If you need a place to chill and get some work done without it being super busy, this is the place to be. They also have a kid play area. The maple pecan plait was amazing! Love that it was warmed up. Only knocking down to 4/5 because on their website and from a friend I was told they had breakfast sandwiches and they didn't unfortunately at the time. And their menu wasn't updated so they only had a few pastries and I came in wanting the sandwich. I also heard they have open mic nights too! Can't wait to check that out. Black owned!

This community coffeehouse is located in the South City neighborhood walking distance from "The…read moreGrand Strip" as I'd like to call it. Parking is limited to only street parking which is also near residential areas. I was meeting a friend there and it was his recommendation and near his home. He raved about it and upon entry, I understood why. When you walk up the stairs to this coffeehouse, it is like walking into a place of refuge. You are hit in the face immediately with the lovely smells of incense and you are greeted by every single worker there with "Welcome Home, Family!" You will not get those vibes at Starbucks or any other local coffee shop. I have yet to be greeted like that, ever! My friend is posted on the couches which let me tell you are SUPER DUPER comfy. I don't know what this place used to be, but it gave me furniture storeroom vibes but with the comfort of home, community, culture and belonging. I felt every piece of this coffeehouse spoke to anyone who entered. The art on the walls seemed carefully curated to create a vibe while creating an unspoken message. I felt safe here. I felt seen here. I fell deep into conversation with my friend and was checked on several times by the cook Big Ash to make sure I was good and if I needed anything. Rae, was working the register with a smile and Lil Ash, the barista helped me choose a great latte. I chose the Sunset Latte, a seasonal flavor of theirs after seeing my friend down his coffee. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich to go after getting whiffs of his meal. We talked for probably 2 hours before going our separate ways but Big Ash, the cook showed me around the coffeehouse first since it was my first time there. They have a library room with banned books and sections that pay homage to Asian and Latin culture as well. I felt like I was in a literal history book while indulging in lovely conversation over an iced latte for the summer day. I was so bummed to step outside. I felt like a vampire exposed to the sun. It was cozy inside with natural light and relaxing overhead and lamp lights inside. When I got home and ate my breakfast sandwich, it was like having a Denver omelet tucked beautifully between a butter croissant. The sauteed onions and bell peppers were just the right balance. I think that is probably my first time having something like it and it won't be my last!

The space itself is nice a bright, very open with super friendly staff. They have local artist work on the walls for sale which is really cool. I recommend checking it out!

The place was packed because it was national coffee day, but the staff were friendly and our orders were still accurate. I loved that the syrups were made in house. I've had the matcha latte here before that I want to mention that I'd probably skip out on. I much prefer their coffees over the matcha. Otherwise they have a rotating menu and decent food options. There were still places to sit inside (both upstairs and on the main floor) and outside. The parking garage was kind of hard to navigate because it's really dark in there. But there's still the two parking lots outside that you can utilize.

When I arrived, I found parking in their lot easily and then walked inside to review the drink menu and pastry case. I needed to think through my drink order for a bit since I wanted to try something different. After ordering, I found a table to sit at and logged into my computer using their wifi and started working on emails for a bit. Once my drink order was ready, she called my name and I walked to the counter to pick it up. Super friendly staff! It is such a cute coffee shop with a bit of retail to explore too. I visited the "Cheltenham" location a few weeks ago, so you could say I'm a grizzled veteran as far…read moreas Comet Coffee patrons are concerned. I've seen it all at this point: the limited, not particularly comfortable seating; the highway robbery pricing; the disturbingly tasty croissants. As was the case with my previous visit, I was there with a local running group, albeit not the same group. We met there, went for a nice run and then immediately undermined any progress we may have made with sugary drinks and baked goods, as one does. We met at a little before 8 AM on a Sunday. The store hadn't opened yet. Already, there were people lined up as if they were neurodivergent middle-aged men waiting to buy Pokemon cards at a Target so they could resell them on the Internet, as a career. I'd suggest that maybe people are buying the baked goods here and attempting to resell them, but I don't know that you could charge more than they already charge and not risk being assaulted, as a matter of principle. It's a testament to the sheer quality of these items that I purchased another one, having yet to fully recover from the one I purchased a few weeks ago. As a result, I'm gonna have to have a talk with my accountant, and trust me, it's not going to be comfortable. When I was at the one across the street from Forest Park, I had my eye on a pistachio croissant, and then the lady in line ahead of me ordered the last one that they had. There was almost an incident. I was fully prepared to pull an Ike Turner, if I had to. Fortunately, they still had at least one left when it was my turn to order. To think, I might have committed an assault for something more mid than I'd imagined it being, like a guy with an ugly wife who's nevertheless weirdly possessive. Last time, I ended up just going with the plain croissant, and I think I kinda prefer it. With the sweet, ostensibly pistachio-based topping, it's more along the lines of a donut. You don't taste the croissant as much, nor did the topping strike me as being particularly pistachio-esque. It was still delicious, and for $7, it had better been. I was wearing a quarter-zip, so I figured I might order an iced matcha latte with honey and whole milk. It's all part of my becoming a more respectable, productive member of society. As was the case with the croissant, it was really good for what it was. It mostly tasted like a slightly sweet glass of milk, with only the faintest hint of green tea--which I realize is just how these things taste. No Diddy. The thing is, I loave, lurve, luff milk. I'm like those guys in A Clockwork Orange. I like nothing more than to have a nice cold glass of milk and then go kick over a wastebasket. It's probably for the best that I had this drink after my run.
