I almost didn't want to eat here because of the low rating but I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the food and the woman working there was very nice. The food was done on time, it was packaged well, there was a large amount of all of the different items we ordered. We ordered the family dinner A for 3 and had plenty of food left over after stuffing ourselves!! I will definitely go back! Sweet and Sour Chicken - slightly less sweet than most Americanized Chinese food but full of flavor and large chunks of veg and pineapple. Broccoli Beef - crunchy broccoli and super tender beef slices. The sauce was plentiful and full of flavor without being over salted. Combo Chow Mein - SO GOOD. probably my favorite part. Large noodles covered in a savory brown sauce with chunks of pork chicken and shrimp. Pork fried rice - standard fried rice. Not overly dry but delicious. Egg rolls - I didn't like these but I prefer Vietnamese egg rolls. Crunchy veggie rolls. Fried wontons - meat stuffed fried wontons. Yum! Wonton Soup - full of fresh and crunchy veggies and slices of pork. Could have used some salt for my taste but I loved the variety of veggies. read more

I used to love this place! Going there once to twice a week. The middle of last year they changed their chef and the food hasn't tasted the same. I was very disappointed. I decided today to try it again and it was not good. I specifically liked their salt and pepper spare ribs before. Today it was terrible.... Again still not seasoned right. I'm sad I live 20 or so miles from this joint, because I have loved it for years! Any time I'm in the area (and sometimes I just get in my car and make a special trip), this is my go-to chinese joint. I am absolutely addicted to their Hong Kong style Chicken Chow Mein and their Mongolian chicken. Always cooked to perfect with tons of flavor. Another thing I love is they have a separate takeout counter, so if you're only stopping in to pick up an order you don't have to mess with anyone trying to get a table. Potsticker score: 7/10. Browned on the bottom but the filling is a little lacking in flavor and the wrapper is a little thick and doughy. But with a little sauce, it turns into something beautiful. Well, honestly I was surprised to see the ratings so low here. I've always gotten pretty good food, but to be fair we've never eaten in the restaurant we always get "take out". It might not be "authentic" Chinese food(though I don't know why you would expect that in an area like Antioch) but it's pretty damn good "American Chinese" food. The restaurant itself is by far the cleanest and nicest Chinese place in the area. As far as customer service...I call...they answer...I tell them what I want...they tell me how long...they make it...I pick it up. Works for me. The food here is always very consistent. I've tried quite a few things on the menu, never really gotten a bad meal. Sounds like the service in the restaurant isn't the best but for "take out", Hidden Dragon kicks ass! Great food, great staff, great variety... Overall a bit pricey....I don't mind paying more for good food, but I like to feel like I get a bargain, and to be honest with this place you only get that in the take out realm. The take out portions are ginormus, so much that they are forever leaking out of the bag and container. This sounds gross, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE sauces! The eat in portions are WAY smaller. We always have to order 2-3 entrees for my gf, son, and I...as well as at least 2 side orders and potstickers. This all usualy totals around 35-40 before we even tip, and no leftovers....not ok with a teenage son! If you want to pick from all kinds of chinese food, this is the place for it. Food is pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. I will definitely come back for the lunch specials. However, I will strongly warn anyone against buying a cocktail here. They sent out the wrong drink twice and then gave up on making a dark and stormy (2 ingredients and on their drink menu) and told my wife to order something else. She ordered their version of a long island ice tea and it was horrible. My Mai Tai was okay, but for 8.25 it shouldn't be rum and a generic mix. They didn't even offer to take care of it, but the waitress was nice enough. Come for good lunch specials and stick with water. read more

I used to be a regular customer here until they decided to use cheaper, inferior ingredients. The Orange Chicken used to be white meat - now it is dark meat with no taste. The pork fried rice had little tiny pieces of pork. The pork fried rice is better at the Chinese take out inside the Raley's store in Brentwood. Will not return. read more

Service is poor. We waited a very long time between when we sat down and got our food. During that time all 3 of us had empty water glasses. 2 servers walked by with full pitchers of water. Neither came by our table to check on us and I'm not really one to yell out for service. We were ignored for 15+ mins after ordering. No checkin, water, and we wanted to order tea, which was free but they won't tell you that or offer you any. You should skip this Lame-o and frustrating place. This is chinese food for the non-chinese. No salt fish, no bitter melon, no oxtail, no winter melon, no fresh seafood, no salty eggs. Be prepared for minimal black bean usage when you order anything with black bean sauce. Bland chinese food for a quick fix when you're an hour away from any decent chinatown. My girlfriend adores this place and we decided since we were in the area we would have dinner here. It's a beautiful place and not a lot of people there so it was fairly quiet. We were seated and our waiter was very nice. We ordered the Mongolian style chicken. Kung pao scallops and hong kong chow mein with chicken. We wanted egg rolls but apparently our waiter didn't hear us order it. It's ok no big loss. 1. Mongolian style chicken: My absolute favorite dish of the night. It had so many great flavors I could of just eaten that all night. Even as leftovers they were still good so when ever we come back this will definitely be on our order. 2. Hong Kong chow mein with chicken: Not my favorite dish but definitely not bad. I'm not a fan of the crispy noodles (which is hong kong style) but my girl friend is and it definitely was not a bad dish. 3. Kung pao scallops: This is the one I am disappointed with. I saw this on the menu and knew it was what I wanted right away. The waiter even said it was a great choice but no, it was not. My main gripe about this dish is the fact that the scallops were deep fried. No no no. I wanted nice seared scallops, not deep fried and surrounded in a batter that makes them look twice as big as they are. Located off Lone tree way this place is fairly easy to miss and drive right by. I've eaten here 3 or 4 times for their lunch specials. They normally seat you right away and keep bringing water and your food. Soup normally comes right out and has always been very good. The salad with the asian dressing is very tasty. I have tried the salt n pepper shrimp which is good. So is the lemon chicken and sweet n sour chicken. Atmosphere is nice and lunch prices are reasonable. I made the mistake of ordering takeout last week in the evening! Orange chicken a la carte ($8.95) was over breaded and soggy by the time I got it home. Not quite the orange flavor i'm used to and the chicken was a bit overcooked. So over breaded didn't even attempt to eat the leftovers since the breading swelled up more after it cooled off. 2 out of 5 stars. Almond chicken a la carte ($8.95) was also overcooked, the almonds were over toasted or overcooked in the wok and they gave off that pungent flavor almonds do when they are over toasted and the flavor ruined the taste of the rest of the dish. Skipped the leftovers on this dish as well. 2 out of 5 stars. Crab puffs ($6.95) You get 10 of them, not real large, cooked well and the accompanying sweet and sour sauce was very good. Nice sour flavor without being too thick. This was the best part of the meal, although $7 bucks isn't cheap either. 3.5 out of 5 stars. The food wasn't bad, and maybe i'm suffering from the recency effect, but my last takeout order was a $27 BUST! My BEST advice is to eat here on weekdays and order their lunch specials since they come out fresh and are a much better value than their dinner menu. I would give their lunch specials 3.5 stars, thus the 3 star overall rating. read more

I ate here recently with my daughter. I guess that was after people had their lunch, or the place is often that empty! Atmosphere is nice & clean. Food is a little on the small serving costly side. I asked the water for water & extra napkins. I got the glass of water after about 20 minutes, when no other customer was there except from us. The extra napkins didn't come at all. I asked for our check. As the waiter came with our bill ahs he saw me pulling my credit card from my wallet, he took my card without even giving me the time to handing me our bill/check. This place has really declined in the taste of their dishes. The fried rice used to be the best in the area and now they use the cheaper quality rice that shouldn't be used for fried rice and it tastes so bland and has no flavor. I also use to love their spring rolls but now they have no flavor and the cabbage smells. I thought taking a chance on them again that things might've changed but they haven't. So disappointed because I used to come here all the time and I live close by but now I drive all the way to pleasant hill for decent Chinese food. read more

Hidden Dragon is a gem of a restaurant, but it's sometimes hard to see it. The ownership seems a little old school and hasn't done the work to be up to date sort of speak. Delivery would be a HUGE plus - but it's a great experience to dine in. The decor is very nice and you will feel comfortable and enjoy the ambient music. The marble tables, and the clean and friendly atmosphere will make this a favorite place to dine in - I highly recommend you find the Hidden Dragon. read more

Hidden Dragon is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Antioch. All dishes we have tried over the past 9 years are wonderful. You can ask for less salt and that is how it is prepared for you. I absolutely loved hidden dragon despite a horrible customer service experience I had, food is actually really good however my last few trips there me and my boyfriend got bad stomach aches after we ate. We tried to ignore it and thought maybe it's the grease they fry in or something but due to this unwanted feeling we get and the way our stomachs act up after eating this we won't be back. This is hands-down the worst place I've ever had the displeasure of eating. The service was horrible. Our waiter sat us and walked away to another table to go chat. When he came back 3 minutes with water he was about to turn away without even taking our drink orders until I stopped him with an "excuse me," and told him what I wanted. He got our drinks, set them down, and walked away without asking us if we were ready to order. We put our empty drinks on the side of the table and politely waited as he walked by us 3 or 4 times to make casual conversation with the table next to us. (who had a screaming, crying infant. If you're going to bring a child to a restaurant please be responsible about it!) When he came back with the food, he finally spoke for the first time. "Here's your rice," and he threw the bowl. The bowl slid across the length of the table. He sat down the other plates of our food and immediately walked away, completely ignoring our 4 empty glasses of soda and water inching their way closer and closer to the end of the table to give this kid a hint. Don't worry though, the waiter was having a great time at work, as he shouted at the top of his lungs across the restaurant to greet a family of regulars. How this place has regulars is beyond me. The food was cold, low-quality and way too salty. This is coming from a person who puts salt on EVERYTHING. I absolutely love salt. This food was so salty it was not edible. When we told the waiter all he did was bring it back into the kitchen. He didn't offer to fix it, take another order, or even apologize. The meal was still on our bill as well. First time here, driving around the area craving Chinese for dinner. Absolutely enjoyed it. Quiet, quaint restaurant, with an overall nice atmosphere. Ordered hot tea, water, and a coke. All delicious, clean tasting, and the coke had free refills! For main dishes, we ordered Wow Won Ton Soup, Mandarin Beef, String Bean Chicken, Combination Chow Mein, and Steam Rice. Just moved to the neighborhood and was looking for some GREAT Chinese food. This place was meh. I ordered salt and pepper ribs which was covered in sugar. Is this how it's made or someone eff'd up?! The combination rice was good. The chow mein was meh and the sesame chicken meh. Overall I would not go here again unless I just wanted rice. This is the second time here and we were worried it wouldnt be amazing like our first time....but it did not disappoint again. Therefore i feel the consistency is here. The mandarin chicken is BOMB. Everything has been yummy that weve tried but the mandarin chicken has become our staple here. I think this is the best chinese food in contra costa county. Service is very fast, staff is very helpful and kind. You feel like family here. Restaurant is nicely decorated and clean.
