Now I can understand why after my recent experience pulling my father's car out of a parking space and having the rear bumper collide with a low profile metal railing. The bumper became loose and I immediately called Glenndale Auto on a Friday at noon. They let me bring the car in, secured the bumper back and removed some paint from a prior incidence with the side wall to the garage door while I waited! They said it was complimentary so we could continue to drive the car until the bumper could be scheduled for replacement. Extremely honest and went above and beyond to help a loyal customer. They had my car 4 days and just did front brakes and an oil change. I called Monday and said I must have my car back today. When they finished it I received a call to come get my car when would I be there to pick it up. Several years ago the front end of one of our cars was damaged when someone backed into us. It was repaired at a collision shop in Annapolis, but the left front fender panel was not properly secured to the body and kept coming loose. I just tapped it back into place each time, but over time it got worse so I looked into getting it repaired properly. I took it back to the body shop that did the original work, and they gave me an estimate of $300+, much more than I wanted to spend. So last week I headed to Chinquapin Round Rd. area where there are at least 3 collision shops. I stopped first at Severn Auto Body-Chinquapin. I hesitated because it's a big facility with a huge parking area, which I assumed would entail paperwork, bureaucracy, and higher costs. But the totally unexpected happened - as I explained to the desk rep that I was looking for an inexpensive practical fix for a loose fender, regional manager Todd Chilcote overhead me, introduced himself, and offered to take a look. He then asked for the keys and said he'd be back in 10 minutes, and he was! The fender was securely fastened again, and when I asked him how much for the service, he said it's FREE! Can you believe?! Now I'm sure that virtually all other vehicles serviced at this body shop need formal estimates and repairs are not free ... but it's nice to know that a senior manager is willing to find practical, simple solutions for their customers. I was getting the runaround from the dealership (yet again) and enduring poor quality work from other stations....finally got fed up and brought my car here (for the tire repair mentioned below), after remembering how nice Navy, the cashier and owner's wife, had always been when I bought gas... College Park Auto Service quickly fixed my tire on the spot (which the dealership said I needed to have replaced, as well as all my other tires...I had replaced all four tires about a year ago...I mean, really?!!) College Park Auto also quickly repaired a right turn signal light which had been acting up for over a year (and which both the dealership and other auto repair places had not been able to figure out...) My right turn signal is now working normally, after a simple and inexpensive fix by College Park Auto---YAY!!! Thank goodness for this place, and for the awesome and humble mechanics here, especially Tek (and Navy is super funny and friendly)....This is my go-to place from now on for all my car maintenance and repairs (except body work, which they don't do).... I am always surprised by the number of new model and high priced luxury cars that are brought into the shop. When I bought my new used car a few years ago I brought it in for the once over and would only finalize the purchase after this shop said it looked good. Over 200k miles later, outside of minor things, I have only needed brakes and a starter over the years. More than a decade ago I had an estimate given for a repair from another shop for a drivetrain differential issue (big trouble and huge dollars). I was told by AAMCO that the issue required an entire new differential system ($2500)!! On a recommendation from a friend, I took the car to Hi Tech and the owner, Mr. Long Ho, after assessing the issue realized all that was needed was a shift solenoid which cost only $50.....installed!!! From that day on Long Ho is the only person to work on my vehicle. He does it all, even auto electric. He even allows you to bring in parts that you buy online or from an auto parts store like Advance Auto or Pep Boys. Because I like high performance ceramic brake pads and drilled rotors, I bring in my own brake components and he installs them no issue for the same fixed price. The shop is all by itself on the outskirts of what was once the glorious Landover Mall. The Mall was demolished about 10 years ago but Long Ho and his shop in the parking lot remained. It is on an island all by itself, but still thriving because he is honest and low priced. It is hard scrabble but do not let the looks deceive you. It you want the glitz and free coffee from dealerships, this is not the place for you. If you want an honest estimate of your car's issue at a low price, done in an efficient amount of time....this is the place. The waiting room is sparse and the restroom is super basic so plan on dropping off and not waiting there unless it is something minor that will take an hour or two. The words "honest mechanic" and "low price auto repair" are the most important words here. Disregard the hard scrabble, Spartan surroundings. Trust Long Ho, he and his crew are fair and honest and those words are worthy of five stars.

Brad excused himself and momentarily returned with a cohort, spray bottle and clean white cloth, which they carefully applied all along the mark. It took a bit of scrubbing, but the mark disappeared! Brad could have taken the car in, merely cleaned it with his magic potion, kept it for however many days, presented it to me as "repaired" and charged me a tidy sum--which I'd have happily paid, delighted that the car looked like new.
