Not the best birthday cake ice cream I have had (I ate a lot of ice cream this summer), but a solid rendition. We…read morestumbled upon this little gem completely by accident while visiting the Natural History Museum, and honestly? Best accidental discovery of my entire trip to Denver. This tiny, adorable hole-in-the-wall shop is everything you want in a neighborhood ice cream spot -- warm, welcoming, unpretentious, and run by two of the most genuinely lovely women I've ever encountered in the food service industry. From the moment our group of six walked in, we felt like we'd been coming here for years. They were patient, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about every single thing they make. Now let me talk about the ICE CREAM, because wow. Six people, multiple flavors between us, and not one single complaint -- which if you know my family, is basically a miracle. Everything was rich, creamy, and tasted completely homemade in the best possible way. But the thing that absolutely sent me over the edge? BANANA PUDDING. Multiple banana pudding options. I grew up in the South and I have been low-key grieving the lack of banana pudding culture everywhere else I've lived, and here it is -- in Denver, Colorado -- done absolutely right. I may have embarrassed myself slightly. No regrets. This is a Black woman-owned business and these two have built something truly special. It's family-friendly, it's joyful, and it has that rare quality of feeling like a place that was made with real love. If you're anywhere near the museum, you would be genuinely doing yourself a disservice to walk past this place. Go in. Get the banana pudding. Thank me later.

It has the great luxury for this neighborhood of a private parking lot, also shared with Goudy's. Getting here is a little tricky. If you're going west on Alameda you can turn right directly into the lot by the big Goudy's/Starbucks sign. Going north on Downing you turn right at the first driveway past Alameda, then turn right again at the rear of the building. There are two sections of outdoor seating, facing Alameda and facing the parking lot. The interior has a long, narrow communial high-top plus some quiet, secluded seating along the hallway to the restroom. I've been able to find parking in the small lot during my visits. Most Expensive Yogurt Ever…read more I'm from Southern California, one of the most expensive places in the country, so I'm no stranger to high prices. But even by Southern California standards, my experience at Yogurt Yum was absolutely shocking. Two small cups of frozen yogurt came out to $27.02. Let that sink in. Twenty-seven dollars... for yogurt. To make matters worse, the yogurt itself was average at best. Nothing special, nothing memorable, certainly nothing that would remotely justify a price tag like that. It tasted like the same frozen yogurt you can get at dozens of other places for a fraction of the cost. What really made the experience worse was the fact that there were no tasting cups available. Most frozen yogurt shops allow customers to try flavors before committing, especially when you're paying by weight. Here, you're expected to just guess and hope you like what you pick, while the price quietly climbs into the stratosphere. Again, I come from Southern California. I've been to plenty of frozen yogurt shops in places where rent, labor, and everything else is expensive. Never in my life have I paid $27 for two small yogurts. Needless to say, NEVER again will I buy yogurt from here. Buyer beware... you can't say you weren't warned.
