This place has been a must for us the last two summers that I have came home to visit. Easy to reserve a spot online with plenty of time options throughout the summer. Check in was quick and easy, sign a waiver and hop on a bus to take you to the top. Once there you will find the tubes and go down the river which can take 1.5-2 hours. We weren't 100% sure if we'd feel up to rafting down the Provo River. So I didn't plan ahead. There's another company that I was looking at, but when we finally decided to pull the trigger and book (the night before), I went to their website, and they wouldn't allow me to book online. I figured it wasn't meant to be. But then we took a drive to Heber, and I saw a big sign for High Country Adventure. Looked up their site, called to see what our options were. No problem! Book on the site! So we did. It was great. Checkin went fine. Getting life jackets went smooth. Loading on the bus and getting up to the drop off point was a breeze. Waited for our raft and guide to hail us, then we loaded up and headed down River. Nice and relaxing ride down. After the fact, I looked up reviews. I can imagine any of the poor reviews happening since all the staff seem young. Luckily for us, everyone was fine the day we went. (I've been to plenty of other places in the area that have terrible customer service from high school/young peeps, lol!) Our guide was fantastic. The rest of our group was with another guide that they raved about. I've floated the River years before when we rented tubes from BYU. It was such a pain to haul them to the river, have two people drive a car down river, and then everyone load up and drive up river. High Country Adventure makes it super easy and convenient to get to and on the River. Glad we found them! We've already recommended them to friends, and will be back! read more

Grateful for the good communication. Carson was personable, and attentive. We went during the best time in the middle of September. Carson was there to help us beginning middle and end. We used the two man kayak and it's not like a canoe. It's a blow up that nice and hard, you will still get your bootie wet but not as wet as if you were doing the tubes. We like the kayaks because we have more control and overall it's an easier ride. read more

The scenery was a very beautiful experience to be able to see ! I do believe they should have more security or safety points where the currents are at. The current to took my tube and my paddle leaving me in the current while the water is freezing my body went into complete shock and I could not breathe at all. My brother jump out his tube to get me out the current and I all can say to him was thank you because we both seriously thought I wasn't going to make it . There needs to be more security enforced and better life jackets!!! This is not meant for any kids ! Chaos. That's how I would explain the check in process and beginning of this journey. They are very busy. Parking is kind of confusing. They don't help you get fitted properly for a life jacket. This review was for the float down the Provo. All that being said it is a very nice float. We took a guided trip but really probably not necessary. I'm a physician and love taking my office staff to do fun things in an attempt to be "the cool boss" . We chose to do a river run with High Country and couldn't have been happier with the outcome! I joke with my staff about "team building exercises" because they are often so cheesy, but working together as a team to avoid obstacles and try to hit the fastest currents actually turned out to have that exact, unexpected, benefit! The staff at High Country were so professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The rapids are mellow and good for all ages and the scenery is stunning. We opted for the guided river rafting and had an awesome experience. It was nice to soak in the sights. Our raft guide gave us a history of the area and even stopped so we could take a dip in the water! We messed up our times and arrived after everyone left for the haul to the drop-in zone and I was so disappointed and knew I had messed it up for the people with me. Chasen offered to drive us up in his own car but needed to wait until someone could take his place in the office. His mom, Tara, the owner, showed up and allowed the drivers to come back , pick us up and drop us off. So over the top kind. Not only the hospitality shown to us but the Provo River did not disappoint. The 4 us kayaked and it was a beautiful day, and so relaxing, even saw a moose cross the river close to us. Was fishing the lower provo. Employees from this company were skipping relatively good size rocks across the river. They did it over six to seven times. One of the rocks hit me as I was fishing below the bank. I finally told them to stop throwing rocks. I called the office and spoke to a female manager who said that they are kids and it doesn't matter if they skip rocks across the river because it's a public river. She called the owner of the company, and he basically told me "do what you Gotta do. I will be filing a police report in order to get to the bottom of who was throwing the rocks. I highly advise to not use this business as they put zero importance into safety. They charge you money to tube down the river and the employees room. Throw rocks across that very river. The manager and owner all they did was excuse it and yell at me to get off their property when I was asked to come talk to the manager. read more

Came one here to see reviews but I don't understand them, my family and went tubing today, loved it. Yes my wife turned over in her tube, but that's because she wasn't sitting in it properly. I throughly enjoyed it, if you listen to to bus driver in where to get out and walk around you will be safe. I also suggest using an oar to help you steer. There are employees always at every exit point to help you out. My niece couldn't get out and this blonde girl who works there jumped in that river and got her. I've done a float up by this area before and it was great but let me tell you, this was the most draining, fight of my life. I was dodging trees trying not to die. Every time I got to the middle of the water, I would go to the other side and start paddling with my God made paddles which were my hands. Do NOT come here if you don't want to get flipped upside down off your raft. I didn't enjoy one second of the 2 hour float, my friend and I continued to get branches budged into our sides arms and legs. Not to mention, we were the only group at this location. WORST SERVICE EVER. Completely unorganized and possibly racist!!!! First of all, apparently they are the busiest on Sundays (I wish they would advertise that online instead of on a cardboard box next to their one tiny office). I ended up waiting in the hot sun for over 1 hour! Apparently, the lines were so long because there was only one line for walk-ins and reservations. There was no point in reserving in advance because it took just as long, if not longer, to get checked-in. Additionally, they somehow lost my waiver form so I had to sign that again.... Their employees blatantly do NOT know what they're doing and clearly will let girls with large breasts cut in line!!! At first, I thought it was just that but it gets worse... one of their employees was trying to help with the line by passing out the waivers throughout the line. Yet somehow he managed to NOT give any of the only three Asian groups a waiver. We were scattered throughout the line yet he coincidentally skipped them all. Additionally, they have no way to clearly verify if a group has paid since they will give out wristbands without a proof of purchase. AKA, once you get a wristband, you are free to enter the bus which will drive you up to the start of the tubing station. Lastly, I'm pretty sure they are violating safety protocols because they over-stuffed the bus--a two-seater was squeezed into a three-seater and a handful of other passengers had to sit on the ground. The only saving grace is that the river itself is cool and long (about 1.5-hour ride) and you are able to bring our own drinks free of charge. read more

I must start by prefacing that this is mainly a pandemic review! I have only experienced tubing with High Country Adventure. I've only gone once outside the pandemic and I've gone twice this year. Before the pandemic, I remember High Country Adventure tubing being a lot of fun. It's reasonably priced, they have pretty high quality equipment, the shuttle service is super handy, and you can't beat the view while sitting in a tube and coasting down the Provo River. I'm from the midwest, so to me, this river has quite a few rapids but by local standards, this river is fairly calm. I would also recommend that you bring a few drinks (no glass!) to enjoy on the river. The river is really cold so you don't even need a cooler to keep your drinks cold. Also, remember that unless you have a water tight container that everything on your person will be soaking wet and if it's not secured to something, it will probably go missing too. I've seen friends flip when none of us saw it coming! The only thing I remember being bad was that the porto-potties can be a little gross if it's late in the day. However, now that it's the pandemic, I've noticed that High Country doesn't give two shits about protecting their employees or customers. Sure, there are signs everywhere encouraging everyone to social distance, but the employees aren't wearing masks, even when they're talking close to you. They have windows open on most of the shuttles but one of the shuttles I was on had no windows at all and nobody was wearing a mask. Me and my friends are always the only ones wearing masks. Not even the employees wear masks! This is all very sad because the activities that High Country Adventure hosts are very easy to do correctly in the pandemic since they're outdoors. If they would just require mask wearing on the shuttles and only use vehicles that have windows. Also, the bathrooms are still gross so definitely try to take care of your business beforehand! I happen to be young and healthy and I'm working remote so it's easy enough for me to self-quarantine after I do the tubing trips with High Country Adventure, it would just be great if I didn't have to do that for a simple tubing trip that was mostly outdoors. read more

Tubing the Provo River- This was a super fun summer activity that my teens enjoyed. We went mid week because we heard that the weekends are crazy busy. The staff was super friendly and the tubes were great. It's a very self service situation when you get your life jacket, but it wasn't a big deal- might have been a bit more challenging if it were busier. I will say that if your tube popped on the river, I honestly don't know what you would do because you are kinda on your own. Nothing against HCA, as I think they do a pretty good job... but it is a short and boring float down the Provo River. I have been on some really great rafting trips in Missouri and Arkansas and this wasn't close to any of those. However, I will say that the Provo does lack much of the sophomoric antics that you typically find in the beer infested waters of the South. As such, this is a great trip for small children, prudes and the fragile. I also subtracted a star because someone tried to break into our car in the parking lot, while we were on the river. read more

The tubes were reliable the whole float, the life jackets were of decent quality, and the adolescents working the front desk were friendly. This company lacks 2 stars because of an unpleasant interaction with the guest service manager, Terra Trinari, who states she "runs this place". Her costumer service leaves a lot to be desired for, she was short tempered, rude and interruptive. I think she would benefit from a professionalism course to help manage with her interactions at HCA. read more

My husband, I and a couple friends reserved the, "All Day Adventure" that High Country Adventure had to offer. The Train ride, Rafting, and Zip lining were all fun and there were no issues. The ATV portion was unsafe. They put all 4 of us in one vehicle, rather than letting each couple have there own. We all paid about $300 per person, we should have at least been given 2. In addition to only being given one, it was very unsafe. No helmets, no goggles, and not even a simple bandanna to protect the nose and mouth. The dust was horrific! We had burning sinuses, burning eyes and irritated throats. They did not tell us to bring anything. I recently sent an email to High Country Adventure explaining the ATV experience that we had and I did get a response. They did not apologize at all, and they said that their ATV was safer than the other ones we saw on the trail. EVERYBODY on the trail had protective gear, except us. I visited the Polaris website and found out that they definitely strongly recommend safety equipment. I'm not the "mask police," I'm a human who doesn't want to get COVID and I would expect that if this company wanted to stay in business, they wouldn't want their customers contracting COVID, either. They shove everyone onto a bus, the driver isn't even wearing a mask -- there's no distancing on the bus. There's no sanitizing of anything whatsoever. read more

We were really looking forward to tubing down the river with High Country Adventure. In light of COVID-19, and especially with a recent spike in Utah, we thought that this would be a great activity that is outdoors in open air with low risk of being exposed to the virus. And tubing on the river did give us that experience... however, the bus ride up to the drop off area where we start our float, was packed with people sitting on top of eachother's laps, no masks on, and no windows open. We knew that we were going to be transported to a drop spot upstream, however we figured that in light of COVID-19, social distancing would occur on these buses in some form. They stuffed over 50 people between two vehicles. It was completely irresponsible. And I can't believe their business is operating like this. But then again, maybe I can because majority of the people of Utah seem to be pretty oblivious and doubtful that there is a pandemic happening. In addition, once we got to the drop spot we had to wait another 20-30 minutes for them to bring a second trip of tubes for our entire party. If we booked online and had a reservation you'd think that they would pack enough tubes into their trailer for each reservation. We should've asked to be compensated back partially. If you are looking out for you and other's safety, but are also looking for a good activity to do outdoors with low risk and exposure, I would not recommend this company. read more
