The food was very good and the service accommodating and friendly. While the outside appears as an older building, the interior is inviting. Veggie Benedict, add some ham, was awesome! Had our breakfast here as we were leaving Moab on a Saturday around 8:30am. Given we tried jailhouse cafe I would say this place is as good or even better in terms of the eggs dishes. Even though it is 8 min drive from downtown Moab and the opposite direction of the national park I would say it is worth it. I went with the eggs veggie Benedict. It was really good with everything balancing out in terms of taste. The potatoes were good too but they were soaked with fat (maybe it's a good thing in terms of taste but made me feel unhealthy) My wife went with the avocado toast and a side of scrambled eggs. They were good too and the portion was very generous that I ended up eating a slice out of the four slices of bread. As we always do, we ended our breakfast with an order of french toast. This place was recommended to us by family that lives in Moab and they love it. We had the biscuits and gravy which comes with eggs and a breakfast combo. The food was not great. The biscuits were under cooked and gooey in the middle and the gravy tasted like packaged gravy. Asked for medium eggs and they came out over easy. Maybe the cook was just having an off day. What a lovely surprise to discover hidden cuisine! Slightly further from Moab downtown than other options it is worth the additional 2 min drive. An outside patio made it really pleasant to enjoy our breakfast with our dog and a view. Everything was good but French toast, granola (healthy banana split) and the very berry smoothie were delicious. Our waitress was lovely and very welcoming. She made a mistake when ordering and gave us an extra order of French toast so we had way too much food but what a nice gesture. A great experience to start our day of exploration. Wow, what a great surprise! Really interesting mix of choices- sort of South African fusion. Best food we've had so far in our 2week trip through red-rock country. We showed up for dinner and the place was a ghost town. Glad we didn't let that stop us. Went back for breakfast next morning too. Turns out they just started serving dinner a couple months ago and just got their liquor license a few weeks ago. So, business has been a little slow to startup. I came into Hidden for breakfast pretty early on a weekday, so things were pretty slow when I got there. Really, that just translates to extra attention and excellent service. Shauna was a fantastic and fun server, and I really loved talking to her. She told me all about the area and what life is like there, and she also informed me that Moab had a Pride festival the weekend I was visiting! Yay! As for the food, I ordered the breakfast crepes with bacon, and they were fantastic! The crepes were delicate and perfectly cooked, and the filling was delicious. The breakfast potatoes were also crispy and delicious, and it was all topped off with a wonderful hollandaise. I also ordered a latte which was the perfect start to my day. I was a smitten kitten. Shortly after my food arrived, the chef made her way to the patio where I was sitting and we chatted for a bit. Zinzi is both the owner and chef of Hidden Cuisine, and she is an absolute delight to talk to. Hearing her story of immigrating from South Africa and making her life in Utah was awesome. She was also extremely LGBT-friendly and super excited about Pride, and I can't express how much that means to me as a guy from a small town in a conservative part of the country. Zinzi deserves every ounce of praise she deserves as both a cook and a human being, and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town. Thank you Shauna and Zinzi! Great food, but pretty pricey and the portions were on the smaller side. We stopped by because we have South African family and we wanted to try the South African restaurant in Moab. The only really South African dish on the dinner menu was Bobotie, but there are a lot of South African flavors infused in the other dishes. They also had a few South African wines, but since we don't drink we were disappointed they didn't have any of the classic non-alcoholic drinks that every South African craves when they go home. Its not really very kid friendly even though we brought ours. What we really liked is that the kids menu is real fresh made food just in a smaller portion, not restaurant wholesale stuff they reheat like a lot of other places. They also had chocolate lava cake the day we went that was really good. We did struggle with our server who wasn't very attentive and hid out in the back so we couldn't even get his attention, so that's why I took off a star. Our drinks ran dry and it took us flagging down a different server to get a refill which I really hate. My wife also chuckled that we overheard a different server really struggling to pronounce Bobotie right. We may go back again, but for that price we'll probably wait until there is a different classic South African dish other than Bobotie to try. read more
