We must have spent an hour browsing and we probably still missed some stuff. The staff was great. We were greeted as soon as we entered. He also made sure we didn't need anything while we shopped. He was very attentive. When we found something in the case we wanted he was quick to come over. The contents of the store was extensive. They had trading cards of all sorts, comics, funko pops, lots of sports merchandise, and old and new toys. So much stuff I probably missed a lot. Their signed collectibles come with letters of authenticity. Also their prices seem very fair and reasonable. We will definitely be going back!

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the décor is absolutely stunning. I've eaten at Mexican restaurants all over the country, and I honestly haven't seen another one quite like this. Stoney River was a disappointing lunch experience last Sunday. My two Sorority Sisters and I had a…read more1:00 lunch reservation and the reservation was easy to make and(via resy.com) the hostesses at the hostess stand were all professional and very friendly! Cheyenne was our server and she did a good job! She was friendly, professional and knowledgeable! Cheyenne brought us complimentary biscuits and butter (or maybe another type of sauce) that my Sisters said were delicious! They were extra fluffy and baked correctly. We three shared the Steak Egg Rolls that were actually really good, very creamy and rich, and unique. I did not try the sauce/sauces that came with them. They were served at the correct temperature and a nice, rich appetizer that I would recommend! Sister #1 ordered the "Stoney River Breakfast Skillet" which was attractively plated in a skillet and appeared to be the correct temperature and her eggs were cooked to her liking. She was off put by the cheddar cheese that topped the skillet off - it looked very artificial (meaning bright orange yellow) and as if, instead of cheese, the egg yolks were sort of sitting atop the skillet. She's not a huge complainer and she finished the skillet. Sister #2 ordered the shrimp and grits, described as "...Cajun sauteed shrimp, Worcestershire cream reduction, bacon, cheese grits." The plate looked nice; however she said the shrimp were "beyond rubbery and more of the texture of shoe leather." I kept encouraging her to send it back and order something else and she said she said she was "hungry and it is edible." She did say the grits were excellent. Sister #1 and I tasted the sauce of the shrimp and grits and both of us found it very "tomato flavor forward and oddly sweet." Christine's lunch was a disappointment. Also, she should have sent the dish back, in my opinion, I'm sure Stoney River would have made it right. I got the small filet, I think it was seven ounces, cooked medium rare with asparagus. You get one side with this dish which is fine. The steak, once again, was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly with no need to add any salt/pepper and it was nicely seared! The steak was delicious! We had wine, which was good, too! We did not get dessert and were offered more "biscuits" to go (which seemed odd to me, it was like 2:30 in a very hot afternoon and I wasn't interested in carting biscuits around in a hot car); however, it was a thoughtful gesture. Last comment I have is no fault of Stoney River's, it's a "Clift Farms" thing, at least the Development Fee is Clift Farms specific, I don't know the "wine tax" fee. I really dislike fees. My $200.00+ bill included a three percent "development fee" of $5.58, a "Wine Tax" of $4.18 (I've never seen that before, what is a wine tax?) and regular "Sales Tax" of $6.36. Thank you for the friendly professional service and the extremely clean, comfortable in-person restaurant dining experience!

When I looked at the menu days prior, I was eyeing the shrimp and grits, but after seeing nearby tables entrees, I quickly ordered the ribeye. Our server, Jesstina was off the wall spectacular! Our appetizer came out quick, and our main course came out soon after we were done enjoying our appetizers. She made sure our every need was taken care of, and her attitude was as if we were her long time friends. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary of 23 years, and the dining experience was perfect! Spectacular service, an outstanding food selection and a 10 out of 10! The mild dishes were still rich and flavorful, while the "Indian hot" options had the right amount of heat--definitely a kick, but in the best way. Even the kids cleaned their plates, which says a lot. To top it off, we had pistachio ice cream for dessert, and it was out. of. this. world. I ordered the Rogan Josh--my personal favorite--and was impressed by the generous portions and the large, tender chunks of meat. The waiter laughed and said "ok!" When it came, the Vindaloo had great flavor and not a bit of heat ... for the fourth time. I would not advise anyone to rent this space. This Air BnB is owned by High Ground Hobbies which sits directly above the property which we had rented for one night. I had also hired one of the employees of High Ground Hobbies to lead us on a 4 hour Dungeons and Dragons campaign for the evening. The reservation was made in late January 2024, now 8 months later, (September 7,2024) We arrived to check in at 3:00 pm only to be surprised by another family that was in already checked into the AirBnB we had rented. I showed my receipt to the person on duty at High Ground and explained that this was a Wedding Gift, for my son, sort of like a Batchelor party to do some gaming and it was supposed to be a surprise. Most of the party was coming from Nashville and one person all the way from Indiana. The desk worker called the owner of the AirBnB and he said "we would have to leave and this was a former employee's fault" It sounded like he blamed someone who was no longer there anymore conveniently like a scape goat. We were refunded the AirBnB with cash, mostly small bills, as for the employee I had hired for the campaign, she only wanted to give me half of what she owed me until I had to look back on text messages and showed her where I venmo'd her all of the money. IT was only then that she agreed to refund me. Gross incompetence when taking a reservation 8 months in advance and then losing it and just saying "you have to leave" is completely unprofessional! We had to find a hotel room in a pinch and I was no longer able to surprise my son, and it added a ton of stress and more money I had to put out, to what was supposed to be an awesome, well-planned night. I cannot stress enough, DO NOT book with them. Also, I'm sure the other family didn't appreciate some strangers walking in on them while they were on their vacation. Be careful with this shady operation. If it happened to me, if can happen to you. read more

My absolute FAVORITE gaming/hobby shop! The staff is always welcoming, friendly and helpful (which will come as a pleasant surprise especially for female customers of other gamer shops). I love how much work they've put into building a great community of gamers, geeks, and hobbyists! They've got events going on nearly every day, from casual gaming, to epic tournaments, to fun, free, and family-friendly miniature paint nights. The cafe is a fantastic place to grab a bite and hang out, and the selection of paints, tools, accessories and games is FANTASTIC. There's even a section of the store dedicated to merch from local vendors & artists! This place is the prime example of how every gaming & hobby shop SHOULD be run. read more

High Ground is a truly unique option amongst a variety of geek store options in the Huntsville metro area. Tabletop games, TCGs, miniature painting, a restaurant AND themed rooms to rent. Our favorite activity is the paint nights. For a small fee, the shop provides everything you need to dip your toes into the world of miniature painting. Most recently, my wife won us a stay at their latest themed room, Vault 256. For a while, I was eating there twice a week due to board game night and D&D night and I never got tired of the food. Any of the pizza themed options are great, and I love the Baseball Bat (PB&J panini). My kiddo loves the pretzel sticks. Aside from the food, they have a great selection of D&D stuff and TCGs. I huge selection of miniatures and Citadel paint. Warhammer stuff too, and some board games and other nerdy stuff like dice, jewelry, candles, etc. They have a growing selection of board games to play for free while you're there. And a large calendar of different events. I'm partial to board game nights on the first and third Mondays each month, but I also want to try some of the D&D one-shots. I'm also looking forward to Daggerheart events once that is out. Aside from the great selection of merchandise, they all seem to be really great people. I love spending time there. Great place!

I love all nerdy things and had pinned Current on my to-try collection a while back. It's a little easy to miss driving around, but my GPS got me there. Parking is pretty limited -- the business next door had to ask some people to move because they'd created a spot behind the worker's truck, lol -- but I had a lovely experience once I found my way inside! They have a pretty large menu for a game cafe, and much of it is vegan or vegetarian. Pressed sandwiches, burgers, baked goodies, smoothies, all kinds of coffee drinks, and salads/wraps. I wanted something warm, light, and comforting. As simple as it may be, I was thrilled to find a pressed PB&J on the menu for a low price. I was offered my selection of a surprisingly large number of jellies (strawberry for me!) and my sandwich came out quickly. I had both a sweet tea and a latte -- hydration and stimulation! Lol. The food was good, and my mint mocha latte tasted just like an Andes mint. My favorite part of this place, though, is the vibe! Nerdy and inclusive. Wish all places could be like that. :) Fun merchandise from all kinds of anime, shows, games, movies, etc; board games; a tidy all-gender restroom; Pride flags of different flavors everywhere...it really did feel like a pocket of welcomeness. I don't see enough spaces like that in the southeast, sadly, and so it's extra nice when you do come across it. There were lots of teens and folks wearing alternative style hanging around in cozy couches and tables playing games and I just love to see it! While the game and card selection isn't /massive/, it's perfectly satisfying (remember -- not a ton of space in the building) and the staff was more than willing to help with people's questions. This is a wonderful space to hang out, make new friends (if games/anime/nerd culture is your scene), and grab a bite to eat. Give it a go if it sounds like your speed!

We were in town for a concert and to meet up with some friends and it happened to be "Free Comic Book Day" and we had time to kill, so we stopped at some local shops including the Deep at their new location. They had all the goodies for giveaways-- who can beat 3 free comics plus another 5 freebies if you make a purchase? The companies (Marvel, DC, and the indies) made a good show of rolling out freebies to give readers a sample of current offerings and hopefully they roped in some new readers. It was nice to see The Deep still has a swath of back issues, I was able to cross several titles off my never-ending search list as I poked around the store. They still have a wall of new releases, a ton of games and figures, etc. It was also very cool to see such a wide diversity of readership, people of all ages and backgrounds grabbing up new releases and picking up pull lists. Not sure if ownership has changed in the past decade or more or if it's more to do with the changing vibes of the subculture itself becoming more mainstream and accessible, but it just felt overall more "welcoming" and open than ever before so that anyone can find the book they're looking for and get into comics.
