I will start with the ambiance, this is a cute minimalist style eatery. There is plenty of seating inside and in the back in the patio area. We were with a large group of 25 and were seated comfortably and there were tables for other patrons. The staff is friendly and cheery but I will say is not experienced at waiting a large party. We had ONE service the entire group. I would have had at least two for ordering and drink service then 3-4 for serving. I say this because it took a lengthy amount of time to work down the table and back taking orders. When food arrived ours was hot and fresh but our party seated across from us by the time they received their food the bread was hard and food like warm and soggy at best. My husband and I ordered the garlic cheese curds, French dip, and spicy jalapeño jack steak sandwich with fried mushrooms. The cheese curds were delicious, if they added a bit of Cajun seasoning and offered it with candied jalapeños sauce along side the ranch they'd have a travel worthy hit on the menu!!! My jalapeño jack steak sandwich was very tasty but was missing a little something as it was a bit dry. I think a candied jalapeño relish would punch it up and moisten it enough. The bread was soft and fresh and the fried mushrooms you can't go wrong with. My husband enjoyed the French dip that was packed with meat and cheese. read more

My husband and I stopped here after looking at a few stores in town. Was not disappointed he had the bacon mac n cheese burger with fries while I had the club with seasoned waffle fries both dishes we very good. All the ingredients were fresh and made to order. Highly recommend this place to stop and eat when in town! read more

I have a gluten allergy and they were very accommodating. They don't have a GF menu, but they have plenty of options. They have GF bun for the burgers. The seasoning for their hamburger steak and burgers is Montreal Steak seasoning, which is GF. I asked them to make traditional French fries without any seasoning (because I didn't want them to have to look at the ingredients of that seasoning as well) and they had no problem doing that. All of the food was good. I had a GF burger, my son a pulled pork sandwich, and my husband a Philly steak sandwich. Each of us enjoyed it. read more

We arrived about 11:15 am. It was too cold, the music was too loud and 5 employees standing around talking. The waitress was very nice. We waited for 30 minutes to get our order! The chicken was over cooked and the fries were very undercooked and full of grease. We won't be back. It's too bad because it used to be a great place. read more

My husband and I eat at Blackbird when we drive through Aurora quite frequently . Tonight was the last time. We waited an hour and 1/2 for terrible food. My salmon was way overcooked and my husband who loves their French dip said it was not that good. Do they have new owners? Our waitress was awful and we had to ask her twice to bring our ticket to pay. What had happened to this restaurant? read more

Usually we don't have an issue when going to blackbird. However tonight was a night like no other. Don't get me wrong it's a Friday I understand the wait could be a little longer however there is a limit. We sat down and ordered our food. By 45 minutes we were like okay should be coming out soon. We were very wrong. We waited an hour and a half from the time we ordered our food till it go to the table. Then everything was cold. We at that point just ate because we were hungry. Our burgers were barely warm and the fry's and onion rings were ice cold. We asked to talk to a manager and she never came over. We had to go meet her at the register where she stated "im sorry we were busy on a Friday night and that you waited longer than you wanted I can't do anything else for you except 10$ off" keep in mind this was a 70$ meal. Our waitress also stated after an hour and 20 mins of waiting that "I'm so sorry you were skipped in the kitchen the tickets got mixed up" which she also claims to never had stated. read more

We stopped in for a beer and app on the way to the lake. Immediately we knew this was a deep fry place because of the air but we didn't mind since we would be in the lake air soo. We ordered fried mushrooms. I didn't realize they had a basket and a side on the menue. They took forever then the waitress came to deliver PART of an order because she said the cook burned the rest. She said she would bring more which she did but, the second batch was not as hot as the first. They tried to charge $8.49 then said they would reduce it to the app price of $3.49. When I told the waitress about the second partial batch arriving colder than the first she comped the mushrooms which is appreciated but still.....the mushrooms were junk. read more

The food is great (except for their veggie soup...that is awful and over priced). The rest of the is good, little pricey...but worth it. Staff friendly and on top of it. Not great acoustics and stay away from the front tables by the door when it is blowing outside. But very nice place. read more

Good food. Took awhile to get it but good when we did. Good selection for a small place and high quality food.

Went an tried this place with my grandson. We enjoyed the food. Matt used to work with my Husband for the city. We got to catch back up with him as he cook our chicken fried steaks. They came out quick and hot! Great family place, and decent prices considering this economy. Always the number 1 spot to go in Aurora. Love the open kitchen and conversation! Thank you Matt. read more

Blackbird Bar & Grill - Soup of the day! So good - Bars Near Me - Aurora, Missouri

We got the steak sandwich and the pulled turkey/pork sandwich and both were really tender and delicious. I think we both preferred the steak sandwich overall. The sweet potato fries were a little too sweet as they were seasoned with sugar possibly? Ultimately defeating the healthier alternative purpose but good if you like a very sweet fry. The service was top notch. Very attentive and super sweet. read more

Love this place! Everything I've tried is delish! Had the lemon pepper grilled chicken tonight. Cooked to perfection. Tender, moist, flavorful. Loved the grilled veggie medley & side salad with poppy seed dressing too. The Philly Cheese Steak sandwich & hand cut fries is another favorite meal. We drive down from Springfield at least a couple times a month. Servers are always friendly & helpful. read more

In my opinion the worst food in Aroura MO hands down. Fries were cold and burnt upon arriving at table My wife and I order the philly cheese steak, This sandwich was completely inedible, The meat was burnt when eating a philly cheese steak the meat should not be crunchy. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. Go down the street to Sonic or even Hardee's . -3star review. We paid $45 dollars for 1 edible sandwich 3 drinks because nothing else was edible. read more

Diamond in the Rough!! What a lovely surprise & must stop when in Aurora. It's very casual atmosphere is perfect for stopping on the way to the lake. All of our food, Fettuccini Alfredo Steak was a great cut & cooked perfectly medium rare, Catfish with excellent tartar sauce, Firecracker Chicken & amazing Ruben; were only surpassed by the fresh cut fries! The staff was very attentive & made us feel like family. We can't wait for our return trip home! read more

Not an overly clean place. The food tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill and old oil. My husband ended up tossing the shrimp when we got home. Service was okay, but the health department might want to keep an eye on this place. read more

I've been here several times and each time I go back it gets worse. The service has never been great but last week when I went for dinner the service was horrible. The food has always been very good in the past (which is why I ignored the poor service) but the food was horrible as well. Hope it improves. read more
