Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of high/low. I sometimes go there once in a while to get a breakfast item or to get a nice coffee. First issue that I have with this place. I do agree with this establishment's art mission. But, I find their policy very contradictory to the mission. Apparently, it's a literary and film art establishment. They have books there and they have art films they display. The books seem to be for display purposes only. You can't borrow them or take them home to read. I've never heard of a cafe with a library that prohibits their patrons from borrowing the books. It's almost unheard of but this is the standard at high/low. Also, the service there is obscenely slow. It took them about 15 minutes to churn out a breakfast sandwich and an orange cardamom latte. When I unwrapped the sandwich the first thing I saw was how it was poorly wrapped and made. If you like a southwest breakfast sandwich this may be for you. But it wasn't a good sandwich for me. The bell pepper taste was overpowering and there was hardly any sausage in the egg scramble. Also the orange cardamom latte was so small. Total amount that I paid was well over $16 for the beverage and a poorly made breakfast sandwich. I don't think I will be going back there. read more

Came here after a run with the crew and this was a great spot!! It was very spacious and loved the interior. The service was really nice and since it was my first time there they helped me pick out which pastry item to try. Such an awesome spot! I love stopping here between meetings and grabbing a coffee, it's also a great place to work and get some tasks done. I came here before a meeting across the street to take a call and grab some coffee to go. There's a good amount of seating, both comfy and table style. Needed a birthday coffee and I am glad I stumbled upon high low. Everything you want in a coffee shop High Low is/has. They have music playing, but it is quiet for folks studying or those trying to converse. The space has loads of natural light with a wildly calming ambience. Perfect for getting work done. They have shelves and shelves of great reads... even with a board game or 2. The workers were great. It was early on a Sunday do the space was still pretty empty. I got a to go latte so I was perusing the boom shelves. The barista delivered my latte over to me instead of just leaving it on the table, a beautiful gesture. This is absolutely a space for all. I occasionally like to visit Hi Low because I love the intimate atmosphere of this coffee shop. There are long tables with outlets readily available, along with high top seating along the floor to ceiling windows. I enjoy studying here, as it has a calm atmosphere on the inside. The vibe itself is hipster yet eclectic. There is also an art gallery nestled in the heart of the establishment. The gallery is run by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation Visual Art Program and showcases works from a diverse range of artists in the St. Louis community. The coffee and lattes themselves are wonderful! Definitely some of the best coffee in St. Louis. Today, I ordered the airplane latte, which incorporates a Biscoff flavor. My sweet treat is anything with cookie butter, so I had to order this drink! This drink did not disappoint. It was creamy and smooth notes of caramel, in addition to subtle hints of Biscoff. I worried that it was going to be too sweet, but the latte was perfectly balanced. The team at High Low is chill. The coffee comes out within 5-10 minutes, and there is a water faucet available to fill your bottles yourself (a touch I always love). I love that it's a work/study coffee shop so you can come to enjoy by yourself or with other friends. There is plenty natural sunlight for you in the store. Their drinks and pastries seem very good with reasonable price. I tried the seasonal fruit shrubs and it was really refreshing. They also have an interesting menu for coffee. Blueprint is one of my favorite coffee spots in St. Louis and I was excited to try this new location. Located in midtown near SLU, it feels more like a cozy library rather than a coffee spot. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed! We struggled to find a spot to sit and enjoy our coffee and pastries. The coffee was on par with Blueprint's high standards. I would say it's perfect for students and those who WFH because there are large shared tables, plenty of natural sunlight, and fast WiFi. The coffee servers, I wouldn't dare call thembaristas, know little about their beans or the brewing process. This charming little gem is located in the Kranzberg Arts Foundation building, close to Grand Center and St. Louis University. It's definitely a spot you want to spend some time in, curled up with a good book (or you could borrow one of theirs!) or working "from home". Easily the coolest coffee shop I have been to in St. Louis. They have large tables perfect for studying or working with extension cords beneath the tables to charge laptops. The walls are lined with aesthetically pleasing books. The Blueprint espresso is probably my favorite of all time - especially in their iced vanilla latte. At High Low, I tried the Blueprint seasonal gingerbread latte, which was also delicious. It was citrus-y and spicy, a great combo with the espresso and oat milk. Just behind the coffee bar, there is an art gallery - a hidden treasure. There is also an event space just past the art gallery. There is plenty of street parking out front, although it is paid parking. I don't imagine finding a spot would ever be too difficult. Definitely check High Low out! read more

Definitely my new favorite study spot. High Low is a quaint coffee spot tucked away on Wash Ave in Midtown. Spent about 3 hours in the 'Low' portion of the building getting some work done. The barista took my wife's coffee order and then brought me an ice water without me asking as I was not having coffee that day. Very thoughtful. The ambiance for studying is fantastic and the large windows let in tons of natural light. There is a space upstairs ('High') for up and coming poets and writers to collaborate. There are even poetry readings from time to time. All in all, will definitely be back when I have a free afternoon and need to get work done. read more
