Short story it was dirty, there were uncovered wires and the staff was disrespectful I recently stayed there as part of a wedding on the property. We checked in at 3, the allowed time, and they were still cleaning and planting flowers which was strange but understandable. Two hours later I go to get in the pool and the two cleaners are soaking in the pool, I wait 30 minutes and then go out and they leave but also left a pool vacuum in the pool and bags of dirt out and a lingering smell of pot. The room we stayed in had a sticky plastic lid and toys in it which made me worry it hadn't been cleaned correctly, and most of the blankets had stains. Each person was given 1 Walmart towel and hand towel and a wash cloth which didn't seem like enough and again the cleanliness was questionable. The next day before others arrived the cleaners returned and the lower level started smelling of a mix of sewage and pot. As others arrived we found more trash pushed under beds and the loft bedroom was missing one of the covers for a switch leaving exposed wires. As for the wedding itself there were no signs telling people where to park or go which caused people to get lost or have to move their vehicles. The staff didn't assist with parking in the limited space and the groom ended up doing so - I also heard them tell the groom to get people out of the house so he ended up having to leave the dinner to clear the house despite there being no signs stating where guests not staying on site could and couldn't go and Shayne (the person who checked people in) saying to use the space like our own house. We are currently having a big issue with this place. We have been in contact since September about booking our wedding and renting the whole house for gathering. Now that it's a month away, we receive no call backs, no answers to questions, no confirmations. If Shane or Lane answer their phone they continually run circles around one another with every excuse or that they will get back to you by the end of the day. It doesn't happen. I have sent in my contract with all the information. No confirmation from anybody. This is a big problem as we have a house full of people showing up. I'm so disappointed. I'm the bride and really shouldn't have to deal with bad customer service. I don't know what to do. It is so rude and unprofessional. read more

Everything was perfect, from the minute we got there, from the welcome to a private custom 4 course sous-vide steak dinner paired with delicious wines, to the beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the Vista, the Jacuzzi, and the fluffy Japanese pancake breakfast the next day! We stayed that their vacation cottage, Hacienda Sueños, just down the road. Everything was clean and well kept. We loved the custom indoor shuffleboard! There are some newly added things since the last time we went, like a new deck and jacuzzi and a brand new outdoor bar area. Shayne, the owner, gave us an amazing and knowledgeable tour of both properties and showed us their new catering kitchen and veranda. What an amazing place! If you like enchanted escapes either with hour whole family or just with a your significant other, you can do no better in Paso than High Ridge or Hacienda Sueńos. read more

Myself and a couple of friends from out of town booked Hacienda at High Ridge Manor for 3 days. The house is beautiful, very clean and has some amazing views. Outside it offers a large in ground pool, hot tub/spa and plenty of room to BBQ. Our host Lisa was very attentive to us, making sure we enjoyed our stay. Checking in and out was a breeze. It was a great experience overall. Our only complaint was that we had to leave. But we will definately be back. read more

DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE. TERRIBLE PROPERTY OWNERS. After booking this venue almost 1 year in advance for our wedding, the Property owner decided to cancel our reservation 6 weeks out without any prior warning. After trying to cordially call and find a way to make this work with the property owners, they were never available to speak with me and made a lame excuse about double booking the venue across some of the chosen dates we had originally booked and paid for 6 months in advance. If you're looking to plan event using this property, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There are way better options in the area at more affordable prices. The also use fake names for their employees like "John Smith" to skirt around being hassled. Save yourselves the heart break and take your hard earned money else where. read more

I stayed at HRM with a group of friends and we were so well taken care of! The owners and house team are beyond friendly and accommodating. They made us feel at home right away. The views are spectacular and the rooms were so roomy and cozy. I loved the soaking tub, shower and fireplace in my room. It is disheartening for me to only award two stars to this establishment. Is this a B & B, an Airbnb, a business in search of an identity, or what? After reading the positive reviews on both yelp and tripadvisor I made a commitment to stay here for two nights. However, I hadn't realized that there is new ownership, and with that comes a change in operation, and one that is not consistent with the usual B & B experience. Also, most of the reviewers have a very short history submitting only a few reviews. This business doesn't know what it wants to be...it's a B & B, an Airbnb, an investment, rent for hire. We arrived late afternoon, and the property manager was there to greet us. This was a weird and poor reception. Not a hello, nor welcome, glad to see you...nothing. After settling in and unpacking, we had wine and cheese at 5pm with the property manager in the upstairs kitchen which was totally uninspiring. A few slices of two cheese, dry toasts with a tomato salsa, and the most basic, least expensive wine offering from a local winery (about $10/bottle). After a 22 minute ride to town (BTW, when I booked the room with the new owner, I had been advised it was a couple of miles and 5-10 minutes away!!!), we had dinner, and returned only to then realize the Wi-Fi was not functioning. The tv in our room was also not functioning. We had been all set to spend the evening in our room watching tv and emailing, etc, but no joy!!! The next morning I awoke to have to find the ingredients to make coffee. Nothing was prepared at 7:45, and no one was in sight. We ventured back up at 9am for the "full chef's breakfast". Another disappointment, as we were served muffins, a vegetable quiche, and coffee. I had to ask for juice, and ask for fruit which was then provided. The person attending to us was yet another hired staff member, which turned out to be the owner's son's girlfriend. We did not partake of the wine and cheese offering the second night (the 1st night was enough), and breakfast the 2nd day were crepes w preserves, muffins and a side of fruit. Coffee was prepared this morning and available for me at my requested 7am. Apparently the new owner doesn't actually live or operate hands-on at this facility, or if he does it's only part-time. Everything is by hired hands. The accommodation in the rooms are nice (thus the two stars and not one), and yet there is an absence of warmth or hospitality. An interesting side note...in all my years of travel, staying at all sorts of places (B & B's, Inn's, etc), I have NEVER seen a line item for gratuity for a guest to fill on the final bill. Summary: What a shame. If you are planning any kind of event, RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE It's a beautiful property with so much potential and it is going to be run into the ground by Lane and his "staff," which is made up of family members and probably friends with seemingly zero organization and experience in the industry. It's like putting lipstick on a pig. Just in case this detail is lost in my long review: A "wedding planner" was hired for my wedding through HRM and I was wondering why she was subpar and unprofessional during my event--- we learned that she was not a wedding planner until a few months prior to my event. She's an ex-police officer, being charged by the Los Angeles DA for multiple counts of insurance fraud and perjury. It gets worse- she was let go without pay, the investigation was done by her own PD and charges were brought to the LA DA; that's how you know it's bad. All public information. I'll be nice and not provide her full name but big oof. More detail of why you should RUN FAR AWAY: We expressed interest in HRM back in Feb 2021, went to visit in mid-March 2021, and booked for our wedding event and stay by March 25, 2021. The event was set for 10/21-10/24. The March visit was full of pleasantries, essentially Lane selling us their fairytale: their amazing menu potential, the amazing view and amenities, the luxury options without the luxury price tag. The visit included him telling us "I make more money when I rent individual rooms, so you're really getting a great deal." This wouldn't be the last time that we would hear that phrase. At the time, we were so mesmerized by his sales pitch that we ignored it. In the next few months, I planned other aspects of my wedding, which required info that only the venue could provide, so by Summer 2021, I was making calls. Some to Lane and also to the general property's number, which would sometimes be answered by Lane and sometimes by his son, Shane. Lane would say he would get back to me, then never call back. Shane would say "I'll check with Lane," but 90% of the time, he would not call back. I was exhausted of the poor communication and did some digging on previous weddings at the property (through another social media site). I found two couples and asked them & their wedding planners' experience with HRM. They told me some variation of "it's a real bummer, the property is beautiful but they're impossible to get ahold of" & "they do not follow-through on promises & they are a nightmare to work with in general." I should have heeded those warnings back in summer of 2021, but I tried to convince myself that these were isolated incidents; maybe the property has improved. I couldn't have been more wrong. The next year & my actual wedding weekend was filled with a lot of the same. Poor communication, me having to call/email multiple times, asking for a contract or any kind of pricing for MONTHS before the wedding so that we had an idea of the cost. We were finally sent invoices for the event & given barely 3 days to pay in full when they were the ones taking awful amounts of time to draw up invoices. Fast forward to the wedding weekend. On Friday before the wedding, we finally met Angie in person and all seemed fine. The team at HRM seemed stressed planning the wedding layout. I brought a bunch of bar items/decor items and asked where these should be stored; I was told to keep them in the house and staff would take care of them on Saturday. Summary of the wedding day: -staff was late, disorganized, confused the entire day, which was recognized by guests and by me, the bride. -the planner was rude to guests -later in the night, she spoke poorly of me, which was in ear-shot of my guests. This was also caught on video recording. -received a $1200 invoice at 1am the night of my wedding for "staff overtime" which included a complaint that they had to carry decor items from the house to the event area (an issue I tried to resolve the day prior). The property was beautiful and well maintained, the rooms were spacious and comphy, the view was like every picture you'll find of wine country, and most of all, the hosts were great. Meridy, Shane, and Lane (owner) are exceptional hosts. We only stayed for one night but had an amazing time. Originally we were going to have dinner in town but after talking to Lane, we decided to stay in and have dinner with the other guests, which was amazing...wine, Steak, chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, spinach, and chocolate lava cake, with a twist! We rented this entire home for my bachelorette party and it was INCREDIBLE! The rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious and clean. It was the perfect place to spend the weekend with my closest girlfriends. Conveniently located next to several local wineries, it was so easy to rent a party bus and spent one of the days wine tasting. And can we just talk about the host? He was incredibly accommodating, very communicative and was easily accessible for any questions or assistance we needed. We added the meal option and had a delicious taco lunch complete with a dessert of the most incredible brownie cups. All in all, we all had a fabulous time and I had the perfect weekend. I was feeling stressed and needed to get away for a few nights on a personal retreat. There is simply no downside to High Ridge Manor. It's easy to find. The view of the rolling hills is stunning from every vantage point. The owner and hostess created such a warm friendly environment it didn't feel weird that I was there alone amidst all the couples. In fact, I'd say they went above and beyond for all the guests. My suite had a private entrance, was clean and gorgeous with a big jacuzzi tub, fireplace, and comfy bed. The pool and outdoor jacuzzi were great. I got to feed the sheep and chickens. I saw dear and horses on my walks. I played a lot of pool in the dedicated billiard room. This would be the perfect place to write a book and I plan on going back to do so. It should go without saying that this is a perfect romantic getaway but it also made an amazing personal retreat. read more

My husband and I booked this place at random to spend a couple of days away from it all for Valentine's Day. We were not disappointed. In fact, we loved it so much we asked to stay for an extra night and extended our trip. I could tell you all about the amazing amenities, the comfortable beds and the really cool hang out spot complete with PAC MAN and Pool Table - but you can find out about those details on the website. The selling point for this place is the experience AND the views!! They are not kidding about this place having the best views in Paso Robles. It's close proximity to a lot of exceptional wineries and if you never leave this place you will still feel like you had a thorough and relaxing vacation. They have good wine, gourmet breakfast/afternoon hors d'oeuvres and an atmosphere of fun and intellectual conversation that you just don't find at your typical B&B. It is more of a resort than a B&B. I particularly loved the cuddly sheep that live on the grounds. Meridy, the property manager and the owner, Lane, go above and beyond to make everyones stay awesome. This was our first experience staying in a B & B and it did not disappoint! In fact the bar has been set high! The property was beautiful and Meridy went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. The rooms were spacious and clean with their own private bath. We loved the view from the deck that over looked the endless acres of rolling hills. One morning we enjoyed our coffee out front watching the sheep on the property as the sun came up through the trees. There are so many peaceful sitting areas around the property to enjoy. We were celebrating our anniversary and after a day of wine tasting Meridy arranged for a local private chef (Michael) to cook for us as well as another couple that was staying at the house. Our whole stay at High Ridge Manor was spectacular! On-site chef Michael Patrick Kelly made us fresh and fabulous breakfasts, and a fantastic dinner last night! It was so nice to return from a day of wine tasting, take a nap and then have a beautiful and delicious dinner by candle light on the patio with a view of the valley.. it was so relaxed and perfect, and only cost what we would have paid at a restaurant in Paso Robles. The owner and Randi, the house manager, went out of their way to make this special, too, treating us like VIP's. There had been a wedding there before we arrived, and in the guest book the bride had written that it exceeded even what they hoped for! We were celebrating our anniversary and my birthday, and every aspect of our stay was perfect! We will be back! read more

Lane, the proprietor of this otherwise beautiful property, desperately needs a class in management, organizational skills and to learn how important it is to respect other people's time. Throughout our experience with him, we found ourselves absolutely shocked that he's able to keep his doors open. He's a mind-numbingly unreliable and stunningly irresponsible guy. After we drove up from Ventura to visit the property we made arrangements to meet with him. It's a good thing we called him because he basically forgot about the meeting. Fortunately, he was in the vicinity so we waited 20 minutes and he finally showed up. We discussed renting his manor and have him cater three events on the property. After spending about an hour and a half, we agreed on securing the property, discussed the catering menu at length as well as pricing before walking away with a handshake and a promise from him to email us a draft to review so we could move forward with our planning. He never sent it. Several months later we reached out to him again, having not heard from him, as we had concerns about locking in the dates for our event. He assured us we're definitely locked in but added that he misplaced his notes on the menu and pricing, so we embarked on spending another hour of our time rediscussing the catering menu and pricing and walked away with yet another promise that we'll receive an emailed summary and contract in the next two days. A few weeks went by again without receiving the information he promised and...you got it...after initiating the third call to him we learned to our dismay that he not only forgot to send the documents, but he claimed he lost the paperwork again. Eyes rolling, we foolishly spent another hour rehashing the same rental details, catering menu, and pricing with his word that he'll send us the paperwork and a contract the next day. You can imagine in our frustration we decided to look for anohter place, but it wasn't without the unnecessary stress and unwarranted anxiety we experienced during the several months we spent trying to book Lane's place. It was a maddening experience we went through with him. As you know, booking anything in advance isn't always easy, especially during a pandemic where everything's getting booked and you come to rely on agreements. You contact these properties assuming they operate in good faith and with a sense of professionalism and mutual respect for one another's time. Don't waste your time with this clown. Seriously. Lane is grossly unprofessional, a mesmerizingly unreliable proprietor, and both disrespectful of and oblivious to the value of other people's time. Yes, the property is great, but Lane left us with an indelible sour taste in our mouths and flabbergasted at how this guy can call himself a businessman with a straight face. read more

I had a wedding/family trip at HRM and I'll start off by saying the venue itself is gorgeous and is an awesome space to accommodate multiple groups traveling together. The hosts were super friendly, nice and relaxed and we had an amazing time during our stay. That being said, I HIGHLY recommend booking through Airbnb. I agreed to pay some charges outside of Airbnb based on their recommendation that it would save me money on the app's fees. Unfortunately, it didn't dawn on me that that meant I was forfeiting Airbnb protections and it ended up costing me a lot of money. At the start of the trip I agreed to pay a fee of $450 to have the swimming pool heated for the duration of the trip. However, after several texts back and forth between the hosts, we never did manage to get the pool heated the entire time. I made the mistake of leaving my Airbnb review before checking what charges were made to my bank account. To my surprise I was still charged $450 for the pool heat, even though it never worked. I contacted both Lane and Shane separately to ask if I could be refunded and neither of them ever replied to me. I can't help but feel like I was taken advantage of and I hate that such an awesome trip had to end on such a sour note. My family had all three of their properties booked and they made thousands of dollars off of us that week so I hoped I would at least get a response back. PLEASE book through Airbnb so that if something like this happens to you, you are protected. read more

Got married here and my now-wife was stressed during the entire planning because of the owner, Lane. Very disorganized. Terrible communication. I had fun at my wedding but they sent us a huge bill for overtime staff because of their own shortcomings with organization and efficiency. We paid it because we don't want to have to deal with them for an extra second of our lives. They have a nice spot, but they slap a bandaid on issues and think it'll be fine. That's not sustainable. It was a little slice of heaven and Lane and very personal and super accommodating.
