She is really amazing..the kind of server you want to have everywhere you dine!!! I ordered the country boy with a not well done ham, sunny side eggs, grits, and hash brown casserole. It comes with biscuits and gravy and all together is a scrumptious breakfast! I enjoyed everything immensely! The restaurant itself was clean and orderly. The decors are what makes the place so relaxing! I just love country style anything! Of course, I wouldn't leave without grabbing something from the store. I got a scale clock decor, with a small pillow(which I ended up getting for free). In addition, I grabbed some small salt and pepper shakers for additional decor. A Fairness Update as of 08/09/2026: Seems I saw where one of my conditions for a return visit has been fulfilled and both the wife and I were in the mood from some good old Cracker Barrel ambiance. We packed up the mother in law too, as she really enjoys this restaurant too. Since it was a Sunday, I was able to order my Southern Fried Chicken dinner; talk about a happy camper, my chicken was very good. The wife got the pot roast and mom got her standby of chicken and dumplings, both ladies were very pleased with their choices. The service was beyond wonderful despite the place being fairly busy and the wait staff was spread a bit thin. Our server must have been a psychic as she appeared with drink refills just as the first round was going empty. Everything was super delicious, very hearty Meal, mouthwatering, savory!! Their price points are spot on for the Quality & Quantity of their Delicious Meals! Had a friend from the south who was missing home and raving about Cracker Barrel. This was the closest location we could find, so we finally went. The vibes were off the chart. The dining experience was underwhelming. It's got a general store and the staff is very amiable. People were fun to talk to, and I'm sure we would have become friends if I lived closer to Camarillo. I'm a huge sucker for good fried chicken, and they really hyped it up saying it's one of their better dishes on the menu. Place has a very homey vibe which I'm all for, but when I got my coffee, first thing I noticed was a dirty cup. I mean the waitress poured me coffee in the cup and didn't even notice the long sticky substance on its side. I get that they're busy, but serving clean cups seems like a basic standard in the food industry; I took a photo of it for documentation. There are a lot of options and maybe the breakfast menu is better, but the fried chicken was very average. After all the hype and observing the ambience, I was hoping to experience something similar to Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles, but the food was very subpar. This was my first time ever go into a Cracker Barrel. It's definitely an interesting place especially if you like the old style decorations, which I do. The waitress is friendly. Everybody knows Cracker Barrel. If someone says they want a Southern food this place usually comes up. My visit didn't match that expectation. I ordered the Old Timer's Breakfast and added an extra sausage. When the plate came out, my first thought was, "That's it?" The food wasn't arranged badly, it just looked empty. Big plate, small portion, and nothing about it looked exciting. Breakfast plates are usually pretty similar everywhere, so presentation matters. The scrambled eggs were a tiny portion. There were three slices of tomato, one of them still a little green, and the sausage that comes with the meal was small and pretty dry. (There are two in my photo only because I paid extra for another one.) The coffee - it was not a coffee The one thing I really enjoyed was the Hashbrown Casserole Tots. Those were excellent. I'm not going to talk about the parking, the country-style decor, or the gift shop at the entrance. Every Cracker Barrel has those. I do want to mention my server. Overall I haven't been the biggest fan of Cracker Barrel in the past (no matter the location) This review today is based on todays visit only. I'm glad I gave it a chance this afternoon. It was great for a nice treat and just a minute to relax. We ordered the cinnamon roll skillet, regular coffee and the specialty vanilla latte. The skillet was very good. A nice account of gooey frosting and cinnamon and butter filling. It comes hot to the table and the warm skillet keeps everything the perfect temperature so the last bite is as good as the first. It was lunch time and the place was rather busy. However, it looked like the service staff kept everything running smoothly. Our server, Susan, was personable, attentive (without being intrusive) and overall efficient. I would feel lucky to be seated in her section again. Walking into the restaurant you step straight into their general store. Lots to look at, and if you're like me you'll end buying something, "you just can't live without". This was my first time visiting Cracker Barrel. Upon entering, I noticed that they had a small gift shop attached to the restaurant. The restaurant itself was very spacious, with plenty of tables available for dining in. It offers classic Southern-style comfort food and a nostalgic atmosphere. I browsed through the gift shop while I waited for my table to be ready. For a small shop, they had a wide variety of snacks and other goodies to choose from. I even found snacks and drinks that I've never seen before! For my meal, I went with the chicken tenders combo. I ordered the 6-piece Nashville tenders meal and chose mac and cheese and steak fries as my sides. The Nashville sauce came on the side, which I thought was a nice touch because I was able to control how much sauce I poured onto the tenders myself. The mac and cheese wasn't memorable, but it wasn't bad either. I just wish it had been a bit more flavorful. The steak fries were seasoned with garlic and salt and were cooked perfectly. They paired well with my tenders. The chicken tenders themselves were fried to perfection, crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. They were also very well seasoned. The Nashville sauce was not one of my favorites, though. It had a smoky, mildly spicy, but also sweet taste. I prefer Nashville sauces that are smoky and spicy, but not sweet. Let's talk about the service. My server was sweet and had great knowledge of the menu, but she wasn't as attentive as I had hoped. I had to flag her down a few times to get her attention. Overall, this restaurant offers a family-friendly atmosphere, comfort food classics, decent service, and a pretty cool gift shop. I'll definitely be coming back again! My family and I had been walking around the outlets for several hours, and by the time 3 p.m. rolled around, we were all starving. Since I had never been to Cracker Barrel before, we decided to stop by and give it a try. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by shelves of merchandise since the entrance leads straight into their gift shop. There were lots of little knickknacks and nostalgic items. We did not end up buying anything, especially since we had already finished most of our holiday shopping, but next time we might browse more when we are not so tired. The walls were covered with old-timey relics like antique telephones, glass bottles, spades, and more. With so many restaurants moving toward a modern look, I really appreciated how themed and cozy this place felt. For food, we ordered the Hashbrown Shepherd's Pie and the six-piece chicken tenders with two sides. The shepherd's pie was flavorful and packed with tender beef, carrots, and celery. I especially enjoyed soaking the biscuits in the sauce. The chicken tenders were also good, with a lighter breading rather than a thick, crunchy coating, which is my preference. Overall, I really enjoyed our late lunch and would definitely come back again. I want to be fair but honest when rating Cracker Barrel. First we were great with a very friendly hostess. When we sat, the waitress was very friendly as well. We were told if we signed up for their membership we would get a free appetizer today. So that's what we did and we ordered our food. The first thing that came was the chicken noodle soup and salad which was quite good. Then we got our appetizer which was the fried pickles. Very good as well. Then our food came out. We got the meat loaf with green beans and greens and fried chicken with loaded potato and sweet carrots. The meat loaf was good but didn't come with any sauce. The loaded baked potato was good as well. The rest of the food, we were a little disappointed with. The green beans and greens tasted like they came from a can with very little flavor, the chicken was way over fried and the carrots were just ok, nothing special. When we were done, we went to pay and scanned my rewards for the free appetizer. Well what wasn't told to us is that it was on the next visit, not this current visit. The cashier was very sweet and reduced the appetizer to $0.01. We were thankful. We had such a pleasant experience at this Cracker Barrel. There aren't many locations nearby so we were very excited to stop by after shopping at the outlets. We were seated quickly, and every single staff member was so kind from the host to the gift shop register, and our server Amber was phenomenal! She was so helpful and attentive and made sure we had a great meal. We got the chicken tenders, meatloaf, and fried chicken breast, all were great but my favorite were the tenders. In every state they have their location in, the layout is the exactly the same. New Jersey to Tennessee (HQ), Missouri, Arizona, Santa Maria (permanently closed). It reminds me of a great time with family and friends driving state to state and stopping by this place to feel at home for all parties. I love how you can get some comfort food in California that isn't too far away if you're lazy to cook. And they have a take home meal that's $6 after ordering my meal as well. I'm always looking forward to their dumplings, Mac and cheese, green beans and whatever cute iced coffee drink style they have seasonally. They have a new CEO now so there's no bar here anymore. Located in premium outlets, we decided to give the southern favorite a try. I wasn't very hungry and decided to share with the Hubbs. We ordered the meatloaf & chicken and dumplings plate which came with two sides and a biscuit. For our sides, we chose the fried okra which was crunchy fun food and not slimy at all and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. The hubs liked the meatloaf, but I wasn't so impressed. The chicken and dumplings seemed like large noodles in a white gravy with chunks of white chicken that is on the dry side. It didn't taste bad, but it sure looked clumpy. I liked the biscuit and fried okra the best. My friend ordered the blackened chicken, which was also very tasty. For dessert, we ordered their biscuit beignets which is more of a soft donut covered in cinnamon, sugar, powdered sugar, and a pecan syrup dipping sauce. They were very sweet and very good but then when is fried sweet bread, not good? They also have a store where we loaded up on old-fashioned candy. I ordered the cinnamon apples for myself family to share. They were pretty mushy but that wasn't so bad. What was bad is that I took a bite and it was a breaded shrimp, not an apple!!! I flagged my waitress and showed her what was in my desert and her response was to bring me a new one. I told her no and immediately asked for the check. My son has a shellfish allergy so had he tried the apples before me, we could have been in a bad situation! She came back and said the manager was going to comp the side of apples for me. Very frustrating! Going to outlets & wanted to grab a quick to-go. Host at the door said we could place a to-go order at register. Got in line. Cashier called over another cashier. That one called me over to her register. She didn't greet me, didn't say I'll be right with you--she just walked away to answer phone. She was gone for a few minutes. Came back, no greeting, no apology. I said I want to place a to-go order. She just stood there, looking befuddled. Eventually she turned to next cashier, told her that she didn't know how to do it. That cashier was surprised, said "You haven't placed their order yet? " She told my cashier to call for a to-go specialist, who showed up & she too just stood there, kinda trying but befuddled too. She told the cashier next to her that she didn't know how. That same cashier again commented about our order still not being taken. She turned the male cashier to her right & told him to take our order. He grimaced. He came over but he too didn't know how to do it. I even offered to submit it online. He dug around for an instruction sheet & fumbled around, eventually he was able to submit the order. BUT, then he didn't know how to charge us for it so that took a few more minutes. Wow, like around 20+ minutes to get a simple to-go order placed. We got the order & she kind of skimped on it so my spouse said something and they made it right. The to-go specialist knew what had transpired; she should have made sure that we were taken care of when she prepped our order instead of skimping. So frustrating. They are the first restaurant in the 40 or so we've been to with our baby that had us move the high chair to where one of the chairs was, usually they place it at end of table which allows for all hands on deck with mom and dad to help with a toddler learning to eat. Went first time this past Sunday, and it was very fun, both decorative-wise with old the old western theme and the service/shop/food. The gift shop is diverse and have hard to find old pop, snacks, souvenirs, etc. The dining room is large and barely any people at 9am, all right, my kinda place. Susan our server was terrific. The biscuits and gravy to start were super solid. Gravy almost tastes like clam chowder, no complaints. I had some kind of skillet with sausage crumbles, scrambled eggs, and the gravy on the bottom. Also a tasty cheesy hash browns bashed in all over the plate, good stuff. No need for the gravy, so just ate the center. It was different and good. The fried onions on top totally not needed, were cold and awful just picked them off and put aside, no biggy. Sister has the grandma plate or whatever and had really good fluffy pancakes that were super solid, and served with a bottle of warm syrup, would like thicker but good taste. Overall very fun place to eat and will come back for lunch and breakfast again. Its not a luxury resort breakfast, so grade it for what it is, and you'll be pleased. We came in around 5pm and were promptly seated. No less than 6 tables were in need of bussing; the place was a mess. Not busy, maybe half full. Understaffed and yet servers disappear for ages. Food came out quickly and there was nothing that stood out as exceptional but also nothing objectionable. The country gravy on the steak had a unique flavor; couldn't quite pin it down but it wasn't the rich delicious gravy I'm used to from other places. The steak itself was very good. The steak fries also good, fried okra nice! Mac and cheese excellent. Meatloaf was a good, generous portion and was good. The dumplings were a solid choice. I give it 4 stars for food, 3 stars for service (initial service of order taking and delivery to table was 4 and subsequent service was 2) and 2 stars for ambiance. First I have to give it up for the waitstaff here. They were attentive and provided exceptional service during this breakfast service. It's not their fault the food is lackluster and the "pitcher of mimosa" is not worth ordering. The pancakes are still good and fluffy. The sausage patties were "TRASH"! Food was amazin'! Got the classic country fried steak meal with a dumplin' and Mac and cheese... boy was I blown away. Went with my brothers and them boys was darn impressed.
