We had a really good experience at this HTB in Mill Valley unlike the one in San Anselmo. The burrito's we received were spot on in flavor and were well portioned this time. We almost gave up on them again after the experience we had at their San Anselmo location (super small portioned burrito - almost child size) but decided to give the brand another chance. Glad we did. The only bummer at this location is the lack of interior seating. The day we visited it was raining pretty hard outside and all of the tables were taken inside. We waited a bit and final got a table. All good. read more

I have been eating here - I believe more than 15 years. Ever since my children were in afternoon organized sports we ate here after their games. They are grown adults now. The food has steadily gone down. When I order a steak burrito, I get a tortilla filled with rice and beans with very little steak. This happens regularly, so not a one or twice thing. Mistakes happen. Of coarse, when you have a food allergy, mistakes can be scary. We called ahead to order a family dinner, mentioned a serious food allergy (avocado) that one of our family members has. We requested a grilled chicken burrito with sour cream but importantly, stressed it be without guacamole, and said multiple times that this was a serious food allergy, so it was critical the burrito not have any avocado. We picked up dinner and again asked (before the long drive home) about the avocado and mentioned the allergy, because mistakes happen, and in our case the reaction is very serious. It was confirmed directly with the kitchen --no avocado. "Yes, of coarse!" Then we got home and (I know you see this one coming from a mile away) we cut into that burrito (so we don't end up like that scene in Pulp Fiction) and sure enough, lots and lots of avocado. If you are running a spy agency and need to off an agent from a foreign rogue nation, maybe. But if you are one of those unlucky folks, like us, who have to carry around an epi pen, just avoid this place. Don't come here. Those who were able to eat dinner found the food about a two to three. Healthy Mexican food, their value proposition, for us, translated into under seasoned. On the plus side, the fish tacos were a-okay. On the low end, we found the burritos extremely bland. (Adding cumin, garlic, lime juice, salt and a Bay leaf, would not add fat, so IMO the beans could be improved.) For those who couldn't eat at for that meal (we had one non-eater) we are rolling in a massive negative number, which all averages out to one lone star. (In writing this, I'm noticing another Yelper with a similar avocado allergy mishap at this location in the last 30 days, who unfortunately ate the stuff. Yikes. Come on guys!) read more

We went to eat there yesterday after our hike at Mt. Tam - Worst service ever! No eye contact, no smile. It looked like everyone there hated being there, especially the order taker. And to top it off, my boyfriend got FOOD POISONING. How do I know it was there? Because I made us lunch and we shared it! The only thing we ate differently was when we went to High Tech Burrito. It's a shame because their food was actually good flavorful. My boyfriend was throwing up the whole night, at least 4 different times. He stated he immediately felt something wrong right after we ate it. We shook it off as a hot day and we hiked but the throwing up did it. Be careful! This is a long time favorite of ours that still offers tasty and generally healthy Mexican influenced burritos and bowls is not as good as it was ten years ago, but still offers more interesting and tastier quick meals than your average similar healthier food place.. To be clear, this is not traditional Mexican food, or even typical California Mexican influenced food and never was. There's not much sour cream or gooey cheeses in the burritos or bowls, and many have none. It's generally heart healthier and lower in calories than the traditional stuff. But they have always made up for the lack of those tasty but not so great for you fats with really good flavors and plenty of guacamole. And yet we rate it four stars instead of five because they've cut back on the more interesting tasting stuff such as garlic sauces with their once outstanding tofu burrito no longer offered. But their surf and turf burrito or bowl is still really good and filling. Though some of their options have skimpier portions these days. We probably wouldn't come here for sushi but they do offer it now with a limited selection, it's not bad. So that's an option for some people who want to eat light healthy food. Overall still a place with plenty of above average choices for people who want tasty quick and pretty healthy food that's good for takeout or for eating outdoors which doesn't cost way too much, noting they have heat lamps for outdoor seating this time of year. read more

I ordered a chicken super quesadilla, which has peppers, lettuce, and tomato inside. I got a chicken and cheese quesadilla with a wet scoop of lettuce on top. It almost seemed like a prank. I've had my up and down experiences with high tech burrito since they opened in strawberry. Of course it's all personal preference, but I really love my burritos to pack a lot of flavor and HTB has always fallen short there for me. Over the years, I return every so often, bc the price is right, the location is convenient for me and especially now with their free delivery it's super convenient! Last weekend we ordered 3 burritos for delivery. All 3 arrived exactly as ordered! ... and honestly, it was definitely the best burrito I've had from them since they opened. Great flavor, nice spice, all the topping options ... my only issue was that it was a surf n turf, and there were very few shrimp. I understand that shrimp costs more, but I think the price should be adjusted to cover it so that there's actually some shrimp throughout. Overall, it was a good experience. Delivery is efficient, punctual, well packaged. The food arrived quickly and hot. My one suggestion would be for them to please add more shrimp to the surf n turf (even if it costs a bit more) .... or to the buyer, if you're after a good shrimp burrito, I'd go with another protein option. read more

Love this place in the Strawberry Village. Burritos that are served are healthy as can be in this establishment. My go-to burrito is either the surf and turf or the tofu burrito. Don't ask me why, I'm just a big fan of it. Anyways, I've brought my wife a couple times and now she's asking me if we could drive to Marin for a bite at HTB. Ordering is simple and easy, and the staff is wonderful. I like their outdoor seating where I can sit with my pup and enjoy all the hot sauce under the warmth of the sun. Haven't eaten here in a long time and after my recent visit this week, I realized there was a reason I never stopped in. First, I was mad about the price. My salad with chicken served in a plastic bowl ended up costing almost $12. Second, there was sort of enough chicken, but not enough dressing and 90% of my salad was lettuce with huge serving of raw onion (like A LOT of raw onion) and a smattering of other ingredients. So $12 for a bowl of lettuce basically. If I want to spend $12 on a salad, a nice table with wait staff and a glass of water would be worth it. But a to go salad for $12? I just started coming back to High Tech Burrito at both locations in Marin last year. The problem I had in the past was that there wasn't any consistency in how a burrito was prepared, even within the same location and I ordered the exact same thing every time in both locations. It was too frustrating because some burritos were amazing and others were quite lacking. So I just gave up 5 years ago. I decided to try HTB again last year and the burritos at both locations were amazing from order to order. It became my go to meal whenever I ate out/picked up food. Well just this week I ordered my regular burrito and the taste was flat. There was nothing that really stood out in the taste where as before, every bite was vibrant and so tasty. Well the recipe was changed for my favorite Thai Peanut burrito and it's such a bummer. The burrito used to be amazing and now it's just okay. Instead of looking forward to having the Thai Peanut burrito whenever I could get to a location near me, I'm now thinking it would be nice to have once in awhile but it's not anything special. It's no longer something I look forward to having. I've been told the changes to the recipe come from the chef at headquarters and the local chefs have no control over it. So this review is for whomever is at headquarters. Please don't ruin a great thing and just make it okay. It wasn't broken so there was no need to change it just for the sake of changing it. I write this in hope that you will revert back to the recipe before you changed and leave it alone. This used to be my favorite treat and go to option whenever possible. I guess I'll be saving some money now. Also, it would be helpful if Corporate Headquarters gave people a way to contact them directly. read more

I tried to order food from this place Sunday evening. Two minutes before the time my food was supposed to have been delivered to me I suddenly saw that my order had been canceled, without any explanation. No one called me or sent me any type of message. All I had ordered was a simple chicken quesadilla with a side of chips & salsa! An hour later I receive notification that the restaurant didn't have the ingredients to fulfill my order. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Someone should have told me that maybe a few minutes after I placed my order, not over half an hour later. Thanks for leaving me without dinner. I was stuck at work and couldn't leave the building but you couldn't even be bothered to let me know what the issue was or offer to substitute anything else. I have been eating at hi tech burrito for twenty years. In the last few months I've noticed a change in quality . The owners changed and probably didn't keep the high standard that they used to have to cut costs. The burritos are smaller than they used to be and more expensive. The meat always has gristle which basically ruins the meal. Unfortunately I will not be eating at my old favorite local burrito spot for a while until the quality can be addressed. It is not quite as good as some of the other taquerias out there, but it deserves just as high of a rating because they do cater towards specific tastes and healthier options. Ordered on Uber Eats Good: The California was quite good!!! Pretty good price on it too. The super burrito was yummy but I wish it had more of a kick or some salsa on the side. The refried beans are yummy! Bad: We said no lettus on any of our food and they didnt read our instructions and that was annoying. Got the basic grilled chicken burrito for $8. It was terrible - dry, bland with absolutely no extras - for those you need to pay more. With Grilly's on the other side of the freeway and World Wraps one exit north off the freeeway I can't imagine why anyone would eat here. Never again. read more

On the menu board they have a section called "Healthy Grill" and, alongside those choices they provide the calorie count. All other items on the menu? No calorie count which means you don't even want to know. So, they guilt-tripped me into a healthy "grilled steak fiesta" specialty salad ($6.95, 380 calories). I swapped out the dressing for some pico de gallo and hot salsa and found the whole thing pretty tasty. The beef was good, with no fat at all. The salad was quite tasty; I'd make a return trip for it. I would have liked more of it, but I imagine that would push it into a non-healthy choice. Quick, tasty food and they have small outdoor tables that are probably okay for your dog to join you at. I'll be back. read more

I went there today after a long drive and ordered the shrimp bowl. Instead I got a burrito. I told the staff I didn't order a burrito, I ordered a shrimp bowl. They said everything was burritos! Unbelievable! So what they did was they opened up the burrito and put the contents in a bowl. I've seen dog food that looked better. I got my money back and went over to McDonald's and got a big Mac. You really have a problem with your employees. Used to love coming here, but after this past Sunday's visit, never again. My wife and I ordered our burrito's, then the cashier repeated back our order and called out every ingredient in the the burrito, beans, rice, cilantro etc. I noticed he missed a few ingredients, so I told him I believe there's onions and squash in there according to the menu, so he began punching in something on the monitor in front of him. I told him we want our burritos just how they are on the menu above my head, easy I thought. Then he read back our order, again missing ingredients. I offered to take a photo of the burrito on the menu two feet above my head and show it to him, he declined. When the receipt was printed, it for some reason it showed all the ingredients, which did not match up with what was on the menu. My wife had the same issue with her order, just frustrating. At Olive Garden do you have to ask for carrot slices, cabbage slices, tomatoes, croutons, and olives in the salad?? No, you just order the salad, I'd lose my mind if every restaurant was like this past HTB experience. We like this place for reliable burritos. My husband says the Cabo Supreme is the closest thing he's found around here that comes close to the burritos in had in San Diego in college. I usually get the chicken burrito and it's good. Very large and lots of chicken and beans. They're very fast and have an online order form for pick up. Got a grass fed burrito today. Asked for the pick on the side as I don't like onions. Asked for a lot if cilantro. Ok I get it home and it is full of onions. I didn't see any cilantro at all. The steaks texture was cheery and the I felt something hard in my mouth. I thought perhaps a small bone. Nope..small piece of GLASS. So I called and spoke to the manager. I'm a chef and I know things happen. First he was defensive saying they don't use glass. Well I told him I was calling so they could be very careful. He did offer me another burrito.
