I came in for a gel builder manicure and pedicure and my boyfriend was meeting me after manicure. They close at 7:00 and I got here at 5:45 and they kept emphasizing how they closed at 7. So he did not meet me in worries that he would not be serviced. I tried to call ahead for us and they said we didn't me a appointment because they were not busy-- I was rushed through, massage which is my favorite part was cute short even though I purposefully get the expensive pedicure for the massage aspect. This is no longer my go to nail salon in Dallas. The other day we made an appointment for two. I was getting manicure pedicure. It's obvious after gel or dip removal nails are weak and brittle. I asked my manicurist for a nail strengthener coat- she said what's that? Hello you just pointed out how my nails were weak bending and breaking at the tip. How can you have no clue what a nail strengthener is and not apply a coat or two for a manicure? Pretty basic to keep nails strong. I normally bring my husband here for a foot and shoulder massage. They assigned one lady to do his massage- not the lady we requested and made an appointment with btw she was gone even though they said she'd be there. We were directed to sit down by two women Before I knew it my husbands assigned lady lady walked away and another person came over??? This person that came over to massage my husband with a low cut tank top, cleavage and tits hanging out. How rude! Go put on a decent shirt or what happened to the first decently dressed lady that sat us down- where did she go? The person with their tits out also didn't do the normal routine of a dry massage over my husbands shirt. Instead they put lotion all over his neck and left a ring of pink lotion around the collar and the collar was fucked up. The whole time this person was giving him a massage all the other workers were watching and it made me uncomfortable to look over and see breasts in his face . Never again Plenty of other decent spots to go in oak lawn. The owners need to be more mindful of shit like this. Just plug in your phone number, name, services you want and a preferred nail tech if you have one. I have always parked on the side street between the nail salon and the Melrose Hotel on Dickinson Rd. There is a parking garage, though, off of Oaklawn. When you arrive you type your number in at the front desk and they'll have your reservation. Show you to the colors and get you seated for service. All the technicians that I have had have been there great! Prices are on par for other salons. They also have a full bar and the water they serve comes in a glass with ice and a slice of cucumber. Specifically, one thing I watched for was nail technicians bouncing between clients and increasing the wait time. There were a lot of people there and I didn't see that at all. I heard clients greeting their technicians by name. Clearly repeat clients. T was cheerful and friendly and did a great job with my nails. This was honestly one of the strangest and most upsetting experiences I've had in a personal care setting. It was my first time and will obviously be my last. Let me explain: My friend and I came in expecting a relaxing time--we were enjoying ourselves at first. I had requested a 5-minute back massage and a 5-minute scalp massage--both clearly listed on their manicure menu. The nail tech doing my nails was kind and responsive at first. She said, "Okay, let me talk to them" when I made the request. They proceeded to give me the shoulder and back massage, which I appreciated, but when it came time for the scalp massage, everything shifted. I should make the disclaimer that I have beautiful mid length red microlocs. Kevin, the staff member who came over, dismissed me without a second thought, saying he "doesn't do scalp massages" after he had just completed my 5m shoulder and back. No effort to find someone who did. No explanation. Just a cold and cavalier brush-off. So I asked to speak with the manager, hoping for some accountability. Instead, I got gaslit. First, the manager denied they even offer scalp massages. Then when we physically showed her the menu--their own menu--she backpedaled and claimed, "Oh, that's someone else," or "We don't offer that anymore," depending on which excuse she landed on. It was insulting. By the time I got to the register, they did apologize--but it didn't matter. I was already embarrassed and they had already lied. What could've been an easy solution was instead made to feel like an inconvenience. And what's worse, I left there feeling like I wasn't being denied because of logistics or scheduling-- that was the lie they kept trying to cook up-- it was quite clear that it was because of my hair. I was disappointed and really upset. I'm not someone who causes scenes. I don't seek conflict. I'm a Black woman with red, beautiful microlocks, and the way that scalp massage was suddenly off-limits--to me and only me--made me feel like I didn't belong there. That I wasn't welcome. That my hair, and maybe even my presence, was a problem. It was humiliating, it was weird, and it was deeply painful to walk away from what should've been a peaceful, self-care moment with my friend, with that kind of emotional weight. To say the very least, the experience was deeply deplorable and unlike anything I'd ever experienced in my 36 years of living. To anyone considering High Five Nail Bar: Don't. If you value being seen, heard, and respected--especially if you're a Black woman--you deserve better. read more

I was so hyped going into this new facility. The ambience and the technicisns seemed are really nice and friendly although services are what you would expect at an upscale bar, which is what I desire. I got a Mani/Pedi dipped and I spent over $150, and after I got home, my toes, legs and feet fell fine, but my nails were just not up to par Thanksgiving was the next day so I could not go back so a few days later. My nails are filed down because they just look like they were pressed on top of my hand.
