Soba noodles
Shenna W.

This location only does take-out. To be honest it would be easier to call in your order and pick-up. However, you can walk up to the glass doors and they will take your order just the same. So, as far as COVID19 protocol, they do not allow for you to come into the building or to dine in. However, no one had a mask on inside (the cook or other staff members). We didn't notice until after ordering and looking around. Being that they were behind glass, that would be a call on your own if you believe it to be acceptable or not. From the order to pickup - 15mins. Nothing outside of the norm. We ordered the following tonight: - Hibachi Steak with Broccoli, Onions, Zucchini and Rice - Tempura Chicken (4 bites of chicken, 1 onion ring, 1 Broccoli, and 1 slice of Zucchini) - Crab Rangoon (2 pieces) - Soba Noodle 4 white sauce cups came with the meal 1 cup of sweet teriyaki sauce for dipping We enjoyed everything tonight! Nothing was overcooked or greasy. All was fresh and piping hot! There was plenty in of steak within the Hibachi Steak plate. My only complaint, the cut of meat. There were big cuts of FAT in the mix. Now, for some that might not matter, but for me - nah...let's not. Soba noodles were good and soft. Nothing really to write home about - but a lot better than some I have been too. BUT those crab rangoons! Oh man, they are sooo good! Not to sweet, just the right amount of cheese to imitation crab meat ratio. We love that they roll them like a spring roll instead of the normal triangle. ***If you have ever burned your mouth with LAVA cheese coming out of a freshly cooked rangoon - then you would understand the appreciation here** The tempura was crispy and light. Only complaint, the slices of some of the veggies should be thinner. We got a HUGE chunk of Zucchini that was well uncomfortable to try an bite, you had to cut it up to enjoy it. I believe you got enough white sauce to get the job done, my family believes differently. They stated they were "stingy" with the sauce especially if you going to put it on the rice. Sidenote: the fried rice isn't anything fancy - just white rice fried with some soy sauce.

This is pretty good express Japanese eats, folks. Good Hibachi food, quick service, and SELF-SERVE white sauce!! I've gotten the chicken and shrimp Hibachi, so can't speak to anything else. Plenty of food, and good...at a good price. They have a TV and some inside seating. The couple times I've been here, it hasn't been too crowded. They're located in a strip mall which can be difficult to get in/out of on Wake Forest Rd, but it's okay if you can turn right and go towards the beltway or go to the other end of the shopping area and go out by the traffic light.

Hibachi Chicken Lunch Special

I was actually pleasantly surprised by my first experience here. Stopped in for lunch. Ordered at counter. Hibachi Chicken White Meat with Zucchini, Onion, Broccoli and Rice that included a drink was like eight bucks...ten with tip. Love that they have four sauces to pump into little cups...a white one (watered down mayo), ginger sauce, a mustard one and hot sauce. I found them all to be useful with the otherwise bland food. Freshly cooked though...simple and good. Especially when mixed with the sauces. Space is limited, but still more than nearby choices. They have tables and booths here. Take in or get it to go. They were quick. Sanitation is a nice 95.5. Note you can get steak, shrimp, dark meat chicken as well as white...tempura dishes...they have a nice variety.

Hibachi salmon adding shrimp.

The first time I came here for dinner, the place is kind of 'Take out'restaurant. It served good food and it is good price as well. I ordered Hibachi salmon adding shrimp, it is so yummy. The staff is friendly and nice. I recommand for the place.

Found a thick black hair in my food today. Will not be coming back. Do not eat here. The food is bland, the white sauce is runny and there's mold in the ice machine.

Inedible - had to throw away!

It is tucked away in an apartment/office complex off of Glenwood Avenue right near the 440 intersection. The food is always fresh and high quality. We ended up parking by the regions bank building and walking across the street. To locate the front entrance of Sushi Mon you'll proceed into the office building and the entrance will be off to your right. Walking in the restaurant feels modern, upscale, sleek, intimate, and trendy. Since we arrived for lunch during the week they were running a few lunch specials. I ordered the sushi combo (6 pieces of nigiri and a Sushi Mon hand roll) with a miso soup. The miso soup was a pleasant surprise and was delicious quite filling as it contained cabbage, salmon, and mushrooms. The 6 pieces Nigiri was also well balanced and had a good selection of sushi (amberjack, salmon belly, cooked shrimp, etc.). The Sushi Mon hand roll was good but had a bit of heat to it. Overall, visiting Sushi Mon for lunch was a good experience and I'd likely return if I'm in the area

I ordered five different sushi rolls, including the Carolina Twister Roll and the Spiral Ecstasy Roll. One of these rolls contains cooked/tempura ingredients, while the other contains raw ingredients. Despite this, the restaurant placed the cooked and raw sushi together on the same plate. This is absolutely unacceptable. I specifically requested that each of my five orders be placed on a separate plate, yet the staff completely ignored my instructions. This is not simply a matter of presentation or convenience. When raw and cooked food are placed together, there is a legitimate concern about cross-contact, especially for customers who may have food allergies or other dietary restrictions. What is even more frustrating is that this has happened repeatedly at this location. I have specifically asked the staff multiple times to keep the orders separated, and they continue to ignore the request. Whether this is because the employees are unwilling to take the extra time or because they are trying to save on plates is irrelevant. Customers should not have to compromise food safety because the restaurant wants to save a plate. I find this extremely unprofessional and unacceptable for a restaurant serving sushi. Customer instructions regarding the handling and separation of food should be taken seriously, particularly when raw and cooked products are involved. I am requesting that management and/or corporate address this issue with the staff at this location immediately. I would also like an explanation as to why my explicit request was ignored and why this continues to happen despite my previous complaints. This is not the level of food handling, professionalism, or customer service I expect from Kanki. I strongly recommend that management take this matter seriously and ensure that employees are properly trained to follow customer instructions and keep raw and cooked food appropriately separated.

Food: 4 Service: 4…read moreAmbience: 4 Date/Time: 10/22/2026 11:45am Order: Chicken Pad Thai, Pineapple Thai Fried Rice Crowd: no one else in the dining area This was the first time back since close to when they opened many years ago. Back then there wasn't much in this shopping center where it's located but once Trader Joe's opened up, it's survived quite the expansion. The dining area to the left of the entrance has a clean look with warm colored walls and bamboo covered chairs. With that said, if you plan to have a long stay with friends, the bamboo chairs become hard on your bottom and the straight-back chair hard on your back. Service was good with a nice gentleman who looked like he could fit very well in a restaurant like Irregardless. He was pleasant, patient and attentive. The Pad Thai at medium spice was just a little less than expected with a little heat throughout. The taste was good with a little sweetness, thin slices of chicken and noodles that were shorter in length. The Pineapple Thai Fried Rice had less spice at medium spice and was also good. Overall, the experience was good and the price during lunchtime very reasonable about $11 per dish. Would recommend a visit if you're nearby. If you plan to sit awhile, bring a cushion!

Prior to a concert night, we were searching for a dinner option and the group agreed on sushi as an…read moreoption. We came across ShabaShabu on Yelp and decided it was worth the try. Located in a shopping center, it was easy to get to with ample parking. The restaurant was fairly empty so we were seated as soon as we walked in. I was surprised to see such a large and comprehensive menu of both Japanese and Thai options, and honestly it could stand to either be slimmed or organized differently. So many pages of small print text made it hard to narrow down choices, and even some pictures could have helped here. We ended up with a variety of sushi, an appetizer, and a noodle dish. One of the big things here is the BOGO sushi offerings, which is certainly appealing for a value and variety standpoint. We made sure to order enough to maximize the discount, though it's important to remember they apply the discount to the cheapest items. One other weird quirk is they will only honor the BOGO for a single check, so if you're with a group and want to split checks this becomes a problem. Our group chose to have a single check and paid each other directly instead to make sure we got the discount. All of the food was pretty good. The sushi offerings were perfectly decent though nothing remarkable, but the value to quality balance needs to be taken into account. The restaurant itself could use a bit of work, since between hard chairs, lots of black and red paint, and mostly empty seats it didn't feel super inviting. Overall a decent option and I'd consider coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way for it.
