I believe a good breakfast place is marked by two things: how delectable their cinnamon rolls are and if they offer flavored creamer. Hidden Cafe has both of these, but I'm primarily impressed with their cinnamon rolls. They are ginormous! It looked liked a soufle when the waitress brought it out. As soon as you cut into them, they ooze butter...dieters be forewarned, because these babies are irresistable. I love that they offer fried rice with breakfast. I thought it was a little smaller than it used to be but did not disappoint in flavor. I feel like Mom and Pops places appear glad you came in and chose to spend your money with them and not the 8 million other places that I could choose from. I didn't get that feel. My eggs were way under cooked and the fried rice was not really fried tasting. Its hard to articulate it but not so good. Cute little spot, located in a small business complex in Camarillo Springs. The wait was only 20-30 minutes for a party of 3 on Fathers Day, and all the staff were working really hard to make sure everyone was taken care of quickly. I ordered the Garden Benedict while my father had the classic version. I enjoyed my meal and they did a great job cooking the hashbrowns instead of leaving them raw in the middle like so many other busy breakfast places seem to do. This is my favorite and best go-to breakfast place, and my friend and I come here to catch up over breakfast as often as we can - usually several times per month. Very very good place for brunch. Simple yet very good quality. Takes the typical brunch menu and seems to do them all and very well. We took our family of 8 adults there and had everything from loco moco to fried chicken and waffles to banana and buckwheat pancakes to huge tasty cinnamon buns to bacon and eggs to ahi tuna Benedict to corned beef hash and eggs. Everyone shared and everyone thoroughly enjoyed every dish. I don't like to give 5 stars indiscriminately but for what this place is and especially where it is, they have earned their laurels. We'll be back for lunch and certainly again for brunch. Excellent service, generous portions, great flavors, incredible variety, fair prices and high quality food are rare combinations anywhere. After wanting to give this place a try for quite some time now, I finally decided to come in and see if the recommendations lived up to the expectations. Upon arrival, it took some time to try and get ahold of the hostess to put down our name on the waiting list. It seemed that the staff was overwhelmed with the amount of guests at the location. It took about 30 minutes to be seated, and then another 30-40 minutes for the food to arrive. I tried the pancakes which tasted mediocre, nothing too special. I could not tell the difference between these pancakes and pancakes at a place like iHop or Denny's honestly. Given the taste, insane wait times, and overcrowding, I don't think I will be back.
