hours dealing with their incompetence, Leshaw's office finally relented and admitted they didn't know how to read a statement and that they made a mistake. See the attached document. I am still perplexed that Nicole Leshaw would choose to go to such lengths to collect $305 one year after my last visit; after all, she had already cashed in $3,783.63 from my insurance. It is regrettable that she conducts business in this way. First, Leshaw's office needs to get their act together to file claims and learn to read statements. And second, as per her Participation Agreement with UHC, Leshaw needs to accept that she is responsible for in-network claims that are denied because she and her office don't file properly. If Leshaw believes that UHC is unfairly denying her claims, she needs to take it up against UHC, but instead she chose to be a bully and go after the patient. Nicole clearly thinks her Participation Agreement with UHC and other rules do not apply to her and that she is above any of that. read more

Weird experience here- I went in for back pain and had a consultation and follow up appointment where I was told that I needed to prepay for services up front to treat a featured vertebrae. I felt a bit odd with the customer service provided so I chose to self manage my diagnosed compression fracture. Months later my back pain flared up again and this time I decided to go to my GP. I got a second opinion and was told I had a slipped disk, rather than a fractured L5 vertebrae as I had previously been told. Maybe my spine changed between the two visits but after the odd interaction at Optimal Wellness, I can definitely say I won't be back. read more

So many issues! First a bogus bill, it took 2 months to resolve. Their 1 hour massages are only 35 minutes. But what scares me is how unprofessional they act! Nicole was late for the appointment most of the time and at least 30 minutes! So then of course, that leaves about 1 minute per patient after that. I'm not much of a complainer, and as a business owner I understand the importance of positive reviews. With that said I would be remiss to not share this experience. I have been seeing Kelly the massage therapist over the last couple weeks and she was amazing (wish I could rate her separately!) I was feeling much better until a few over-active days left me with sharp debilitating pain in my lower back. The receptionist was nice enough to get me in same day! Anytime before 2pm I was told. Although there was an issue with my insurance and they felt I needed to pay for my previous massages in full prior to making an appointment with the chiropractor. Odd, but understandable I suppose. I had my significant other call with my insurance information and all was well. I was told to show up a bit early to fill out paper work as the receptionist couldn't find my file. I arrived approximately 15 mins early as requested only to find the doors locked, stating they would return at 2pm. Normally not a big deal, but the condition of my back made it tremendously painful to enter and exit my vehicle. I waited in my car. Eventually the chiropractor joined me in the exam room. As we went through her list of question (most of which were covered in the paper work I showed up early to fill out) she seamed almost angry at my presence. Asking on multiple occasions why I wasn't returning to my previous chiropractor. (I work in Seatac. He is located in the university district) By the end of our conversation, it seamed pretty clear that I was not wanted as a client. I have never in my life been spoken down to in this way by anyone who would represent themselves as a professional. This however did not prevent her from taking the "mandatory" x-rays. After briskly running her hand down my spine and exclaiming there was several issues to address I was told to head up front. I was under the impression she was going to review the x-rays and address some of the aforementioned issues with my back. Nope. I was left with the receptionist who explained they had one available slot the following Friday, or Monday would be the earliest to get me in. A bit bewildered and still in pain, I choose the Monday option. But wait! I still need to pay for my massages prior to making a new appointment. Now half as much as previously requested, but still more than double my normal copay. When I questioned why is was more than my copay has previously been, I was told "that's what the computer says it should be. If you have an issue, you need to call you insurance yourself." So I did. As I stood in the lobby, still in pain. Listening to the chiropractor that was too busy to help me talk on the phone, I reached a very polite representative at my insurance company. I was told that nothing has changed and my copay was still $15. Furthermore, if there was a billing issue the office should contact them directly and they would be more than happy to help them through it. So here I sit, having wasted several hours of my already overbooked day. Still in pain. Out money for x-rays that won't be utilized. Still in need of a quality local chiropractor. And worst of all, I no longer feel comfortable visiting a truly great massage therapist. read more

And she told me that she would call me to inform my co-pay for the bill but never happened so I called her she said I need to the insurance company to figure out. read more

Overpriced. Over rated. They are in it for the money. They require you to do exercises before putting you on a moving table...there is a charge for the exercises and a charge for them to put you on the table and turn it on. Then afterwards they want to put tape on your neck or whatever body part is causing trouble, there is a charge for that. Insurance only covers so much, but if you have two insurance policies they will charge both and it still won't be enough to cover the bill. read more

The staff is family friendly and great with patients of all ages. I like to think of her as more of a wholistic chiropractor, not JUST worried about the spine, but all of the muscles in the back and how they work together. I got a bogus bill today for services I never received. I have never been to this clinic!!!

I have been coming to this clinic for over 10 years, and have received wonderful massages from Kelly. However I've had a recent interaction with Dr Leshaw regarding a massage bill from 11 months ago. To my best knowledge I have never left Optimal without paying. I received a bill 3 weeks ago for $80, called the billing office And was told the payment was waived. I then assumed I presented a gift card at the time of service and thought nothing of it. However I received another bill this week stating I still owed $80. I called the office and spoke with Dr. LeShaw. She could not explain why I was told previously the payment was waived. She just reiterated I had not paid for the service nearly a year ago. She admitted that there had been issues with their billing office and she "doesn't really keep track of the massages" so the office was working at catching up. I Explained that I had never received a bill until a few weeks ago. I would expect that if I had owed money to the office I would've received a bill last year or within 30 days of service.As a health care provider myself, if a patient called without receiving a bill and had been told the payment was waived- I would have taken responsibilty the issue was from our office - and cleared the balance. I have referred many friends and patients to this office - however I will no longer do that. I am really disappointed in the unprofessional manner in which Dr. Leshaw handled this billing issue. read more

I discovered Dr. Brian and Optimal Health at the Burien Strawberry Festival this past year. He told me what I may be experience a few weeks later if I continued to not get treatment for my injuries from the auto accident that I was in a few months prior. I remembered what he said but waited those few weeks. He was perfectly correct. Every single symptom happened. So I went in. He has been helping me ever since. I now feel better than I have in years. Between his treatments and teaching for how I can care for my back and neck, I feel like my life is back on track. I actually feel like I have been in a time capsule because I feel so much younger. It feels so great to be fully alive again! Dr. Brian knows his stuff. He is caring about your individual situation and dedicated to making you well. His staff is friendly and equally kind. I feel so privileged to have found Dr. Brian. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to live pain free and healthy without medicines and surgeries. The only thing I received from the hospital's E.R. the night of the accident was an x-ray, 3 prescriptions for heavy duty pain pills, and was told I had whiplash and a back injury. The hospital told me if I didn't feel better in 3 days to contact my primary care physician. Dr Brian went beyond masking symptoms. He made me well again! he can do it for you too. Ok to be serious I may have had a pain moment of like 13 on a scale of 1-10 and I may have denied myself going to the ER and prescription pain management in favor of trying anything else to avoid going... but she listened and it may not have taken on day one, but on day two of my pain decreased to the point I was bouncing along again at a manageable pain level. She wrote me a referal for an MRI... SIGH I called to make an appointment even though I want to avoid it... This is an okay place to get an adjustment or massage. My low rating is due to their overpricing and billing- and extremely frustrating lack of communication. My family of 5 was going here for a while. We had been paying a monthly payment that was to cover above our insurance estimate. Our insurance changed, and management changed- and I inquired twice to ask if what we were paying was covering the difference and I was assured it would work out fine. What we didn't know then, is that they were charging us extra since they got new tables that move. Every time we lay down and it is turned on, we get charged. We also get charged for exercises that we have to do. They do nothing for this- we just sit in a chair and move our hips. But it's billed as physical therapy. We were shocked when we received a huge bill. They let this big bill run up without advising us and while assuring us it was all fine. To their credit, they did negotiate payment of the bill down a generous amount. They gave us an item by item account of the charges, and I found that my daughter had been charged for physical therapy- but she had never done the exercises. I asked how long she had been charged for PT that she wasn't doing- and was first told that it was a mistake for just a few times and that those had been removed. Then I was told that, well, the moving table was considered PT, so.... yeah. We immediately stopped going there. We paid off the entire balance. Then, months later we received outstanding bills for 3 of us. We tried to get an answer about that and never really did. The billing person/s wouldn't call us back. We didn't understand why we were being billed again. We wrote twice asking for explanation- but there was none. We just decided to pay them anyway to protect our credit- though very unhappy about it. We asked for confirmation that we didn't owe anything else- something showing our zero balance. They sent us papers with those 3 names showing zero balance. So we're all done, right? Nope. About 4 months later... we just got a bill for our son- who was not in the original 3 being billed. We were pretty upset- as we made it very clear we wanted to clear our account a long time ago. My husband called. Left a message. They never called him back. I rarely write reviews- especially bad ones. This was just such a horrible experience. The billing department is incompetent to say the least. If you decide to go here, be sure to keep track of every penny. Ask for an account of every charge with every visit. There are plenty of other good chiropractors out there though. My advice is to go somewhere else. read more

Surgery is your only option! Not what I wanted to hear! A friend of mine recommended Dr. Leshaw so I went hoping for the best AND I got the best. No surgery for me after all so lots of heartfelt thanks to Dr. Leshaw and her wonderful staff. I went from the scale of pain (1-10) of a nine and now I am down to a four in just a couple months. Dr. Brian has been truly a gift to both myself and my husband. I was looking at needing a rod on my spine, had a bad hip, extreme nerve damage and trouble walking and bending the first day I went in and met him. After my first adjustment I was feeling better than I had in years and now 4 months later, I am doing better and living with almost no pain and very little nerve damage left in my body. I went to multiple specialists and doctors, been through almost every diagnostic test out there and stuffed with pills for over 3 years. He's not only fixed the problem, but he's given me a better quality of life in a few months than I ever got in the 3 years I was being treated by these other doctors who just wanted to throw pills at the problem. I have had scoliosis for some time now, and when I was pregnant with my first child in 2010 my body had the hardest time adjusting..my OB gave me a referral over to Optimal Health to get prenatal massages to help with the pain. Soon after getting my first massage I was given a free exam consultation with awesome Dr. Brian and from then on started getting adjustments twice a week every week up until I gave birth. It was amazing, and the whole staff is incredible. Even after I gave birth he did a free adjustment on my little one as he had a pretty rough delivery. Did I mention they always sent bday cards (with free massage certificate) and an adorable card when my baby was born? They're so sweet and they always remember you when you come in. Its insanely hard to find a good chiropractor, since leaving Washington I have been to multiple chiropractors and physical therapists and never got the relief and comfort I got from Optimal Health. I seriously wish I was back in Washington now for my second pregnancy so I could go to Dr. Brian, yoga just is not cutting it and there are no good chiropractors (that I've found yet) in Hawaii. read more
