stopped to do some antiquing and popped in for lunch. The service was great, food was great. We had the cheese curds, yum! Also the fried chicken sandwich and double decker sandwich (ham, turkey, cheese, lettuce, Mayo, tomato warmed on buttered Texas toast with wheat bread in between. I had mashed potatoes and gravy on the side and it was great. If your in the area give them a try. read more

We recently moved to this area & have been absolutely thrilled to have such a wonderful place to go eat in this tiny town. The food is always excellent, & the wait staff goes above & beyond to make sure we have everything we need. Many of our friends & family, who we moved an hour from, are now driving to come eat with us at Hickory Grove, instead of us driving to the Springfield area where there are endless choices. I am so sad that this restaurant has permanently closed. It was a favorite place. A sign is in the window. We ate at the Grove 2 or more times a month and business was always seemed good. The owner told us covid had been extremely hard on business. I AM SORRY IT CLOSED. It provided many jobs. read more

This is the best restaurant you can find in the area! Family owned and ran. They will make you feel at home in the cozy atmosphere. Menu prices are reasonable and the food is superb. All breads are made from scratch every morning. You won't find better! Well worth the drive if you don't live close by and you get a beautiful scenic drive on the way! read more

Slow service and food was inedible. Staff is impolite unless you live in their tiny town. The staff was on Their phones gushing over pictures while food sat. Might I suggest the owner pays more attention to her own family and business and less about other people's since the restaurant is obviously suffering. Food is always good and hot. Service is marginal. Not a single employee was wearing a mask. I could not recommend this restaurant during this covid 19 epidemic. Fortunately other restaurants require employees to wear masks. read more

Well, I have to say this was one of the blandest meals I've ever ate in my life. Got the firehouse burger and fries. You would think a burger with sauteed peppers, sriracha, grilled onions and grilled jalapenos and pepper jack cheese would be pretty tasty. Not here. You guys need to learn how to put salt and pepper on your burger. I also don't need the fancy bun, just made it look smaller and it was. And whatever fries you use, they have absolutely no taste whatsoever either. As a matter of fact, they tasted a little bit like pond water. Just not good at all. There is also a sweet taste, a very on appetizing sugary taste to your ketchup and mustard or whatever else was on the burger. That's not appetizing when you bite into a spicy meal. Decor was nice. Atmosphere was ok, but it's a restaurant, not a frigging museum. And I would try it again despite all this because the steaks and ribs and BBQ nachos looked awesome. But if you judge a place based on the simple meal, gets a D-. read more

Wow what a wonderful place. The only negative thing I could possibly say is that they aren't open for dinner. My party of four all ordered different items. They were all very good. Everything is made at the cafe. No precooked frozen food here. They also offered home made pie. They looked beautiful but didn't have room for a piece after the abundant lunch. The service is great and the appearance of the cafe is really nice. I can hardly wait to go back! read more

We stopped in this evening after a day on the lake and had a wonderful dinner! The owner was incredibly nice and thoroughly explained all of the items on the menu to us that we inquired about. She even let my dad taste a sample of the pulled pork (which he said was delicious). Our food was very good and the atmosphere in the restaurant was super cute. Can't wait to tell our friends about it and to try their breakfast! We will definitely be back! read more

The best grilled chicken sandwich in Southwest Missouri. It's a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in downtown Crane but excellent service and very clean. I highly recommend it if traveling through the area. read more
