We just had one of the best contracting experiences in the 40 years in our home. On October 16,…read more2019, we contracted Kyle Electric to install the wiring for a portable generator both inside and outside our home. Their electrician named Jack, had grown up with electrical knowledge gained in his family. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and efficient. The entire experience rates an A +. I also understand professional electricians are expensive especially on weekends. HOWEVER, my daughter and future son-in-law bought their first home, in Carroll Co. They briefly lost power one evening. A week later lost power again BEFORE a storm on a Saturday afternoon. By Sunday morning still no power. Could not reach anyone at the power company to confirm it was a power outage. ALL surrounding neighbors had power. So being in the home only 2 weeks and as first time home buyers, they worried there may be an issue with the electrical in the house so called Tim Kyle electric. They sent our 2 people. Who quickly assessed the issues was a power outage from Potomac Edison. Quick service call right? Wrong, they proceeded to write up an estimate for a very expensive generator and charged them $600 for the 10 minutes it took to figure out there was no power coming into the house!!!!!!!!! Oh, and that was with a first responders discount! Just to tell them it was an issue with the power company! Despicable. It was a Sunday morning in June, not like it was Christmas Day. I will let everyone I know in Carroll Co. know about how they took advantage of young first time home owners. Eventually this business approach will catch up to them and ruin their questionable 5 Star google reviews. I think every parent can put themselves in my shoes and would be appalled as well.

My experience with Honest Jason began on Oct. 28, 2024, when I contacted him about replacing a…read moreleaking condensate return line on my boiler. First delay was caused by the "supply house" not ordering the part on time. following replacement of the leaking pipe, Jason decided that the boiler needed re-wiring after the repair and suddenly my flue damper needs replaced. Second delay because the supply house again screwed up the order, so it was an additional week before the damper was replaced. Finally got that done on Nov. 26. He was also supposed to service the 14 radiators in my home. Fast forward to Dec. 2 when he said he could get to the radiators. Canceled and said he would be there on Dec. 4. Fast forward to Feb. 5 when he said he would do the radiator service for free since he made and broke multiple appointment for 2.5 months and that he would be here on Wednesday that week. Of course, over the next several weeks he did not show up for more appointments, sometimes with no call or notice. On Mar. 19 after multiple broken appointments, he sends me a text telling me the real reason he didn't show up for 4 months was because he had some bigger jobs and I wasn't a priority. When I called out his lying, Honest Jason protested his honesty and went on to prove his honesty by texting my wife that he ABSOLUTLEY could be there at 9:30 AM on Mar. 21. Of course, Honest Jason didn't show up and ignored my wife's repeated text and voice messages. In the meantime, I still have 8 out of 14 radiators in my house that do warm up and have been waiting for a refund check that he promised to mail out on Mar. 19. But Honest Jason thinks I should be thankful that the boiler come on at all. EDIT: According to Honest Jason, I should have known on Dec. 5th when he cancelled the first time, that he had no intention of servicing my radiators and I should have called someone else to do it. I guess believing that he would show up for the 20 appointments he made AFTER Dec. 5 was kind of dumb on my part. Should have realized he was lying.

The inspector said the other two were beyond their normal useful life but still worked. What we didn't expect was that we couldn't get the property insured unless we agreed to replace all three heating and cooling systems within a month! We scrambled to find a good HVAC company that could do the job for us. Enter Design Flow Heating and Cooling. Working closely with us, they recommended three cost-effective heat pumps. They then removed and disposed of all the old systems and installed the new ones well within the thirty-day limit. But once we moved in, we discovered the upstairs wasn't being cooled uniformly, and in fact the previous owner had blocked the vents in some places in an attempt to balance it. The pros at Design Flow diagnosed the problems promptly and installed new ducts and returns to draw the hot ceiling air away from areas where the temperature was too high. It made such a difference! I recommend Design Flow Heating & Cooling without reservation!

Rather than just look at a couple of things and then say everything was shot, he continued to troubleshoot for over an hour before coming to that conclusion. I got a couple different quotes from companies I had had work done before, but Design Flow was cheaper, by far. This isn't always a good thing. Some people will say that you get what you pay for. I feel like I got so much more than what I paid for. At a minimum, you only have to look at the pictures to see the quality and care of the work they did. More than the quality, they were quick. The team was just here Friday, but they were in by 7 and out shortly after lunch. Very impressive. Now I have a brand new unit that is much more efficient than my previous unit so I shouldn't need much HVAC work in the future, but if I do, I know that I'm not going to be shopping around. I only have one call to make.
